To be fair no-one's ever said Wiggins isn't a massive w@nker.

At least I haven't. But being obnoxious isn't a crime, else we'd all be in prison

The thing is, since July, the British public has had it up the *** with articles about what an amazing guy wiggins is.

I dont know how anyone can spin this as anything other than an enormous improvement for Sir Wiggins.

Taking around 2 minutes on everyone (except for Phinney) in a year, thats insane.

Copenhagen at the end of the season, Wiggins' program was already messed up doing the Vuelta after 7 days in July. In 2012, London after the Tour was the goal right from the start. He would have ensured he had something left after the Tour.

Another point is that he was in the form of his life at the Olympics. Whilst the World championships were after his main season goal had been compromised. He had not built up as he would have liked and had crashed out of the Tour just a few months prior.

Your not really in the form of your life for a 1 day time trial if you have just finished a 3 week gt at full effort (and won) and have lost 20kg or whatever the **** it was, to get up the mountains.

Oh and you just did a 4 man 260km team pursuit in the road race 3 days earlier, where he got praised as having put in the most impressive 1 days work in road cycling history

edit: oh and i agree that comparing copenhagen to london is extremely flawed if only that you cant possibly conclude anything from a sample of 2.

This, admittedly, is undeniable. And since we get flooded with British newspapers, I can assure you, it's a two island phenomena...

Wiggins on UK radio this morning. Appears that Brailsford has the unenviable toss a coin decision whether to pick Wiggins or Froome to win the TdF this year. I got the district impression that if Brailsford doesn't pick Wiggins, he may have one of his tantrums.

Pick me me me me me.....

sorry, Froome dawg will be pushing sisyphus in vaughters territory, if it comes down to mano a mano. Wiggins is the only one they will ride for.

like hinault promising. sometimes the strongest cant win, because a race is off the bike, fighting with one hand behind their back not queensberry rules.

Digger is poking fun a Wiggin's amnesia on the twitter machine,

Just re-read that: a good read. Wiggins is proper mental, the Tour is looking very spicy, I hope neither crash before.

The girlfriends/wives getting their claws out on Twitter again should a fun subplot too

Of course the press are going to talk him up. Unless he says something racist, hits his wife or gets exposed as a drugs cheat he's going to be left alone while he's winning.

Plus after his stand up routine at Sports personality last year the public already like him without the press giving him the soft-focus effect. Oh yeah, and they voted for him to win that. The British public like him, so they like reading stories about what a great guy he is. If he commits any of the afore mentioned offences the media stories will change and you'll see his life get picked apart and previously ignored character traits and acts pounced upon and mercilessly picked apart. A bit like this place.

The papers write what the public want to hear.

I did that too, I stil stink at TT'ing though.

Are you really, really, really believing this kinda stuff?

I really hope Tony Martin has watched closely last year how the new TT god sir Brad b e a t c h slapped him, time after time.

Oh wait, wasnt it about cadence?

This is Disney stuff, really.

Marx brothers couldnt even come up with these comedy capers.Because Brits are the mark for how good TT'ing should/could/would be?

It makes me laugh the amount of suckers that have been pulled in by his book.

"Oh yeh, in his book it says how much harder he trains than other teams, its really cutting edge stuff"

Aye, ok then.

What? You mean, like Contador?

I reckon Froome could do a Contador to Wiggin's. The extra motivation will help.

Also other teams might assist, cant imagine Sky have any friends in the peloton. Froome to sign for OPQS (or other similar, BMC?)for next year if Sky dont back him this TdF if Wiggins rides it.

Just on Wiggins (lack of) TT pedigree, when he set the British 10 mile record in 2006 while riding for Cofidis, just under 18 minutes (33.4mph av), would that be considered as showing some TT potential?

So when will Hitchinson win a Pro TT? He did 17-57 (a whole second faster)

This was back in 2006. One presumes Hutch perhaps didn't want to pursue life as conti pro. Who knows. Why don't you ask him? Still 17-57 for a 10miler is shockingly bad. Bloody slow coaches.

Is this the same Hutchinson who in the 2012 British 25 mile TT beat SKY pro Alex Dowsett by 7 seconds, who in that years World TT champs came 8th?

I think he'll pick Michelle.

I hope Brailsford doesn't poor the Dawg's bloodbag down the sink.

I was confused at first too - I think he means Dowsett came 8th, Hutchy beat him elsewhere.
