Shrek had a real nice gap on Contador, who had very little response to what was happening. Vino was nearly following alone.

I think folks need to see the replay to understand how quickly this all played out. Vino was closing, and AC was closing RAPIDLY. He has to swerve around Andy's left to avoid hitting him.

I'm sure we will be treated to thousands of replays of the full piece, but that's what I saw.

We need more downhill finishes at the tour. this is good..

I loathe downhill finishes, AS is going to lose 15 seconds on AC simply because AC had help from Menchov and Sanchez while AS was alone. A mountain finish will reward the best climber, a downhill finish can reward the person who has the best wheel to suck, like today.

With Andy's lack of skill on the bike, he needs to be careful.

I am not sure how I feel about Contador pushing the pace. He was closing when Andy broke, and he was not alone. It isn't like SS or Menchov are waiting, and nobody is whining about them. I am sure we will hear endless commentary in the coming days. I also think we will see a very motivated Schleck in the coming days. I think he is stronger than Contador on the climbs, and if he is still in yellow by the TT, I think he may put in the ride of his life.

Menchov and Sanches just followed Contador who was attacking yellow jersey. Schleck had a little gap to Contador, I am not sure that Contador was closing. But what I am sure is that Contador attacked when he saw Schlecks mechanical.

Of people feel there is too much traffic I have created a thread to talk about this.

"The Moment the MJ decided to attack"

Otherwise there is no chance in hell of reading anything about the current situation of the race.

Funny to see the Contador fan boys in full denial mode here :p

I'm not a fanboy, but all these "unspoken" rules are ridiculous. Does Schleck using his team on stage 3 to gain time on AC prove who the stronger man is? No

First off, Andy wouldn't have waited. Second, he kicked his own chain off. Third, AC was responding as Schleck's chain went down, so it wouldn't have mattered. Finally, it's a sport, if there's not a rule against it, deal with it.

There's a thing called sportsmanship but maybe you haven't heard of it

Watch the replay again, AC starts come across, and fast.

When someone stops dead it can look that way, but given how slow Contador was to react, and given how much time AS managed to make up after losing at least 30 seconds, i think he would have dropped AC today.

More than sportsmanship, who wants to be known as the guy who won the TdF because the strongest rider had a mechanical on his attack?

I saw Vino was on his wheel and Bertie was about 10 metres behind, but had yet to really respond.

No of course Bertie responding and Schleck going nowhere Bertie would close a 10 meter gap in a flash. However we do know for a fact that Andy had opened up a small gap on Bertie, what we do not know is whether Andy could have sustained or extended said gap, or whether Bertie would have closed it...

BTW latest Time Gap Contador 32 seconds ahead of Andy.

AS took advantage of AC's misfortune in Stage 3 to gain time on him, how is this any different whatsoever?
