Interesting article in the Daily Telegraph last night:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/othersports/cycling/lancearmstrong/9605632/Sean-Yates-and-all-Team-Sky-employees-will-be-asked-to-confirm-they-have-not-breached-drug-free-policy.html

The gist seems to be that they had no idea about Barry or Leinders having a drug-related past, and that "anyone confessing to a doping past is likely to lose their job". Basically, Brailsford "is determined to make good on the commitment to not employ anyone with a doping past".

Now... I'm getting on a bit, so my memory isn't what it used to be... but, after the death of Txema Gonzalez, didn't Sky say they were dropping the 'zero tolerance' policy because they needed experienced people in certain roles, and you just couldn't find experienced people that weren't in some way connected to teams that had doped?

Also, leaving that aside, doesn't this article imply that Brailsford has no idea that Sean Yates failed a drug test?

The claim that "Team Sky have always conducted due diligence on their employees to defend their zero-tolerance position" obviously doesn't extend to using google.

(Because, if you type "sean ya" into google, "sean yates doping" is offered as a suggestion of what you might be looking for.)

Understandable considering that the only public domain sentence was on the low profile case of one silly guy... god what was his name... the thin guy... Ahh yes. Michael Rasmussen. But that was for a very unimportant race in France. It only made all national papers in the Netherlands, so DB couldn't read all that gibberish.

That Sky get away with this is disgusting.

Love the irony that the 2 'clean' teams have the biggest links to doping - at least vaughters prepared the ground for his team but all this wide eyed 'gosh we never knew' guff from sky is hilarious

POSSONI & Rodgers linked to Ferrari, leinders giving leipheimer epo, Yates & motoman - am waiting eagerly for the 'we were just exchanging gardening tips' defence there

OOOH Lookee what i found.

Wiggins writing in the Daily Mail.

Seven consecutive Tour de France wins says it all but Lance was not someone who inspired me in the same way as the other names here. He was one of the fiercest rivals I’ve ever faced. To go toe-to-toe with him in 2009 was a dream come true. He revolutionised the sport and brought it to a much wider audience. His cancer survival story is incredible, and the sport has a great deal to thank him for – not least for raising its profile so that big sponsors are attracted to it.

Brailsford and the SKY/BC press office have been manipulating the fawning and dull, British media in what cycling "really" is, for years. Removing Yates and Sutton out of the pack whilst appearing to shuffle it, is going to be another stunt needing the skills of Fran. Look, over there, behind you - a fire !

Yes the past doping habits of the elder members of the Sky team need a good investigation by the UK press !!!

Yeah sure!

If that happens these people will be paid big money for their silence.

Now if Brailsford can look into those with a doping present that might also help.

Proof is in the pudding. When they are kicked out then I'll believe it. When Sky start being as transparent as they claim, then I'll believe it. When Sky stop acting like USP-lite when challenged by the media then I'll believe it.

One of the " dangers" facing Sky is that the non Murdock owned press will probably relish digging up any dirt they can that paints Sky in a bad light.
Murdock is pretty much a figure of hatred and resentment for a good portion of the British press.
BC have, in my view, made a a grave mistake becoming so cosy with Sky... they've no doubt benefited hugely but it seems to me no one stopped to think what happens when Murdock,s filthy lucre stops?. If you go to the BC website its like an advertorial for Sky.
EVERY sponsorship deal eventually ends and when this one ends..with such a over the top identity with Sky I suspect replacing them could be very difficult because of the strength of that identity.
BC really have not thought this through...we could see British Cycling crash and burn in much the same way UK Athletics did some years ago.

They don't. They just speak English.
Katusha have just employed Armstrong's most loyal lieutenant as head DS and Astana have appointed Vino into a similar position.
Neither give a toss what you think and know that the media aren't going to learn Russian in a hurry. They all say 'I don't do English', so they're off the hook

The thing is the BBC and the Guardian are both so firmly on the British cycling rah rah rah bandwagon that they won't do anything.

Sadly it looks like the Torygraph and Mail are the only ones doing any digging.

Yeah, it'll be Yates.

Time for some action Mr Brailsford. Tick tock.

A prominent insider with intimate knowledge of the doping era has also told The Mail on Sunday that a fourth person from Team Sky - a current senior employee - has opted to 'live a lie' in regards to his doping past.

Don't you just love the British press?!?!

They won't let this one drop. The Daily Mail won't for sure.

They've got to bail on Yates and fast because they the Mail already knows they're just going to drip feed it for the next 3 weeks.

Normally hate the Daily Mail. I'm however willing to let this one go by without complaining.

I think Yates's time is up. He won't outlive this one.

If he was on another team then fine but not Sky.

Has this article been linked to yet? Sounds like the British press are putting 2 and 2 together

..."Yet everyone is talking about how the sport is ‘moving on’ and ‘looking forward, not back’. To listen to Team Sky chief David Brailsford, the man who boasted his outfit would be scrupulously clean and use a zero-tolerance policy on drugs, this was all a blinding revelation to him.
‘The more you read, the more the jaw drops,’ he said. ‘Armstrong was one of the first cyclists that maybe transcended the sport. It was an amazing thing, so to now find out what was behind it is disappointing.’
Brailsford says he only found out now.
But Canadian Michael Barry was at Team Sky. The same Barry that used to ride alongside Armstrong. The same Barry was named in the USADA report confessing to years of EPO and testosterone use within Armstrong’s team.
Barry claims he stopped doping in 2006, before he joined Bradley Wiggins and Team Sky in 2009. But since he lied beforehand it’s up to you whether you believe him now. Coincidentally, one month before the damning USADA report was issued, Barry retired from Team Sky.
At least Britain’s Tour de France champion, Wiggins, admitted that, while he was shocked by the scale of evidence, he was not by the facts themselves. ‘I’m not surprised by it — I had a good idea what is going on,’ he said.
It’s all a bit of a puzzle, isn’t it? Wiggins says he knew what Armstrong was up to. Ex- team-mate Barry certainly knew. Brailsford says otherwise and insists that Barry lied to him about past doping. Someone’s certainly gullible. As long as it’s not you or me."
