In trying to formulate my 9 man fantasy team for tomorrow I am interested in peoples thoughts on Millar, Wiggins, Martin, Grabsch, Sanchez, Fugslang's and EBH's chances of getting into the top 15. I am concerned about the condition of Millar and Martin as they finshed near last on each stage in the Pyrenees. Anyone know if they are injured or savings themselves for tommorow?

Thanks.

Of that group I feel confident that Wiggins, Martin, Grabsch, EBH, and Sanchez will all get top 15. Martin is a good bet to win, Wiggins and Grabsch as well. Millar is injured, and Fuglsang is burnt from the mountains.

Thanks and good point on Fugslang. I had him more for the assist on Cancellera and because he was cheap than the hope for top 15. I am little afraid of Wiggins after his prologue and leaning more to a cheaper rider like Horner, VDB or Zabriske. What do you all think of Zabriske's chances? The course seems suited for his riding style.

Cunego for the win :(

As I said in that other thread, I'm hoping for Wiggins and Martin but I don't think they're feeling too great right now. However, to hell with that:

1. Wiggins
2. Martin
3. Cancellara
4. Menchov
5. Grabsch

Menchov to beat Samu, Hesjedal to move up to 7th, Horner to barely keep 10th, Roche to put 15 minutes on Gadret.

I don't think there is a big suspense with the winner of the Tour, but I really don't know who will finish 3rd... Sanchez/Menchov, I think there will be just a few seconds between them.

Zabriskie will make top15 for sure.

Yea Zabriskie is pretty consistent, a good bet for top 15. But it would be a surprise if he got much higher than 10th. I think Wiggins will win merely because Sky is so desperate for a solid result, and even thought his climbing from last year may have been a fluke, his time trialling isn't.

Horner is a good time trialist. Won the Pais Vasco end tt, wining the whole thing in the proccess.

Hesjedal can't win 2+ minutes on Rodriguez and Gesink. If we look at pasts results in ITT's that virtually impossible. But hey, maybe if they both have 9 bike changes. Who knows :D

Gesink definetly not but rodriguez is a very average time trialler. Especially on this type of course with headwinds.

Rdoriguez even rode top 10 in the Pais Vasco TT

The course tomorrow doesn't suit him at all, true.
But it doesn't suit Hesjedal either.

In the tds tt which was a course that suited him he lost 2:19.

In comparison to ridriguez, the tt course is quite good for hesjedal.

Well, I'm rooting for Roche to do well, but I think it will be more like 3 minutes over Gadret, not 15, but Gadret is Toast anyway. Says a lot about the French, and you wonder why so many of them have done so well. The way the Tour was laid out this year made for a very dull race. I think the organizers are astute and realized that toooo many mountains would end the suspense early but to have it drag on forever made for a very booooring, and very staged, tour. I think that even the cyclists have kind of had it with this thing. It is very comical, at best. When someone who is behind by 3:43:27 is leading the "points jersey" and we are supposed to think that this is something special, I would have to say that I don't think so. Get rid of the classification. It's pointless. And besides, the French will make sure, as they always do, that Cavendish doesn't have a real chance, in one way or another, in that classification. Just make an award for the winner of the most stages. Duh! The entire race is just filled with things that really don't have anything to do with cycling. But I liked the water bottle.

Martin
Wiggins
Grabsch
Cancellara
Contador
Menchov

Sorry for Sanchez. I would have liked to have seen him get third but that was just not going to happen.

AC will catch AS and they are both going to cross the finish line together patting and hugging each other over and over again...and then they are going to go out on vacation together. This whole "we are rivals but friends" crap has to end :p

Cancellara will get it. Crap, thanks to Cancellara's mediocre TDF, it means I have to wake up quite early if I want to see him ride

Look, I can understand the top tt-ers and top gc riders like Menchov winning that much time on the likes of Rodriguez

But Hesjedal? Hesjedal himself loses 2/3 minutes on those guys in a long TT normally..

Hesjedal did quite well in the final TT in 08 (13th place when he was outside the top 40 on GC) and of course he's never been going as well as this before. He should be able to beat Gesink and Rodriguez quite comfortably especially if there's a headwind as he probably gives away a few kilos to those two

I'd have sworn I remembered some pretty good TT performances by Hesjedal but looking at CQ I think I must have dreamed them up. That 13th (11th without Schumacher and Kohl) place you mention seems to be about his only remarkable result.

15th in the 2008 Olympic games TT, 20th in the 9th stage of the 2009 TdS, 12th in the first stage of the Volta a Catalunya this year... Not much, really. I must be getting old.

I believe there is a tailwind tomorrow. At least that's how I read this map:

thanks for posting this publicus. i was wondering which direction the wind would come from. however, this looks like it predicts a headwind to me. anyone here familiar with the wind patterns in bordeaux?
