I think we can all agree that fully independent testing is a desired outcome, regardless of this current issue.
Indeed, it is something that can and should be achieved, in time.

Why wait? To let the enablers get into gene doping or other methods......

This should have been a priority for Cookson. It is obviously not!

I'm not sure how having a Son in a lowly position at Sky would effect the allocation of WT points, or other administrative issues.

It is disappointing to think that it seems some folks believe this perceived
COI necessitates the removal of Cookson Snr from his post.
Just this week we have seen the inaugural Women's TOB; the first female race to match their male counterparts in prize money.
Also, this week, we have the UCI rectifying the Olympic track selection process that was a shambles at London.

Direct, major improvements, as opposed to highly speculative possibilities.

Real tangible improvements but nothing will say such the trolls here. Clear many of them aren't interested in improving cycling, just want to sit around taking the p!ss

Sky doping is not highly speculative. It is highly likely.
It is sad to realize that the current UCI president is one of their biggest fans and has clearcut reasons to protect sky should any unfortunate issues threaten to come to light.

I don't think he should stand down, as there is unlikely to be a decent replacement.
But it's disappointing nonetheless.

But the idea that protection is in place, because an offspring has a job, is.

Go back to when McQuaid was in office and when Sky were much more dominant than they are now.

Pat had no reason to protect Sky. No relative in any Sky slot.
In fact, when his position became under threat, he had every reason to drop a positive in Sky's lap.
He didn't make it happen.
Either, for some unkown reason, he couldn't break his own protection.
Or, there was no protection to break.

nobody says the protection is in place on the basis of this COI.
the point of a COI is that the connections are such that they might lead to improper conduct at some point. Such conduct is not necessarily already taking place. It may never take place. The COI causes that we cannot be sure. It damages the trust we can have in somebody and opens doors to speculation.
As I said, should something unfortunate wrt Sky threaten to come to light in the near or distant future, cookson will have a good reason to protect them. it´s not certain that he actually will protect them, or that he´s protecting them right now, but the COI causes that Cookson can no longer be trusted to be independent in this regard.

We have no idea what is happening behind the scene.
The Cookson&Son COI (plus all the other COI inherent to the current anti-doping system) warrants and evokes distrust, speculation, rumor.
That's not the clinic's fault or kimmage's fault. It's the COI's fault, and it should therefore be removed.

How the henao case has been handled is quite odd. And there has been speculation about Sky receiving tip-offs. We can't tell whether Cookson has had anything to do with that. Cookson's COIs allows for speculation in that direction.
Remove the COIs, and there'll be less rumors of this kind.

As for Pat, perhaps the JTL leak was his work?

LS writes like a politician speaks.
Looks and sounds moderate, but has actually attacked the entire UK cycling system, for what amounts to being a "small pool".
Root for McQuaid? Sure. No family COI there.

Yet if LS post was about the American, Spanish, Italian etc cycling system. I'd bet you'd be saying 'Great post LS'.

Making bets over someone's reaction to a hypothetical situation isn't formulating an argument, it's a speculative accusation.

MV was anti-Armstrong/the Hog/USPS/Disco/OP etc etc but will not stand for the same thing being said about his beloved Team Sky/British cycling/cyclists.

Have a nice day Jimmy.

Maybe because Armstrong was doping, and MV is yet to be convinced the same thing is going on at Sky.

But still you're making bets about someone's reaction, and using that speculation to try to devalue their stated opinion. Bias works ways, I'm sure we could achieve many posters here of the same, no?

Good old Kimmage, finger on the pulse, using Twitter to grandstand about a fact that has been glaringly obvious for the four years Oli has been working for Sky. How long as Cookson been president now? Yawn

And that should be is outside of any COI, as it would be neither Cookson Jnr nor Snr.

Of course, there is a greater conflict anyway irrespective of who the UCI President is, and that is that the UCI President is a fan of the sport. He/she will always have as first priority a desire for the sport to thrive. The conflict is that multiple drug busts send it downwards not upwards.

Hence why all anti dopage should be run independently for all sports.

Cycling is full of families. Its hard not to have them spread through the sport. The McQuaid's were much the same.

It doesn't worry me too much but then again I don't see Cookson any different McQuaid. He is much the same and will allow drug use for the sport to prosper.

The way his administration dealt with the publication of Horner's passport demonstrates he has no interest in transparency.

Its a BAU at the UCI. Its just some of the players have changed. And its Sky no USPS getting the special treatment.

Well that just goes to show how different people can interpret the same thing differently.

When I read MV's posts I just see intelligent but slightly weary responses to the hairs trigger boys frotting themselves into a frenzy over nothing.

Oh look, there's a cloud in the blue sky. Must be the End of the World.

Problem with you, Benotti, is that you have nothing to say but you keep saying it.

There's plenty of intelligent and thoughtful stuff to be found from all three perspectives on Sky, which includes the Sky Hate Devotees but it doesn't include you.

The best thing you could do to support your side would be to just keep quiet.

I might not agree with all their reasoning but I value posts from people like Hitch, LS, Red F etc. I don't value yours and the post of yours that I quote is a prime example. Its not even funny.

The skybots, like your good self, are repeating the same ol story that the Armstrong fans posted.

You dont value my posts, why post this then........

I was kind of hoping youd have a moment of self-awareness.

But. Forget it. I actually came back just now to delete my post because really its just not worth it. Too late, you'd seen it, and so had your little like-minded friend

Pretty impressive.
3 personal attacks and zero contribution to what was a well manner and sensible debate.
Still sore over that GT chat.

Crude and completely uncalled for, but I know when I'm not wanted.
Time to watch the Giro.
