why is BMC even riding? They should leave it to sky, ok Porte wants to win the stage but surely GC is more important

Sky don't want to ride, they'd let the breakaway go and then Porte can't win the stage to take the bonifications. Also, maybe they just want a hard day out to tire some guys out.

Bonus seconds. There aren't that many good stages to win back time and Porte showed on Stage 3 that he believes every second will count in this race, especially after his sub-optimal tt

They probably also want the stage win.

Richie has the most chance on an MTF of which there are only 3.

How come that Van Keirsbulck won the most aggresive rider award yesterday?
Because Sagan was dqed so the couldn't really give it to him, despite his best efforts.

The time diffrences won't be big but in a true rode race it is the best way of seeing exactly where each rider is after today. If Porte doesn't finish ahead of Froome today I think he knows that he can't possibly beat him in this tour on pure physical strength. Also has the chance of taking the bonus seconds which he will need. Logic from the Dauphine would dictate that Porte will beat Froome today if it comes down to pure climbing shape but with Froome you just never know. Pschologically it is a big battle today.

BMC could be happy if Porte won the stage and take the bonuses but Sky would still keep yellow.

The fast pace being set by BMC might just hamper his chances.
Ppl like G, Froome will have a threshold power much higher than Porte, Quintana.
Every pedal stroke Froome takes below threshold power while the others take above it it's advantage Froome.
In a Tour where the w/kg are so close together the recovery will be easier for more powerful riders.
I think it's a mistake by BMC.
But I do understand..Bonus seconds at this point are imp

Aye, the TOB Director who more or less said the TOB will not visit Yorkshire whilst it has the TDY. Then talks about the categories of climbs and gives two examples of Cat1 climbs..........both in Yorkshire

Well that wasn't necessary from Matthews, was all over the road there at the end. Thinking back to yesterday, maybe that wasn't such a great idea.
