Was that before he was known as a peodophile?

Do I look like the queen? Actually don't answer that. He's dead anyway and its only now its coming to light, but there were rumours apparently

I am very suspicious of Mick Rogers and Froome.

I am quite prepared to see how this plays out, if I'm wrong I'm wrong, but if not I'll be looking for posts from you and plenty of others saying you were wrong.

Although I doubt the conspiracy theories will ever totally go away.

I'm glad you said this - it shows you're honest. My suspicion index of Sky became code orange on the Joux Plane in the Dauphiné. Then my suspicion raised to code red when I heard Roger's arrogant dismissal of the chances of Cadel and Tejay getting away on the Col de la Croix de Fer because he felt nobody could maintain the wattage they were. How could he know this? How could he be so sure of himself? It's not like at that moment he knew Evans was sick or lacking form.

I am quite sure these two moments help explain why this thread is approaching 8,000 posts.

Sorry to bring this back up....but Mapei was 1996.

In 1994, Gewiss-Ballan captured the full podium in La Fleche Wallonne. Team Dr. was Ferrari.

As far as Steven De Jongh's testimony is concerned, he certainly holds back too much, keeping manager's and team mates out of trouble, doing nothing for clean cycling.

It does, but there are other factors too, because there are plenty of dodgy teams out there.

As for honesty, I am just trying to make it clear I'm voicing an opinion. People frequently say 'you say Sky are clean but....' but that's it, I'm not saying Sky are clean, I'm saying I think they're clean (to a large extenet) and there is a big difference. Too many times opinions and speculation are presented as definitive facts. None of us know the truth absolutely, but there are a fair few that try to present their opinions as such.

Remember Berzin won Giro d´Italia the same year (with Moreno Argentin wearing pink during a couple of days).

So another Lance Supporter, ALEX DOWSETT leaves the sinking ship. Coincidence ??

No. Just more bad timing. He was never likely to be renewed at Sky after 2 years of far too many injuries and no serious results. The rumour was always that he'd be off to BMC. Movistar is a surprise for sure, but can you really think he organised a new team contract in a week or 2? This must have been on the cards since July.

Dowsett isn't very good so he has left to join a team which isn't very good. No need to read anything more into it than that.

Meanwhile Sky hire the following riders from a not very good team...

[BLR] KIRYIENKA Vasil < Movistar Team
[ESP] LOPEZ GARCIA David < Movistar Team

Doesn't seem a fair trade really...

You're likely right - still, can't help think Sky will be a bit relieved - his comments re: Armstrong were seriously stupid.

The stupid thing that Brailsford did not do is foresee this situation arising.

It was inevitable that Armstrong was going to get busted. The psychological make up of Armstrong meant he was going to get exposed sooner or later a he kept making enemies.

So Brailsford should have had people admit to their past and sign a contract stating that their time with Sky was going to clean and transparent. But that would have meant they are a clean team ;) but they aren't are they.

And what if BSkyB, News Corp and Sky Italia, the companies that actually OWN the team and not only sponsor it, wouldn't agree to that?

People are missing the fact that it's not Brailsford driving the policy. It's Sky, the company, who know full well that the British press and wider British public wouldn't accept the Vaughters/Ellis policy of being comfortable with having known former dopers on the team.

All Sky can do is manage their own team.
The cycling world has changed, post Lance: Skt’s own aims and objectives were not being met, so they have gone back to basics. It remains to be seen how this will play out next year and beyond. I’d be less worried about loosing 2 DS’s as I would about the evidence from the Vuelta, which is that other teams are catching up with whatever it is Sky have been doing (weight loss, staying healthy, good recovery). In a few years time we’ll know more of the detail and be able to judge its success, but I for one wish them (and Garmin) well

Bahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

How many teams have lost soigneurs to mystery bacterial infections in the last 3 years?

Question for the Sky fanboys or anyone who believes Sky are clean:

is Movistar a clean team?

If not, how do Sky justify hiring 2 top tier-ish riders from that team?

Or does the "dirtiness" of a team reside solely with the team management, and not its riders?

Sorry, not a fan boy or fan, but said riders are immediately within the 'Sky family' and so will fit in very well.

I hate to quote Wiggins but Father Christmas is more believable than a a clean Cobo/Movistar win in Spain 2011.
