Having the top two guys on GC is a nice luxury for the obvious reason: bad day, crash, mechanical/flat. They can play this a few different ways, and I hope that the others try to hammer them, but if they stay at the top, I hope they go after each other on stage 19 (I know, maybe not smart, but a show none the less).

David Brailsford doing his best to actively antagonise French fans at a press conference this morning. A real PR genius that guy. If I were Froome or Thomas I’d be thinking thanks a bunch mate.

I don't know how he can blame "French fans." Maybe "Fans at the Tour de France." If anyone has spent even 5 minutes on the Champs or on a mountain stage, you know that there are fans from all over the world, can't even say that the French are even in a majority in many cases.

However, I can't condone physically touching the riders or spitting on them. The rest...well, what does he expect?

Edit: and blaming ASO? He needs the tour more than the tour needs him.

Yeah - he said this behaviour seemed to be part of French culture.
That'll cool things down for sure.

While I obviously don't agree with fans intervening physically (spitting, pushing), I understand why fans would target a team they feel is taking the p**s.

About evens me thinks. ASO needs newsworthy headlines to promote the race and Team Sky gives them that. Hence, they released their "Froome can't race" spiel a week before the race. Great headline to steer the news cycle away from the World Cup.

Go and read sir Dave’s comments...it’s all true

"It's interesting. We raced in Italy and Chris's case was open when we were at the Tour of Italy and the Italians were fantastic, to be fair to them. The Spanish, fantastic. It just seems to be a French thing,” Brailsford said.

“It's like a French cultural thing really, isn't it?

He says it seems like and its like - enough ambiguity - but causes the headline,

The question is it a French thing or rather a Tour de France thing, which attracts people from all over the world, I guess he leaves himself wiggle room

One way Sky can lose is if Geraint cracks and then Dawgboy gets beaten in the ITT

I think there is no way Sky loses. Not sure if anything happens on Tuesday. On Wednesday, I expect Sky to send GT on the attack, and Froome will wait for Dumo to reel G back in, with Froome just riding on Dumo's wheel. This drags Froome up to G and then Froome attacks! LOL. Puts 2+ minutes on everyone. Takes yellow and goes on to win TDF #5. Easy peasy. :D
