It's vital that people like that are involved now because they have seen how it used to be and they can remind today's riders of how cycling was. He's seen the problems that were there in the past; he never agreed with what was going on, and was one of the sane people who were in the sport at the time. We need guys like Geert Leinders because on top of being a bloody good doctor with a heap of experience, guy like him can play a role, explaining to riderss lile Ben Swift, Luke Rowe and Peter Kennaugh - young lads who are determined to race clean - what it was like in the past and how lucky they are to be racing now.

ffs, where can i puke.
and to realize that vaughters and walsh buy this ****.

Let's not forget that the reason Leinders reportedly left Rabobank was due to their zero tolerance policy and that he didn't believe such a policy belonged in cycling. We're then supposed to believe that just 12 months later, the ''highly recommended'' Dr Leinders shows up at Team Sky, supposedly a zero tolerance ''clean'' team, has an epiphany and starts warning young riders about doping.

I have to ask, does anyone seriously believe that to be the case and does anyone seriously believe that Brailsford and Sky weren't fully aware of Leinders' past doping history when they decided to hire him?

If you do believe that, then would you mind dropping me a PM with your bank account details and pin numbers. There's a Nigerain bloke I know who has an extremely interesting investment opportunity.

Seems like a lot of the team sky scientists have forgotten about Occam's razor

I think Sky should hire Ferrari so he can warn them about how cycling used to be...

Are Sky doping?

Yes. 100% Sky are doping.

Without a shadow of doubt.

Or maybe e question should be.... are they clean?

I don't know.

I appreciate your candor.

perhaps he saw jesus after leaving rabo?

When Jesus returned to Jerusalem just before the final supper and his crucifixion there was the laying down of palm branches to commemorate his return. Prophesied by Zachariah.

I see quite a few palm branches in that photo. I also see a Sky acolyte or wannabee apostle. I wonder where the prophecy of Leinders return is coming from?

So did he see Jesus or find Jesus? Nah, this guy thinks he is the messianic version of a doping deity. Now only for Pontius Pilate to turn up and let the masses have their way with him/Leinders/Sky. :p

Is there any information from Rasmussen that will change people's views of whether Sky is doping or not? I doubt it. Those who think Sky are doping will continue to think so, those who don't they are have not got much more info to suggest otherwise and those in the middle will continue to wait and see.

Well I doubt it changes anyone's final verdict but at least puts an end to the notion of Leinders having a legitimate involvement in cycling.

Yes, but I think the details of Rasmussen shed knew light on the depth of his involvement. Rasmussen trusted Leinders' decision to keep drugs in the fridge, Leinders received blood bags from a courier and administered the transfusions.

Interesting that both Landis and Rasmussen were both considered 'outsiders' once they were both banned. Having been put in this position they have nothing to lose and finally tell all.

I am curious how the consensus to let someone back into pro cycling is made. Basso, Vino and Valverde had no such problems. And, it is not as if Landis and Rasmussen had given up anything prior to being rejected out of sight. I guess with Rasmussen you could argue his age went against him...

The guy that runs Skys service course just posted on Facebook / twitter that he is happy to read that Leinders was not alone #scapegoat

@andyverall

I wonder if this is related to his time at Rabobank or at Sky?

It does very much seem like personality and circumstance has as much to do with this as any objective criteria, but then isn't that generally true in pretty much most circumstance? That people judge other people based on personality and sometimes completely arbitrary factors (let's face it, Rasmussen has funny eyes. . .) is fairly much a fact of life.

I always got the impression that Rasmussen was a bit of a loner so maybe he just had not made enough 'friends'. Some people know how to play the game and some don't.

Wow, I make that about 5 pages of gloating since I was here, impressive work

Are Rasmussen's latest comments about ex-Sky doctor Leinders not worthy of discussion in the Sky thread?

As long as they aren't along the lines of 'where are the Skybots? What do they have to say for themselves?''

Right. It shows that Leinders wasn't just some doctor who happened to work for a team where some doping was happening. He was involved in the doping himself. Among other things, this makes Wiggins' comments about Leinders in his book look really stupid.

Whether or not Wiggins himself was aware of Leinders' doping activities is at issue, of course.
