I was actually thinking of suggesting to the other mods on here that this thread is closed for 2012.

It's become stale with just thrust and parry without much else.

Not sure if there is a way to get a consensus on this without seeming to be favouring one side stopped me:(

Warn and sanction posters who you think are ruining the discussion, dont close the thread for everyone.

Hardly worth it now, with 1 week to go, and it will all kick off again in the New Year when Sky start winning again.

I agree with the sentiment though. We've all, and I include myself within that, been regurgitating the same arguments and counter arguments for months, without any changing of opinions or anything new and tangible coming to light to stimulate something different.

I've no intention of closing any thread, just saying it might be an idea to start again in 2013 with a fresh Sky thread when TDU starts. Just throwing ideas in the air here to get away from the tired posts that go back and forward on this thread without joy.

It was more of a ..lets draw a line under 2012..thing....we can pick this nonsense up again, afresh in 2013;)

Why would a new thread draw a line under anything? All the same arguments will come up again in the new thread.

So you'd see a guy, who's already won a genuine Classic and medalled at the WCs, and who's somebody that everybody's been tipping as a future Monument winner for several years, winning a couple of big races next year as more 'dots' of evidence?

With people like you around, the only way this thread is going to slow down is if they just go for mid-peloton mediocrity in every race.

By the way, Mellow Velo and I, earlier in the thread, did state that Sky hadn't abandoned Tenerife, and would probably be returning, for the valid reasons we also stated a few pages prior to that.

he's so quiet it's as if he's got something to hide and is afraid of saying something he shouldn't say if he opened his mouth. ON IT!

Not at all. You are assuming Sky will have the year that they did this year. Which I doubt they will. Anyway, as I said was just throwing things in the air.

Ne pas from me on this. Toe in the water, firmly out:rolleyes:

Just be zen about it. I came to the conclusion there's no point falling out with anyone just because you disagree that x, y or z are doping or not. Especially since I stopped drinking whisky.

When Michelle Smith De Bruin was finally done, it was for the amount of whiskey found in her urine sample. The science bods said it was enough to kill a large animal, and no human could have survuved that concentration.

It always puzzled me michelle didn't go with the "But I'm bloody Irish - of course it's 90% proof!!" defence. Much of Ireland would have considered that highly plausible! ;)

Em, Garmin, anyone? Garmin make far more PR of their anti-doping efforts. Which given the set up of the team is ientirely understandable. Sky are no different in terms of what they claim than say GreenEdge. Where are the 10,000 posts on GreenEdge?

Are you really going to defend White, Stephens, Weltz etc etc? Most people take it for a fact that these characters are involved in doping, it doesn't require a year of back and forth to figure that out.

You'll have to point out where I 'defended' any of these people - because for the life of me I can't see it. Why are you attacking a strawman?

You didn't. That's exactly his point.

There ARE posts on White, and many other people in pro cycling accused of doping. But noone defends them, coz we all just accept that he is most likely a doper, even though, for example, he never did anything performance-wise to warrant the accusation.

The only reason there are "10, 000 posts on Sky" is because after 2-3 posts outlining reasons why Sky look dodgy, there are more than 2-3 posts disagreeing, attacking the "Sky haters", etc.

He's not attacking a strawman. He's explaining WHY there are 10,000 posts in the Sky thread.

I don't think it would be proper to close a thread on the
most popular team in the world as voted by readers of
this website. A thread about a team that is three times
as popular (yes three times!) as the second placed team,
a team that is four times as popular as the third placed
team, a team that is eight times as popular as the fourth
placed team should remain open so the over 10,000 readers
of this website that admire Sky can read with amusement
the rabid rantings of the vocal few that don't.

EDIT: over 13,800 readers

Noooo!

This stalemate is reminiscent of trench warfare and I am looking forward to seeing the Hog and Jimmy Fingers play football in No Man's Land on Christmas Day!

Brailsford with his finger on the pulse again:

According to Jimmy there are several Doctors in the peloton worse than Leinders!

Former Rabobank team doctor Geert Leinders played a central role in doping at that team, according to a Dutch media report. Levi Leipheimer is said to have named the doctor in his statement to USADA in the Lance Armstrong investigation.

The Dutch website nrc.nl claims to have seen an uncensored version of Leipheimer's affidavit, in which he said “I continued to use EPO while with Rabobank in 2002, 2003 and 2004, and was also assisted in using by the Rabobank team doctor Geert Leinders, from whom I purchased EPO.” The name of the doctor was blacked out in the publicly released version of the document.

is jimmy on team sky.................who cares what he thinks?

in my opinion ferrari , fuentes , del moral and celaya were worse

even if leinders assisted rabobank riders to dope what evidence is there that

he worked other than to the clean policy at team sky?

Shocking to think that he was hired by Sky. We all know Ferrari & Funetes work alone and are not hired by teams direct so it's mystifying why he was hired by the Sky and on the payroll.

As ever with Sky there are a lot more questions than answers.

Frankly I'm disappointed. We've been sold a lie.

If Leipheimer has indeed said that then it is damning indeed for Leinders who up until their point has been guilty by association i.e. a Doctor for Rabobank while the team was known to endorse doping. As for other names I was thinking of people like Andreazzoli and Mikhailov.

Hoggo, believe it or not I don't come here to score points off people, unlike you. I'm just interested in the truth.

And stop quoting yourself, it's tawdry.

However I wonder how Leinders fits in anyway, since you know Sky are working with Ferrari

For me it's important to put personal differnces aside with the delivery of this news.

I'm in shock at the extent of Leinders involvement in doping. Not only administering, but selling.

How Sky hired him, I don't know. I'd like to see some form of statement from Sky.

I need a few moments now to take in the gravity of the situation.

The news is damming.

but while delivering the news.........you mock jimmy?

hoggie if only you acted as you request others to act.........this thread is
full of inconsistancies in your actions

news about leinders is pre team sky.............leinders has now left team sky

we need to know exactly how he looked after team sky riders
