Jeebus freaking christ on a pogo stick. The OLN/Versus Live coverage used to be almost all live overage. Now it has so many stupid features it is more like that crappy enhanced coverage later in the day.

Human interest stories have always been the bane of a US sports fan's existence. The Olympics are the worst. Now Versus is trying to emulate.

There are obviously pre-programmed slots when they cut away from live coverage to give 'local' stations an opportunity to interview their own riders.

I didn't see it myself, but they said Levi did the same thing.

I don't think it was as dramatic. Millar almost went down.

Remind me to never ever buy white shorts. It's like watching a Sir Mixalot video.

Lance Armstrong just spoke to French TV, here's what he had to say:

"It was hard, very technical, hard to find my rhythm. I haven't raced since the Giro. I've been away a long time. I did the best I could ... What a beautiful course! The best way to sum it up is that I had fun. I felt pretty good. ... We'll have to see how the other guys do, but I never expected to win the stage or take the yellow jersey. I'm happy for Levi and Tony, they're specialists.

"I was a little nervous, which is logical since I've been away for a long time. I felt like I knew the course well. it was almost like being in a foreign environment. Even in the other races this year, I've never felt the same as before.

"The race started today, and we're going to see some imporant time differences already.

"I'm happy to be here. There's a lot of other places I could be, but I wanted to be here. I'm having a good time.

I don't think so. I think there is a continuous feed and it is up to the local stations to decide what they want to use. I may be wrong. The old OLN coverage was not nearly this crappy.

What did Armstrong say?

Bit hard to hear over the french translation but that it was hard but hard for everyone. He was happy with the time and didn't expect to win. His french was too rusty.

Nothing about AC. His time will be interesting. I hope it doesn't rain.

Hmm....no topping off pre race or something? Maybe those threats by the French Sports Minister scared him off.

Where are all of the fanboys? I guess we will only hear from them if he wins. Then they will be all over thumping their chests and pretending they won.

Fortunately, I don't think that is going to happen.

You are more obsessed with Armstrong than any 10 "fanboys" put together.

Do you have any idea how pathetic you sound at this point?

Phil and Paul are just stupid. Really. Now they are judging Leipheimer and Armstrong against the domistiques of every team that are now coming in and saying that their times might hold......thick that pair is.

If it rains, they may have a point.
