A lot of the bad GC and monuments results are bad luck. Vauquelin would have finished 2nd or 3rd in P-N without bad luck. And he crashed in stage 2 of Itzulia. Same for Arensman in Tirreno. Onley was sick in P-N after a strong Algarve. Bernal is injured.
In RVV Sheffield crashed in the group for 6th place. Ganna had al lot of bad luck in Roubaix.

Three monuments so far, best placed finisher: 33rd at MSR, 51st at RVV and 21st at Roubaix…
August with a great stage win in old school nasty conditions that established him as a hard man. Ganna today throwing it in, making the selection and making mistakes while racing hard. Put in a monster effort, everything about him and his style needed a tweak that didn't happen, Big rider, big bike, taller center of gravity, things that work on nice dry roads don't work when you are racing on dirty rocks and a bunch of uneven surfaces. Everything you do on cobbles is done separately. You can't break or pedal hard during any turn, you can't get impatient and stand up early to go with more gas, get on top of the gear, you lose rear end and or front end. Any squirrel side to side moves you can make in a regular road race have to tossed down on the ground like you were struck by lightning. Ganna was part of a long list of guys who didn't do the homework, the recon at speed..You see videos of UAE, Alpecin, Visma..they came with scooters and motorcycles for practice runs and had moto go up to corners to block traffic so they could get a feel for what it's like at near race speed. Ganna rode excellent in my opinion, no result but sponsor exposure was decent, he was on camera, sometimes for the wrong reasons! Lol

Ineos showing some good signs and as important as anything that happens on the bike, Ineos one of the only teams to have good financial news and securing a new sponsor.. That money could lead to good things

2021 - 2nd
2022 - 2nd
2023 - 4th
2024 - 7th
2025 - 8th
2026 (so far) - 13th

I feel old. times have changed. ten years ago we'd have Vayerism and co already with a list of Netcompany's budget, source of income, ownership, HR problems, list of offices, CO2 print, links with any shady partner, and any, any possible wrong thing done by them.
it's all gone.

Latest transfer news from Daniel Benson:

Jhonathan Narvaez and Harold Tejada are joining and the team wants to sign at least one more proven climber.

Egan Bernal has extended.

Ben Turner is very likely going to Soudal. Ben Swift is set to retire and become a DS.

AJ August is set to sign an extension.

The futures of Laurens De Plus and Magnus Sheffield are uncertain.

Find the return of Narvaez a bit odd. Since going to uae his consistency and mountain climbing has really improved and he must've known when moving there he'd be domestiqueing for pogi. Is it just a case of $$$?

Quite possibly. Two years ago Ineos was really cutting back on spending but they might have more to spend now with the new sponsor.

I doubt Ineos could pay more than UAE for Narvaez. I don't understand the move because there is no way he would be allowed to go for stages for Ineos at a GT.

To be honest with how shaky Ineos are in GT GC, he may get a loot of freedom.
Besides, it's doubtful they will have the top 3 favourite for any GT, thus their riders should have freedom to stage hunt. But that's Ineos, so you never know.

Narvaez was stage hunting in the last 2 GTs he rode for Ineos and got in about 10 breaks, the Turner situation the other day was more an exception and they don't really have a top top tier GC guy at the moment.

Then again he would get that freedom at Giro/Vuelta at UAE, so maybe he just wants to do it at the Tour or want a protected role at some monuments, only thing I can think of other than money.

I'm confused.
The new Netcompany Ineos kit has black shorts, yet Artem Shmidt opted to ride the Dunkirk Classic with the old white shorts...
In pissing rain.

You forgot that Brailsford is back in the team and GC is God.

So after upsetting the Giro organizers by not doing his media bits, Thymen has spoken! (well, virtually...)
https://www.cyclingnews.com/pro-cyc...ahead-of-the-final-week-at-the-giro-d-italia/
"I reconned stages 19 and 20 after the Tour of the Alps, and they are some really tough stages. It is so hard to predict what will happen in the third week. I can feel the legs and the body. The human body is a special thing, and it can react every day differently," he said.
Egan Bernal is apparently the new Yoda at Ineos, spreading words of wisdom and saying watch out for parked buses.

Sounds like the Tour team will be eight out of the following nine riders:

Onley, Vauquelin, C.Rodriguez, Arensman, Kwiatkowski, Godon, Watson, Tarling, Ganna.

Winning the opening TTT with Vauquelin will be the main target.
