Actually I am amazed that AS, minus a technicality could still be in yellow today and he pretty much hasn't a single teammate to play with. Very impressive when you think of it.

i've been thinking the same thing. i think it says a lot about him, physically and psychologically.

Don't put too much blame on the stage, ok the end sucks but if the world's best climbers can't be bothered racing each other up the Tourmalet and the Aubisque who's guilty of turning it into a non-event?

Contador is sitting smug knowing he's been given an easy day in Yellow, Saxo Bank obviously didn't fancy the challenge of trying to break him. So much for Andy's fighting talk yesterday.

Andy actually said before today's stage (don't recall if it was yesterday or early today but think last night) he would take it easy today and rest up, he never planned to do anything today he knew the 60km to the finish would be to much with a team that was clearly weaker then Astana, it's us and the commentators who turned his talk into a plan for today rather then thursday.

The top 10 standings is at risk with this breakaway. I'd think Garmin, Liquigas, Katusha, Astana and a couple of other teams would start pressing the chase.

Sean Kelly has just suggested that some of the breakaway might want to "gift" the stage to Lance.
I don't fink so. Not the French anyway. Big, big cheque required.

Horner be sent on a rabbit's errand.
Not the spanish either. Sean's been hiding a noggin of whiskey in his back pocket methinks

There is no love lost between Cunego and Armstrong. I think the Little Prince would take pleasure in "crushing" the old dude.

Well Dave Z is definitely drilling it for Garmin. And the Lotto boys look to be up there in force too.

Lance is now sitting on and not doing any work in the chase. Lame. No way they let him win this stage.

of course no one is going to gift the stage to armstrong. That would be a disgrace. Dont know why so many people are making this suggestion. I think he will go for it from a few km out and get brought back and finish last in the break as cunego takes the sprint.
