That's not the author, it's the voice of veloclinic. It used to be much worse.

I never understood why the hell that info on that site was ever presented in the fashion that it was. I stopped bothering to decipher any of it a long time ago, regardless of the content. Not sure if they were trying to be cryptic, clever or convoluted. I stopped caring either way though.

Certainly looks fairly suspicious doesn't it?

The article suggests Sky are investigating further as a result of their own internal controls, would be very interesting to know whether that has been genuinely initiated by them or has been prompted by a letter from the blood passport people. . . If Dave Walsh is reading this maybe he could try hitting up some of his contacts at the UCI from the JTL case to find out more. . .

JTL 2.0 coming up.
Cleans Colombian.
Could explain Uran's sudden lack of form. I know thats for another thread.

edit: I would be happy if another rider is busted, particularly a higher profiled person. Plenty of doping going on in the peloton and the anti doping unit needs to start catching the cheaters, not just the Sayars of this world.

What will the clinic say if they've caught one of their own riders with their own internal controls?...surely that would be a good thing, wouldnt it demonstrate that doping at Sky is an individual endeavour and not part of a team wide doping program?

Sounds like a lot of spin to say Henao has suspicious values.

What? The Sky release or the replies that have already appeared here?

Looks as if they've gone pro active in the light of the JTL mess.
Would have thought looking into the effect of altitude on BVs was a good thing.
Another case of the wrong team doing the right thing.

No, it would demonstrate they don't let riders get past certain values. That's compatible with having a policy of being cleans, but also with having a team wide doping program and with outsourcing it for individuals.

it does indeed look very suspicious...love their headline...nothing like a bit of spin...a 'research programme' :)

they've managed however to issue a non-story today about Thomas winning the Tour though...that's what gets the BBC website headline rather than the...eh.....suspicious blood values...funny that

From the article:

"In our latest monthly review, our experts had questions about Sergio’s out-of-competition control tests at altitude - tests introduced this winter by the anti-doping authorities. We need to understand these readings better."

These were not internal tests. It would be interesting to know if results of all tests are returned to the team and that is why they acted on it, but I have a suspicion this has been raised with them by the ADA.

This could be interpreted in so many ways dependant on your initial point of view.

Are sky being proactive? Are they bothered because they think he's juicing or bothered because he's at risk of getting caught? Does this come from the UCI? Is this a team wide thing or a(nother) rogue rider?

Basically, it tells us nothing other than someone somewhere has decided he's not racing for a few weeks. Everything else could be anywhere on the continuum from 100% truth and transparency to smoke and mirrors.

yup...and "someone somewhere" once told pantani he wasn't racing for two weeks..;)

According to Daniel Benson's twitter feed it seems not - Sky are the ones telling the UCI.

UCI tell CN they were informed about Henao recently, as in the last few days. Say JTL case is ongoing.

That's what it's looking right now. . .

That doesn't really make much sense at first glance. If they had a policy of allowing doping but not letting riders get past 'certain' values, surely they'd just pull Henao from the Ardennes with a 'back injury' and not do a press release about it all? Certainly if, as it appears, the values in question haven't been flagged by the UCI?

Another masterfull, if highly suspicious, PR job from Sky... really amazing how you turn what was clearly "suspicious values" into a "the interesting results of our latest tests call for more scientific work from our labs, all for the glory of science...".
