Brailsford just confirming it on radio just now.

Their initial recruitment was not to hire people with doping convictions, it is now refined to only hiring people with no doping past.

They will offer significant compassionate support, not just financial, to anyone who 'fesses up' now but they will be let go.

They will immediately sack on the spot - with no financial help - anyone who signs the paper but is later - a month, two months etc - linked to doping.

Bobby Julich has left Sky and admitted to doping. So seems like the criticized "PR-stunt" with the contract wasn't just a PR stunt after all...

For all the **** Sky are getting on here, at least they are making an effort now. Meanwhile dirty liars like Kim Andersen, Ibarguren, Ekimov etc get to keep their jobs in their respective teams.

let's see how the clinic guys talk themselves out of this one.

Seems reasonable, glad they're making the details of their policy public.

That's a pretty credible cleanup. Of course Wiggins and Froome will stay, but maybe they'll knock it back next year.

The issue is that most riders, personnel, teams are involved. So the silent ones get a pass?
This is the problem. But Julich getting canned doesn't upset me one bit, pro cycling is better off without him. Somehow I don't think he's out yet, though. Dopers always find their way back to the sport. And as long as dopers are in charge of teams, cycling will never be clean.

He'll be ok because he upheld omerta and was very clear about not implicating Riis. He's been a 'good boy' in the eyes of the peloton.

The Other Side

It is not likely Sky can get rid of everyone with a doping "past", .... But it sure looks like they'll be able to purge anyone likely to talk about it.

I don't know if the interview with Brailsford that broadcast on 5 Live this evening is available in its entirety. The man could not have made things more plain. Sky haven't doped. They don't dope. They will not dope. They do it clean.

Of course, there will still be those that don't believe him...but they'll mostly be clinic loons or Australians disappointed at their nation's disappointing sporting year (thrashed by clean Poms for heaven's sake).

Well then the only question is, if sky are so clean and pure, why did they hire all these people with dodgy pasts in the first place?

This is the guy who said he was shocked about Armstrong and surprised about it all.

Can he not read? LA Confedintial and Lance to Landis surely are must reads for a DS wanting to run a clean team? Never mind being interested in modern cycling!

Brailsford says they are clean. hallelulyah! They are clean, cue trumpets, brass band, now we can all go home happy!

what other doctor would you have hired or team director that isn't tainted by the past? yates wasn't exactly known as the master mind of us epostal either  they would've gone with manolo saiz or bruyneel if they really wanted to dope

Not sure if youre trolling or not, but the world is full of doctors. Im sure it would be possible to find one that didnt have a reputation as a former doping doctor.

Chortle. The best part is that where Wiggins is concerned, none of those that think he doped will ever be able to gloat and say "Told ya".

It's funny because from the day I first started following cycling that wasn't local cyclo cross (the Fignon/Lemond years) I watched assuming that every single one of them was doping. I'm surprised to find that Lemond was clean....apparently.

This didn't really change for me until the last couple of years. Now, I can't in all honesty assume that they're all doping. It doesn't add up. That's a good feeling to have.

I'm glad Sky are purging their old school staff. It's about PR (because the team is already competing clean) but I think they need to be seen to be completely clean. Leinders was evidence of that. Maybe Yates and Rogers need to go too...possibly others. Brailsford seemed sad but reconciled to it.

It ought to please the fundamentalists. It probably won't but that's their loss.

Agree with Cineteq. The message Sky sends to kids is that they should cheat and they should never admit it because if they admit it they will be punished.

Sky is not sending an antidoping message, they are sending an anti-truth message.

How is sky saying young riders SHOULD cheat?

No one believes in Father Christmas any more. Although some spaniards seem to want to continue to visit the grotto.
