Don't get too excited. In fact, I change my avatar (to Roglic until 2026) if Roglic finishes under 4' behind Pogacar.
Only do it if you really want to.

Don't worry, I'm pretty sure I will not change my avatar.Only do it if you really want to.
I agree. It’s meant to be the climbers monument but it’s a very timid course. My point was only that it is not necessarily greatly easier than recent routes that he has already won on.It's still very underwhelming. Civiglio is missed IMO.
The race will tell, won't it? Clearly Pogacar has the green light and credentials. World's are a bit of a crapshoot and he has to wade through it with the rest of them.Having Pogacar, it's a waste to compete in the World Championships with a rider who isn't Pogacar, and knowing that Roglic isn´t that strong when the race is very long. And we're talking about the current Roglic, he's not at the level he was a couple of years ago. But beyond that, that scenario raises sacrificing Pogacar.
I understand that some fans want Roglic to win, but if you were the national team coach and had Pogacar, you wouldn't even consider sacrificing him.
Well, he is a champion with 5 GT wins, an OGITT, an LBL, and nearly 100 WT wins, so, no, he hasn't done a lot of domestique work.Yeah, Roglic really worked as a domestique a lot of times in his career...
Of course Pogacar (in great shape. I'm yet to see how sickness hampered him, or not) will probably drop everyone in the last climb. It has a sector of 2.7 km at 9%. After a hard pace, no one will follow him for sure.I agree. It’s meant to be the climbers monument but it’s a very timid course. If Van Aert had done that you wouldn't be saying the same thing about Belgiam team.Roglic prepared for it and went to altitude for it. He’s no domestique
And what has Roglic done for Pogacar? Should Pogacar help Roglic? If Roglic gets into the breakaway, why should Pogacar help with his presence in the back at peloton?Recall how Pogi made fun of Rogla in the Tour last year? What has he done recently to make Rogla want to work for him?
Mate, for obvious reasons Roglic should work for Pogacar but after what Roglic achieved in his career, he shouldn't be a domestique to anyone in cycling. Even if his teammate is clearly the favorite to win.Well, he is a champion with 5 GT wins, an OGITT, an LBL, and nearly 100 WT wins, so, no, he hasn't done a lot of domestique work.
Having said that, he has done some. I just recently tuned in to see him doing domestique work in San Sebastien, which honestly didn't make sense to me. And after the team told him he couldn't in fact race for the win in the 2023 Vuelta, he did pace Sepp. I also watched him dig deep through a pretty bad injury to help Vingegaard crack Pogacar in the 2022 Tour....
Pogacar should be the clear leader, and he should only work for Roglic if he is like severely ill or injured or something. I agree that Roglic is best used as a wheelsucker who is mainly relevant if Pogi's attack somehow gets reeled in.
I like them both and they are both my favorite riders but i really only see Roglic as a free card here for Slovenia. Why would he prepare just for WC (iAnd what has Roglic done for Pogacar? Neither of them has done anything for the other. In that situation, if you're the coach of that team, you'll assign the best rider as the leader. That's an objective fact.
I literally said the same in this topic a few pages ago…If Van Aert had done that you wouldn't be saying the same thing about Belgiam team.
Just 238 km, 4500 vertical meters. Are they trying to not put really hard climbs for other riders to challenge Pogacar?
I still think they don't have a chance.

Came for my 5s pull on Kigali.
I don't like monuments under 250 km to be honest and GdL without Civiglio or Sormano is a little bit meh...Exactly the same route as in 2021 and 2023.
Instinctively i agree but I did a bit of digging and for the same course in 2023 they completed it in just 3 minutes less than the 2025 RVV which was 30km longer.I don't like monuments under 250 km to be honest and GdL without Civiglio or Sormano is a little bit meh...
I know but I'm used to long monuments. Just like I miss 7 hours mountain stages. Gardecchia 2011 for example. There is a hidden beauty in these stages.Instinctively i agree but I did a bit of digging and for the same course in 2023 they completed it in just 3 minutes less than the 2025 RVV which was 30km longer.
Race duration is just as relevant as actual race distance.
That 2011 stage you mentioned is one of my top 5 most epic in my near 30 years following cycling.I know but I'm used to long monuments. Just like I miss 7 hours mountain stages. Gardecchia 2011 for example. There is a hidden beauty in these stages.
Yeah, however we didn't have a lot of coverage (both in duration and quality). The race was in pieces when Eurosport started the live coverage. Totally nuts this stage! That 2011 stage you mentioned is one of my top 5 most epic in my near 30 years following cycling.
IIRC, Eurosport started late and the heavy rain made the live coverage really hard.Back then, Gazzetta freely broadcasted the race. We had live images on the lower slopes of Giau before Purito attacked.
