Probably just a brain fart Wiggo's probably thought more about his upcoming trip to Buckingham Palace recently than his races against Armstrong.

Criterium International 2004? It's a myth?

Interviewer: You used to race against Lance Armstrong?
Wiggins: Well that's a myth. I never actually raced against Lance Armstrong. In my whole reign [sic] really. I raced once against him in the Criterium International 2004, never at the Tour de France... um yeah so that was the only time really.

Telling the truth is so easy, you never have to remember what you said.

Not really. He raced against him in races where Armstrong was shown to be dirty. Now, it is a little bit hard for clean Brad to draw attention to the fact that he finished 4th behind dirty old Armstrong.

Don't you think he'd remember that he finished just off the podium to a guy who was charging?

Don't you think he'd want to be elevated onto that podium?

Here's a photo to help refresh Wiggums memory

This is why riders don't say anything. Even if they support USADA's case and denounce Armstrong and say everything that people wanted them to people still have to find some fault in it because they referred to Armstrong's Tour winning years and not the comeback years. As though it's important.

David Moncoutie got it right. 16 years a pro and not one single word about doping. Ever. And he's an untouchable.

Learn the lesson riders. Only speak if you can say what everyone wants to hear simultaneously and absolutely don't leave any minor errors.

Minor error? Seriously? Come on...

A cynic would say he didn't wish to draw attention to the fact that he raced two Tour's in 2009 and 2010 against a doping Armstrong and finished in extremely close proximity to him on both occasions. Why? Because it doesn't fit in well with the narrative that this all happened decades ago and that cycling has ''moved on''.

Remember the wider British public wouldn't have a clue that Armstrong and Wiggins raced two TdF's together and the press are unlikely to pick him up on it either.

Brad called Vino a cheat and hoped he could win the TdF tt in 2 years, by not beating someone in 5th place by 2 minutes.
Brad called Floyd a drunk, and said he was not believable.
Brad said Lance is one of his heroes.
Brad said Kerrison got him to change his cadence and something about the gears and rolling resistance.

Brad's said lots of things over the years - I've gone looking for them. This is just one of many such instances. Since 2009, the things Brad has said have all sounded like they're coming from a little kid who's been sprung with his hand in the cookie jar.

Wiggins' IQ?

Just how intelligent (or otherwise) is Bradley Wiggins?

Do his seemingly conflicting public statements result from an intent to deceive, or could it be that he his simply none too bright?

Look, all he did was say 'my reign' instead of 'his reign'. A slip of the tongue. Everyone does it all the time. No big deal except to a few people on here with an obvious agenda. It's pathetic.

Why no in depth condemnation of apologists like Samuel 'he's never failed a test' Sanchez instead?

WRONG!! Caught you out at last!!

"I love him," Wiggins said. "I think he's great..."
:D

BTE Dear Wiggo nailed it, Wiggo seems to be able to remember a criterium from 2004 easily enough, but not two TdFs and a Giro from three years ago

A person with a brain would know he just simply said 'my' instead of 'his'. A very minor error.

(Notice how you and others ignore the 'in my, er, whole reign' part of the sentence. What do you think that meant?)

Desparate.

JV interview circa 2010 he says Wiggo is sharp as a tack - very intelligent.

That's not relevant. What's relevant is he said it's a myth that they raced together.

By BRADLEY WIGGINS, Triple gold medallist and odds-on favourite for this year's race
Seven consecutive Tour de France wins says it all but Lance was not someone who inspired me in the same way as the other names here. He was one of the fiercest rivals I’ve ever faced. To go toe-to-toe with him in 2009 was a dream come true. He revolutionised the sport and brought it to a much wider audience. His cancer survival story is incredible, and the sport has a great deal to thank him for – not least for raising its profile so that big sponsors are attracted to it.

He interupted the interviewer to claim that it was a 'myth' that he'd ever raced against Armstrong. A myth? Really? Where from because I've never come across this myth?

If, as I suspect, the basis of your argument is that Wiggins couldn't possibly have said something so obviously incorrect, then you'd be wrong because there's plenty more where that came from, trust me! You should stick around and try explaining all of Wiggins statements over recent years. It's an impossible task really, even Vaughters doesn't attempt to do so.

Rivals? When did this happen? By this you would think that Wiggins was actually in competition with Armstrong instead of spending years trying to hang onto the back of the autobus while Armstrong was racing. In 2009 Wiggins was just happy to get fourth while Armstrong could not be seen to be chasing down his teammate. Some serious revisionist history here.

Brailsford and the SKY/BC press office have been manipulating the fawning and dull, British media in what cycling "really" is, for years. Removing Yates and Sutton out of the pack whilst appearing to shuffle it, is going to be another stunt needing the skills of Fran. Look, over there, behind you - a fire !
