I came to say a similar thing. There was obviously a big PR push in February/March about how this was the Return of Ineos, but they've been worse than last year. Stage wins, but not present or good enough in anything that really matters.

Godon has been a good signing, and Vauquelin has shown promise, but that's about it. Onley has been really off it and Ganna not as strong as last year (though has to be said, the entire team is looking poor in one day races).

I think it's way too early to tell anything in regards to their season and how it's going. So far they have finished a little worse in the final results of WT stage races and classics, but have more wins.

Agreed / it depends on metrics also as to how you define success. By pure win numbers this is a better season so far. In terms of performances in the monument/big one day races, they look a little lacking.

Radcliffe and Brailsford have made pretty clear that the aim is to return Ineos to top of cycling. I doubt that means reduced bunch sprint wins in Catalunya, as good as Godon has been.

This sort of aligns with the type of roster changes they have had. If you can't compete for the big prices, you go for the next tier of prices.

You have to start from somewhere though, winning brings confidence, good feeling to the team, they go into other races believing they have a chance rather than oh not another race we dont feature.

Let's see how things progress over the season.
