In terms of Pogi one needs to understand he will likely win the TT and then he will have a whole week off in Africa, to mingle. Urška will be there too? Anyway, who knows in what shape he will turn up for the RR, the same for Remco, meanwhile Rogla to basically jump from the altitude directly into a race, like some sort of James Bond.

So there is that.

Came for my 5s pull on Kigali.

Slovenian national coach said he is sure Roglic is in better form than last year and also that course in city looks easier than last year in Zürich. He mentioned last year was Roglic role just to be in second group and don't work at all. I could see that happening also this year. That way Pogacar can again attack pretty soon. There is also absolutely no way Roglic will work for Pogacar but still think if he wants to go in early breakaway that will be only if Healy, Ciccone, Del Toro or Ayuso are NOT with him.

Having Pogacar, it's a waste to compete in the World Championships with a rider who isn't Pogacar, and knowing that Roglic isn´t that strong when the race is very long. And we're talking about the current Roglic, he's not at the level he was a couple of years ago. But beyond that, that scenario raises sacrificing Pogacar.

I understand that some fans want Roglic to win, but if you were the national team coach and had Pogacar, you wouldn't even consider sacrificing him.
The race will tell, won't it? Clearly Pogacar has the green light and credentials. World's are a bit of a crapshoot and he has to wade through it with the rest of them.

Yeah, Roglic really worked as a domestique a lot of times in his career...
Well, he is a champion with 5 GT wins, an OGITT, an LBL, and nearly 100 WT wins, so, no, he hasn't done a lot of domestique work.

Having said that, he has done some. I just recently tuned in to see him doing domestique work in San Sebastien, which honestly didn't make sense to me. And after the team told him he couldn't in fact race for the win in the 2023 Vuelta, he did pace Sepp. I also watched him dig deep through a pretty bad injury to help Vingegaard crack Pogacar in the 2022 Tour....

Pogacar should be the clear leader, and he should only work for Roglic if he is like severely ill or injured or something. I agree that Roglic is best used as a wheelsucker who is mainly relevant if Pogi's attack somehow gets reeled in.

I agree. It’s meant to be the climbers monument but it’s a very timid course. My point was only that it is not necessarily greatly easier than recent routes that he has already won on.
Of course Pogacar (in great shape. I'm yet to see how sickness hampered him, or not) will probably drop everyone in the last climb. It has a sector of 2.7 km at 9%. After a hard pace, no one will follow him for sure.

Recall how Pogi made fun of Rogla in the Tour last year? What has he done recently to make Rogla want to work for him?
And what has Roglic done for Pogacar? Should Pogacar help Roglic? If Roglic gets into the breakaway, why should Pogacar help with his presence in the back at peloton?

Neither of them has done anything for the other. In that situation, if you're the coach of that team, you'll assign the best rider as the leader. That's an objective fact.

Mate, for obvious reasons Roglic should work for Pogacar but after what Roglic achieved in his career, he shouldn't be a domestique to anyone in cycling. Even if his teammate is clearly the favorite to win.

His role will always be very different and comparable to Wout's role.
Wout was a co leader with Remco (Roglic is not a co leader) and he was in his prime when Remco won his WC and OC. Remco was the free card in the Belgium team while WVA covered oponnents attacks and waited for a possible sprint in the end. Roglic is past his prime, specially on classics. We all know he can't win the race (WVA could) but he has a free card because of his status.

I like them both and they are both my favorite riders but i really only see Roglic as a free card here for Slovenia. Why would he prepare just for WC (i
mean Roglic)? He said one of his bigest goals this year is WCRR Rwanda, why? Just to be domestique for Pogacar? There is no way for that happening.
