This is the thread for this stage, and what he said is the truth. People watch cycling for more than the last km, you know.

Yeah I do know, but everyone here knew today would come down to a bunch sprint and HTC would sit on the front controlling so, knowing that, and knowing it bores you, why would you bother watching it? If it's such a crap stage dont watch, simple

What is it with the incessant moaning about bunch sprints? Is it that you don't like them full stop or that you don't like them because of who wins?

Take it easy woodie. The boys were just having a little fun with this earlier.

Just the expression of a national characteristic, I think: Australian aversion to whining. :D

Yes, but not smart on Tyler's part for starting from so far back. Nice job again by HTC and Cav.
He started too far back, but that's where Dean took him. Dean should have been next to Renshaw instead of behind Cav to give Farrar a fair chance.

I guess it is clear by now that Sky should've brought Henderson and not Swift.

6th is OK for your first attempt.

Henderson is a tried and tested 3rd or 4th tier sprinter - no harm in trying someone younger with some good wins this year.

A tribute to Vino?

VinoTrib.gif

Had a hunch this would be a good Sunday morning to go to work and just check the ticker occasionally.

And I was surprised to see as I skimmed the thread that this tribute to Vino wasn't greeted with 10 people going ' VINOOOOOOOOO'

Or perhaps I was just skimming too lazily...

I just get sick of every post by some posters during flat stages being whining, just enjoy it for what it is or don't watch

Greiple looked to be about 15th or something. Tyler showing a lot of speed there but not enough.

I meant TF needed to be up on Cav's wheel. Wasn't he 2 wheels back of Cav when Cav went around his leadout (Renshaw I think)?

The problem is that Cav is so small and lies so low on his bike that he's horrible to draft behind apparently.

On a weekend I'd rather have a stage that I can watch without falling asleep, and this isn't one, and being the greatest cycling race in the world we expect better.

Lol, Cav's form is almost as bad as Bertie, but he's still got 4 stage wins.
Renshaw is something else though. Without him Greipel would've won the 11th stage and Farrar today.

Don't like them full stop, teams that base their entire philosophy around them are evil, and I like them even less when Cavendish wins.

Actually, I'll be fair. I don't mind a disorganised sprint, if Cavendish is the fastest and has fought his way to the front then all credit where it's due, but when the train functions like it did today, it takes away the ONLY thing worth watching a sprint stage for - the unpredictability of the sprint itself.

Let's face it, the 186km that lead up to it gave us nothing.

and thats fair enough, I understand that but most of you have already stated it once, Libertine even pulled up all those stages which I found interesting, but do you need to continue whining the whole time? like really? you knew what was coming.

With that i'm off to bed

Did you miss Saturday stage?

This was even worse, because at least yesterday we had the satisfaction of thinking something would happen.

The racing yesterday was still better than today, it was just more of a letdown because we knew today would be dull, whereas we thought yesterday would be entertaining.

It's not his first attempt, Sky have tried to do leadout for Swift a couple of times but he has mostly been dropped before the sprint or lost the wheel. He's clearly not faster than EBH at the moment. You're probably right but I just feel sorry for Henderson who never has started TDF and is getting quite old.

In defense of Libertine, it was a boring stage. But I'm glad the peloton gets effectively two rest days. It means the racing will be better.
