If sky have their best team in a hypothetical grand tour and everyone is riding for themselves, how many riders would they get in the top 10?

Wiggins, Dawg, Porte and Henao are locks.

Uran, Cataldo and Kiryenka are probable.

I feel like im missing someone too. When was the last time a team had so many of the best riders in the world? Its just ridiculous.

Lopez will be up there as well.

Siutsou has had a Giro top 10 as well a couple of years ago.

Depends on how much they focus on the road. If they forget about track cycling completely then they will be future grand tour contenders.

I guess JTL is a dark horse. If he stays illness-free then he will probably be get a grand tour podium as well.
I see a massive parallel between JTL and Rogers - both swapped teams at the end of the year but neither have showed the form of last year and delivered so far for their new teams

I'm not sure of the real reasons for both of them having a drop in form. Perhaps best not to generalise...

none

if every rider is riding for themself then they each have to go back to the cars themselves for bottles. very easy to miss moves, get caught out with echelons etc. if they dont eat and drink right, they hit the wall

if they dont have team mates to help them pull breaks back, the other teams put their contenders into breaks, and they have noone to help them pull them back. Even the best riders ever seen would not be able to pull the peloton all day every day and win a GT in the process

No team mates to pass a wheel in the event of a puncture. A bike in a mechanical failure, or anyone to help them climb back to the peloton in the event of such an occurance (crashes included)

Probably not that much, the others although good (especially the Henao improvements) will be primarily there for the SkyTrain in the mountains not in the ITT.

I would love to see the Giro Podium as:
1. Wiggins 2. Henao 3. Uran
but I seriously doubt it, more like
1. Wiggins 2. Nibali 3. Hesjedahl
Hopefully Henao and Uran make the Top 10.

If Cataldo was given a free role, he could also finish Top 10 at a stretch, but he'll be burnt in the foothills...

One reason is going from a new Pro-Conti team to a WT team. Its a massive step up. He was team leader for most of the big races last year and now he is a lowly Dom. Learning the ropes etc. Its a MASSIVE step up.

If .... I .... thought ... Kerrison .... was .... doping .... the ... riders ... I .... would ... say ... that ... .

It is your opinion that it is absurd.

Like someone is going to stumble on the greatest breakthrough in cycling training for the past 20 years and spend it on one team.

Unless they're paying him a bucketload, it makes no sense.

I'ts ... really ... easy ... to ... be ... condescending ... however ... I ... suggest ... you ... read ... what ... I ... wrote.

I said it looked as though you were making a reductio ad absurdum argument, not me. So it makes no sense that he is with sky, not doping the riders, stumbling on the greatest breakthrough and getting paid, comparitively, peanuts? So with all the other things being given, the logical conclusion is that Kerrison is doping the riders. No?

In any event was not the reason why Ferrari was getting paid shedloads was because he was invovled in highly illegal practices? Therefore, it would only make sense for Kerrison to go freelance if his methods were equally illegal?

No.

Correct answer.

Congratulations.

Example: did Chris Comical train Armstrong?

No. He made a lot of money because his "programs" worked and people won the races they wanted to.

No. He can make a lot of money because his "programs" - despite them being dope-free - allow his riders to win the races they want to.

There's marginal gains, natural talent, and training.

Marginal gains, for the most part, are not differentiated between Sky and the other teams. We have seen earlier that the Sky pillows are also used by a number of other teams is one example.

Natural talent is a given at this level. I am struggling to believe Bradley Autobus Wiggins is more talented on climbs and multi-stage races than Nibbles. And that the other Sky riders are so far above everyone else naturally (doing the same training).

Finally, we have training. Kerrison and his swimming training practices are touted as the reason why they are so much better.

I have no idea why Dario Cioni is there - maybe to handle any press that try to ambush Wiggins out training, coz Kerrison would clearly be incapable. But there's Wiggo, no team mates, no doctor, just his trainer, Kerrison. The reason for his success.

It's almost as if he wants to be discussed in the clinic. Saying that "the nights are the biggest problem for me at the moment" is easily interpreted as if he can't sleep due to thick blood. We all remember the EPO abusers from the 90's who had to get up during the night and exercise in order to avoid blood clots...

Mmmmm, not really.

Micky went from flyin to dyin. But has been at WT level for a while. Oh, and he self reported being stronger than ever (even with previous dopage fun)

JTL has just stepped up to the WT and is now racing in big races as a support rider. If he placed high right away, folks should be seeing their TVs explode it would be so over the top.
