He also said on Saturday that MSR and Roubaix are his big goals. The idea of him skipping Roubaix seems to be coming from someone else, probably Gianetti since we know he hated Pogacar riding Roubaix last year !
UAE has its new leader for P-R: Florian Vermeersch. And he will win it. Mark my words. There is not need for Pogacar to go to the hell of the north and take risks prior to his 5th TdF. He can us P-R as a future goal to keep him motivated.

Yes, especially if MvDP has 10 punctures :p
Don't get me wrong, I've cheered for both Vermeersch brothers right from they entered the scene, and just until the two spring predators started to enter the buffet, I've really had true confidence that both Vermeersch and Turgis could win P-R. But recent couple of years I'll compare it to having confidense that Simmons can hold back Pogi at Ganda in Il Lombardia....

Pogacar has some catching up to do with Merckx.
Instead of chasing unicorns in Roubaix Pogi should be doing 2 Gts EVERY year. He is no longer a neo-pro.
No, he shouldnt. Not every year.

He can do two GTs, but then he will have to sacrifice other races. Like 2024, when he skipped cobbles and rode a very light schedule in the spring to do Giro-Tour. In the end it is up to him, what he wants to do.

I also think it is quite different doing a hard Tour vs Vinge + others... and then do Vuelta as well. Just look at Vinge in the Vuelta and aftermath this season.

If he wants to win all the five monuments, he cant ride two GTs in the same season. It would be spreading himself too thin and he will pay the debt for it.

It's just pretty basic. If he's targeting the cobbled classics in spring, he's only doing the Tour, then focus on Worlds and Lombardia after. If not, he's doing a light spring + Giro-Tour-Worlds-Lombardia. Tour-Vuelta realistically won't happen until 2028 when the Worlds course doesn't suit Pogi anymore.

The second week the route really suited me, I rode the time trial superbly, and then came the last week. I wanted to win in the Alps, especially to get revenge on the Loze Pass. To be honest, not everything went according to plan. One day after Ventoux I had problems with my knee and there were doubts whether I would be able to continue at all. The weather was bad, it was very cold.

"My body was in shock, I didn't feel my best. But a three-week race is not easy, every cyclist has problems. We are often tired after the first week, and then you have two more "

The knee stuff is new for me, maybe then he didn't have the flu despite him dressing up as if it's winter after every stage, but rather after the crash and big efforts the 2 days after, the injuries caught up to him and put his body into a shock. Luckily the Ventoux stage was sunny at least, could've been a worse end otherwise.

I think this is the first time the knee issue was revealed. He probably wouldn’t lie about having a bit of sickness in the second week of the Tour.

It’s probably not a surprise then that he wasn’t at his best in the third week, especially after Ventoux. But even then, he comfortably answered Jonas’ attacks on Madeleine and Loze and even dropped him at the end of Loze. Hopefully, there will be less issues in next year’s Tour and maybe we get something similar to 2024. Based from the route rumors, there are a lot of good stages for Pogi to target.

It's just incredible how all commentators never mentioned the crash during week 2 and 3 of the tour. If it was another rider who crashed like that they would still be talking today about how it affected him. Now we have the confirmation from pog himself that something went wrong at the tour. It might be a combination of the effects of a bad crash and the 2 big efforts in hautacam and peyragudes that led to the knee problem and also the cold in week 3. Taking into account all of this it's fair to say his level in 2025 tour was even higher than in 2024 and his gap to vingegaard even bigger

Where did he hurt his knee?
For the last week he was riding with water in his knee. I think it started durring stage 14 when UAE switched their tactic mid stage but I only learned about it after the Ventoux stage so I don't really know when it started. When I asked if it's related to the crash I was told it's the other knee that is bothering him. After La Plagne I was told that the Vuelta is 100% out the window.

He was exhausted at the end of the TDF that is for sure but IMO more so mentally than physically and that is because of the way he was forced to ride in the last week. I have no knowledge of this but I think the knee affected his preparation for the WC as well as he probably couldn't train on TT bike as much as he would need to if he really wanted to challenge Remco.
