What are peoples thoughts on Matthews challenging for the Green?

It's impossible. The guy simply doesn't sprint well enough to compete for top 3's in the flat finish, and that makes it impossible. Kittel has a much better shot due to the possible nine sprint finishes. However, the finales are probably going to be even more chaotic than last year with the addition of Démare and Bouhanni, so that doesn't speak for him. Unless some of the sprinters get taken out due to crashes in the first few days which is likely to happen, I'm sorry to say.

Isnt the forecast for Stage 2 to be raining too? Thats going to add to the chaos

My prediction:
No stage 1 thread before 24 hours of the tdf start.

Exactly.. I was looking and nothing... guess we were spoiled by Eshnar...

We certainly are spoiled by Eshnar who does an exceptional job for all us during the giro every year.

My comment was lazy ofcourse. I could've done it myself ;)

Didn't know Savoldelli was back at Astana! I predict he'll destroy everyone on the cat mountain descent. :D

Who do you think will do the sprints (if anyone) for these teams: AG2R, Movistar, Astana, Orica, Cannondale and Wanty?

Dumoulin, Lobato, Guardini, Ewan, Wippert and Napolitano.

Listened to the Cycling Podcast and the 2 riders mentioned by journalists to be flying at the moment are

Arun & Landa
Interesting. Also noticed that Landa is the second to last Sky-rider to start today, so presumably he is the guy they want to keep in contention for as long as possible.

You are funny. Please be serious.

It seems a little desperate to be posting the same question over and over again, don't you think. Why not just look at the rosters and see that neither of the teams have a sprinter at the race?

Edit: Okay, just twice, but still.

I'm optimistic after today's stage.
Sure, Froome looked strong and already has the jersey, but there was more than a couple of riders able to match his digs.
All of them tactically aware and liking the route better than Froome.
I think it's open race. We'll learn more for the weekend.

Podium: 1 Talansky 2 Uran 3 Rolland
Green: Bevin
KOM: Rolland
White: Bettiol
Top 10: Brown, Clarke, Bettiol, Bevin, Van Baarle, Phinney, Kittel
Breakthrough rider: Bevin
Most stage wins: Bevin
Cavendish stage wins: 0

:) One thing is correct, Bevin will be riding in a green jersey. Uran will be above Talansky in GC.

OK. I'll admit you got Uran's position spot on. (I did say he'd be the best GC guy in Cannondale though)

However, I still beat you by correctly predicting 2 of the 3 podium positions :p :D
