Just when LA sits up on the Bales climb today they will say how he is saving his energy so he can attack and win a stage....I laugh so hard it hurts. Phil and Paul should get a show on the comedy channel.

By the last stage they will tell us how LA invented the bicycle!

:D:D:D

The thing is they are so serious about everything, Its like they know everything of whats happening.

It's understandable though that LA gets talked about so much here. He makes a lot of noise within cycling and has created a huge presence around himself.

This inevitably means that he will get talked about.

And to see him fail? It simply isn't possible to let this slide without it being discussed as much as it is.

Thankfully, it will be a lot better for the Vuelta and for next year!!

So who will win the stage? Any guesses?

Vandborg
van Summeren
Ivanov
Mondory
Ballan
Reda
Roberts
Voeckler
Turgot
Aitor Perez

Aitor Perez? Ivanov?

I think the point was that despite his irrelevance, Versus is bending over backwards to keep him a part of the discussion, no matter how ridiculous.

That's great.

I'm at work, following the race through this thread and text feeds. YOU ARE MAKING ME HEAR THE STUPID VERSUS COVERAGE BECAUSE YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT IT.

You are proliferating the crap you are complaining about. Just stop it, watch a foreign feed if you don't want to hear them talk. Start a new thread talking about how much the Versus coverage sucks... but don't take up three pages in the race thread talking about it when it has nothing at all to do with the race.

I really don't even mind a comment or two... the problem is once his name gets mentioned... we have three pages of people just saying "Lance is AWESOME!" or "The Uniballer sucks! HA, HA, HA!" And neither group seems to realize that THEY are just as annoying as the other group.

also there is not a whole lot of action going on at the moment (unless you like watching everyone soft pedal)

it is all just filler until Port de bales...

Versus' coverage is supposedly dumbed down because they are all about bringing new fans to the sport and educating them. There is no excuse for this level of dishonesty, however.

Obviously BPC writes the Versus script. Or else BPC is actually Bob Roll.

Do you ever get the sense that they resent people who are already cycling fans and say the stuff they do just to make us put our faces in the palms of our hands?

I mean, can you get more disingenuous? And I have to say that Phil, of all people is the one who most frequently says anything sensible about what is happening on the road. Bob doesn't even seem like he is watching or cares about the race whatsoever. Paul is just a shill and he can't stop for one second.

Dude, you need to take a day off. Being so upset at work will not help you do your job, whatever that may be!

here is the eurosport feed for you...

That's fine.

Talk about it in another thread... talk about things actually relevant to the race in the race day thread.

A rider 20+ minutes back who's not involved in the action of the day is not relevant. Lance going off the back in a stage deserves the same comment as Moreau or Casar or Vallis moving off the back. It was news in the race a week ago. It's not anymore.

Perez can climb, can't he? Cause most of these guys can't really, not like AS and AC...so 10:00 might just be used up by the top of Port de Bales...and we'll see a small group come off of the descent.

All of you are not helping when it comes to talking about cycling and today's stage...

Let's just discontinue the "Phil-and-Paul-are-idiots-and-stop-mentioning-that-Phil-and-Paul-are-idiots" back and forth.

Use that precious time to learn Dutch, French, Italian or Spanish and watch Sporza or another real cycling channel.

Kurt,
Yuu have been told this already - there just is not much happening in the race right now. The peloton has let the break get a big lead and is just riding easy at the moment. Nothing much to say about that.

This thread is not the cyclingnews live report. Feel free to read that if you want to know ONLY what is going on the race. The forum thread is not meant to be exactly the same as the live race report. Feel free to put people on ignore if you don't like what they say, but stop trying to be the self-appointed thread censor.

+1. Not much to say when nothing is happening. Maybe the cyclingnews live thread has more information for those who are curious about the race.

I was guessing he could climb, but perhaps someone can fill us in on his real abilities.

I would say Perez, but the climbers in this group are so weak that they might barely survive even with 10 minutes.

Most of those feeds are restricted, I have Harmon and Kelly so i'm OK at the moment.

Poking fun at Phil and Paul is fun though.:)

RE Perez

Height 1.83
Weight 71 kilos
Pro since 2004

Cannot ever recall him climbing away from anyone.

It would be awesome if Footen got a win though!

While letting the break get away, the peleton soft-pedalled up the climb 7 riders abreast, with the same riders at the front and no room for anyone to think about changing position.

I haven't seen this before - it looked very odd. Any ideas what they were playing at?

Think Pozzato wishes he had more to do with the Tour this year other than his naked body in the Sidi commercials??

Looks almost like they are riding a transition stage. Everyone gets a day off.
We'll see soon enough!
Port de bales just up the road.

Hopefully the Footen rider can win but i dont know too much about him.

Turgot was sprinting well early on in the tour, maybe he can descend quickly also if he gets over the top..

The climb is 19.3km avg 6.1%, but with steep sections up to 10-11%...

No real climbers in the break...

Gap now steady at ~+10m?

How far still till the base of the climb?

Vino will close the gap in 5 mins.

Seriously though, seems like Conti and Schleck gave each other a scare yesterday. Might be letting the others make a showing. No other teams have really done anything.

He had an okay result in stage 3 of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya. Finished 8th in a group with Taaramae, Tiralongo and Casar. Ahead of Leipheimer and Kloden.
