Pogacar will destroy this TT and I'm pretty sure this TT will have big gaps. For example Vine, I'm not sure he can be under 2 minutes of Pogacar.

Did he say that? He wouldn't believe he'd be that close to Ganna in the Vuelta either.
Last year, Vine would have been on the podium if it weren't for the accident, and this year he seems better.
It seems that he has exaggerated.

Are you thinking more in line with Combloux TDF 2023 gaps where a good Van Aert was 3rd at 3 minutes.

I'm not sure it's hilly enough for that. I don't know, the video someone posted upthread made it look much flatter than I expected. Obviously the final climb is steep, but not sure it would be long enough to make Vine lose that much time (and he's a good climber anyway). Either way, I'm expecting Remco, Pog and Vine to be top three, just not sure of the order.

No, there are some very fast descents. I just think Vine will underperform.

Yeah, I never saw the route. If the route is much flatter, I will probably give the favoritism to Remco. Pogacar can't compete with a top Remco on flat roads (or close too).

Roads aren’t flat. Still 5-6% average for the climbs, but at those percentages Evenepoel stays in his TT form. Not sure how that is for others. Not everyone can create that much power in that position going uphill.

5-6% should be TT position for nearly everyone these days. Vingegaard, Roglic and Evenepoel did Peyragudes on the TT bike.

Then again, this maybe the one single thing where Pogacar being unlike everyone else bites him in the bum.

Yeah they did it on their TT bike, but during the climb they weren’t much in their TT position. But there were higher percentages of course.

Riders develop more power when they sit upright, but their CdA is much higher then. When going uphill CdA doesn’t matter as much. So each rider has a different cut off that when they sit upright they can go faster compared to in aero position when going uphill. In case of Evenepoel the cut off is apparently quite high.

He destroyed the field in Monaco last year (last TT of the Tour) and he was riding in a TT bike.
He gets too punished for his bad choice in Combloux but due to his broken wrist, he wasn't able to recon that TT. And once again, UAE showed how professional they are...

He did the MTT this year on a road bike, unlike his 4 closest competitors.

It's quite clear he has less preference for his TT bike when climbing than many others.

Whether that's due to the position, or simply due to the UAE TT bike still being heavier, I don't know.

As for the Nice ITT last year, the section that was climbing on the TT bars was also the section where he took the least time on Vingegaard, outside of the flat section at the end where he was celebrating anyway. And in the first TT in 2024, he also lost the most time time to Evenepoel on the uphill section.

For sure but can we really say it was a bad choice? I think we will never know because he won the TT. Last 7 km were done at 8%, probably around 23-24 kph.

I don't argue with the choice, I cite it as a personal preference that makes me think he's less likely to have a great performance in this specific WC ITT.

Maybe, we will see but to counter your argument, I told you he made a great performance with a TT bike last year in Monaco.
For example Remco was losing 51" in the second time split.

pog form and techniqe si by far the worst of any contenders.power he should destroy them,but in tts he actually underperforms.remco is chunky,so that position is perfect for him,but he cant improve aero anymore.

And Pogacar barely took 26s at the end of a GT. I expect Pogacar to be 20-30s behind at the 3rd time check. If that’s the case it’s probably over, if he’s less than 20s behind he still has a shot.

All those attacks failed in the Tour, and they will surely fail in a 270-kilometer race.

With Roglic's unreliability in such tough races, it would be a mistake for Slovenia to let him compete in the race at the front, risking him exploding at the 240-kilometer.

This is pretty obvious Roglic will ride for himself. He wouldn't bother going to Rwanda otherwise and is not known to help other teammates if he thinks he has a chance. I'm expecting his early attack but what it means to Pogi, well time will tell. I don't think Pogacar will play an anchor role for too long in this case, he will counter-attack at some point (unless other teams do good chasing job).
