There was some good, interesting debate today, but I check the forum after the commute home and the sneering is back in full effect (although not by your/ good self). It's just boring and predictable, more about scoring points off each other than actually getting somewhere constructive, as evidenced by the cat's intelligent response

That's right Jimmy. When people don't agree with you they're just sneering and being sarcastic.

When you make sarcastic comments that Sky must be doping because someone got fourth its not sneering ;)

You do go on. You really do.

Have you seen the size of Ed Clancy? He's hilarious when he does ride on the road, he's about a foot taller and wider than everyone else. He's not aero enough to win a GT ;)

Wiggins already is the tallest Tour de France winner since god knows when.

55 guys within 3 minutes on mountain top finish NOT NORMAL

27 within a minute

EDIT it is actually more than that, (they are GC figures) should be 61 & 31

This is what should be "normal". What is abnormal is 2-3 guys finishing 5 minutes ahead, then the rest scampering across the line.

I would argue this means the playing field is more level and more competitive without the doping.

But, I guess you are making some unfounded accusation that 50+ guys are all doped up with your statement.

That would work if we were arguing whether Purito or Valverde were doping. They only beat others by 30 seconds so thats more normal.

For wiggins what is suspicious is that he finished so far up there to begin with.

They're both more sprinters than "stayers" and marginal gaining them up to Tour standards might be a challenge too far.

Thomas and Kennaugh are much more worth waiting for.

Sorry if you were being ironic. It's hard to tell sometimes.

When's it going to happen with Kennaugh? When Sky started out he was the guy that was talked about as the British guy who would be the one to win the Tour de France. They wanted to win the Tour inside 5 years. It seemed Wiggins would be the first leader but a lot of the talk was about Kennaugh... but here we are three and a half years later, and he's still being completely and totally handled with kid gloves. I mean, Madrazo has been let off the leash more than him and Unzué is notorious for being cautious with young talents.

Instead he's been doing the same role for three years while people for whom the expectations were way less have suddenly vaulted way over him in the depth chart.

You think that's suspicious?

Compares to what the other sky guys has done this year it's the most legitimate thing of the year ;)

Wiggins is taller. Clancy is just too fat and lazy. If he loses 15 kg while increasing his power like Wiggins then why cant he win the tour as well?

With the 'marginal gains' he will be given at Sky, why not?

I thought warming down was THE marginal gain to ridicule. When did that change to warming up? Can I be informed of any other marginal gains to ridicule please (some good ones in Cycling Anthology iirc). thanks:D

clipless pedals/cleats = marginal gain
Tri bars = marginal gain
Teardrop helmet = marginal gain
Carbon frame = marginal gain
Tubular tyres = marginal gain
Electronic shifting = marginal gain
Skinsuits = marginal gain
Aero over shoes = marginal gain

Sport is full of them, its only the ones in soundbites from Sky staff that get the ridicule

Kennaugh would not be the first to be tipped for glory and fail to deliver. Not his fault, though. No one can accurately predict how a 19 year old will develop.

I think his road development has been sacrificed for the Team Pursuit last year. If he really is good enough, he will feature prominently in one gt train or another this year.

Movistar got 1-2 with the biggest climbing talent of the last decade (or more) and with one of the biggest dopers of the last decade, that is why no1 is having a go at them. Because no1 really has any faith in valverde and people are willing to give quintana the benefit of the doubt.

a bit different from the out of nowhere british GC explosion of wiggins and froome.

Maybe some riders respond differently to marginal gains? Wiggins and Froome and Porte are clearly super responders. Rogers too, but it seems his memory is failing and he has forgotten everything he learnt at Sky.

I'm sorry, no1? I don't do text speak. Type properly and I'll respond

If you ask for balance I suggest you don't refer to someone as 'Dr Evil'

No your right Jimmy, the people of Twit have no right to refer to a persons appearance. Close down social networks and leave it all to News Corp., Right

So you think mocking someone's appearance makes an argument valid? It is a childish indulgence. You want to make a point, make a point,
