Interviewer: You used to race against Lance Armstrong?
Wiggins: Well that's a myth. I never actually raced against Lance Armstrong. In my whole reign [sic] really. I raced once against him in the Criterium International 2004, never at the Tour de France... um yeah so that was the only time really.

Maybe Fran the PR girl sent the wrong notes to the wrong riders![]()
Parker said:This is why riders don't say anything. Even if they support USADA's case and denounce Armstrong and say everything that people wanted them to people still have to find some fault in it because they referred to Armstrong's Tour winning years and not the comeback years. As though it's important.
David Moncoutie got it right. 16 years a pro and not one single word about doping. Ever. And he's an untouchable.
Learn the lesson riders. Only speak if you can say what everyone wants to hear simultaneously and absolutely don't leave any minor errors.

Dear Wiggo said:Brad called Vino a cheat and hoped he could win the TdF tt in 2 years, by not beating someone in 5th place by 2 minutes.
Brad called Floyd a drunk, and said he was not believable.
Brad said Lance is one of his heroes.
Brad said Kerrison got him to change his cadence and something about the gears and rolling resistance.
Brad's said lots of things over the years - I've gone looking for them. This is just one of many such instances. Since 2009, the things Brad has said have all sounded like they're coming from a little kid who's been sprung with his hand in the cookie jar.
Dear Wiggo said:...Brad said Lance is one of his heroes..
"I love him," Wiggins said. "I think he's great..."
JRanton said:Minor error? Seriously? Come on...
A cynic would say he didn't wish to draw attention to the fact that he raced two Tour's in 2009 and 2010 against a doping Armstrong and finished in extremely close proximity to him on both occasions. Why? Because it doesn't fit in well with the narrative that this all happened decades ago and that cycling has ''moved on''.
Remember the wider British public wouldn't have a clue that Armstrong and Wiggins raced two TdF's together and the press are unlikely to pick him up on it either.

Do his seemingly conflicting public statements result from an intent to deceive, or could it be that he his simply none too bright?
Parker said:A person with a brain would know he just simply said 'my' instead of 'his'. A very minor error.
(Notice how you and others ignore the 'in my, er, whole reign' part of the sentence. What do you think that meant?)
Desparate.
I had no idea Dodger drove a Ferrari on holidays on Tenerife. Dr Who? Leinders? Robbed a bank? Never heard of him

Seven consecutive Tour de France wins says it all but Lance was not someone who inspired me in the same way as the other names here. He was one of the fiercest rivals I’ve ever faced. To go toe-to-toe with him in 2009 was a dream come true. He revolutionised the sport and brought it to a much wider audience. His cancer survival story is incredible, and the sport has a great deal to thank him for – not least for raising its profile so that big sponsors are attracted to it.

Freddythefrog said:Brailsford and the SKY/BC press office have been manipulating the fawning and dull, British media in what cycling "really" is, for years. Removing Yates and Sutton out of the pack whilst appearing to shuffle it, is going to be another stunt needing the skills of Fran. Look, over there, behind you - a fire !

Is it just me, or do their last 2 Tour outings together look like they were on identical programs?
