Okay, so Tour over. He won easily without being really challenged or pressed more or less, exactly as expected to me all year— as the entire season has made that clear all along by him and his opponents. So, zero surprise there for anyone dealing with reality oppose to the past..

There were still some other surprises for me. Only bummer of the GC guys was Almeida crashing out, he woulda eaten good here.

Roglic doesn't have a chance. He is not that good anymore.

You are constantly underestimating Roglič. He was second in Giro TT this year (a second behind Tarling despite a flat course) and third in Peyragudes. On a hilly TT course like in Rwanda, he is easily among top 5 favourites.

Of course, Pogačar is no. 1 favourite on a hilly TT course like that. And this might be one of the reasons he skips Vuelta (in addition to fatigue). There will never be a more suitable TT course and thus a better chance for Pogačar's WC TT title than this year. Add to that he wants to defend his RR rainbow jersey and finish the season with record 5th consecutive Lombardia.

So returning to the "team strength" discussion, what will Belgium do if a group go up the road?

No, I'm not underestimating him. I never said he wasn't able to get a medal, I just said he can't win. Why am I underestimating?

the tour is over and pog is magically back on his v5rs. For context he has never used this bike in the tour and he also has never used it in all the trainings pre tour in isola 2000 (in all the images from that period he was always using the aero bike). I really hope that he will permanently go back to this bike

To be honest I view this year's World's as an exotic trip to Africa. Little prestige.

Last year the parkour were not as hard as this year and there were longer stretches of flat/downhill where there is a huge benefit from sitting in groups. Just from how the route looks i would say it should be much easier for the strongest rider to do a long solo this year.

But he seems so mentally tired.

It's a shame he won't go to Vuelta this year.

It is the Tour. I feel like he just want to ride his bike and enjoy. Media ask him too many questions and there are many obligations that you have to do at the Tour. He is still very young and can feel the pressure and feel overwhelmed at times.
