Here is the press conference. You decide what to think. For me it looks like he wants to go to Spain. Maybe other factors in the team could stop him?
I think he is probably going. He wants to keep it secret but from his interview i can smell a yes more than no & especially when i saw the most recent youtube clip of uae teams recap of the last week i got more optimistic. From minute 7:30 onwards its visible to see how easy pog finished the loze stage & how vingegaard looked like he just got away from a running monster & this tells me there is a plan behind not going all guns blazing this tour. Hopefully🙏

"I said on, I don't know which day, that we will decide a couple of days after the Tour when everything is calm and heads are clear, then we make decisions for the next races," he said. "It's going to be tough to decide. Of course I would like to go to the Vuelta. Every year I do the Tour and I would like to do the Vuelta one day also, so we will see."
Vingegaard already confirmed it.
Pog is still being mysterious.
I'm not optimistic. Unfortunately, he will face Vingegaard again if he goes to the Vuelta. It's good for cycling fans, not so good to Tadej if he wants to peak for WC+GdL.

So Pogacar, Almeida, and Ayuso will go together? o_O

If he goes to the Vuelta, I think he won't go to Lombardia this year. He had to miss it sometime.

And as for the World Championships, as I said, he has the 2026 and 2027 World Championships. This year, Slovenia has a weak team, and it's a long trip. Of the three upcoming World Championships, it's the one that has the most sacrifices to make.
In any case, I think he would go to the World Championships, but not to Lombardia.

I think it's best for him to go to the Vuelta as soon as possible and forget about it.

He is waiting to see how he feels. If he doesn't race the Vuelta because of Ayuso... Jesus, I'm the first one to say "leave UAE and go to Visma"
If in the end it's pressure due to Ayuso's threat to leave, it would be a disregard by UAE for Pogacar.

I already said that it seemed like too much of a coincidence that the news came out that Ayuso wanted to leave the UAE, and then a few days later the news that she would go in Pogacar's place.

They're capable of telling Pogacar to rest to fix the Ayuso problem. They can't have Pogacar at the expense of threats from other cyclists on the team.

Pogacar already said in an interview that he had conditioned things in his schedule for other riders, but this would be the last straw.

Who would believe if we say he rode the whole 2nd & 3rd week on 1 lower zone than his peak zone except hautacam & peyregudes whereby pog & sola agreed that it could be the key to still be good in Spain & Rwanda. Who knows...

Guys, how many GTs Pogacar neess to win to be considered the best GT rider of all times?

For me he already is in theory, as Vingegaard is one of the best GT rider in history, and the best climber in history right behind Pogi.

Beating this guy 3 times is the greatest GT achievement ever.

But for mainstream legacy I think he needs at least 10 GT including a minimum of 5 TdF

I might be overvaluing the tour, but in my opinion the number of gts he needs is equal to the number of tours he needs. 6. In an era of (at least) two other all time great gt riders winning the big cheese 6 times would do it irrespective of how many times he bothers to race the other ones.
If he stops at 5 tours, i don't think he will ever have a case against merckx. He will most definitely never get close to five giro wins, and based on his career so far i think it is fair to say he will not suddenly start racking up loads of vueltas either to compensate. (Also, even if Pog has Jonas, Merckx had Gismondi)
