He said this week that he hates being in the back/middle of the group. He feels this costs as much energy as constantly having to do minor accelerations.

AS looking strong if he can "do a Vino" on the climb, drop back to get some gels/water, and then within a minget straight back in the peloton. Although he could easily have allowed a domestique to do it - maybe he thoguht they wouldn't be able to?
