Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t Sky set a super high pace prior to Finestre to get rid of domestiques, so no one was up the road when Froome attacked which explains slower time.

I'm proud of that receipt. I lived the utter hate of those years, I lived every moment of obsession by that dozen mad people

you have to either be sick in the head or have absolutely no taste to not even be British and be a fan of Sky and/or Froome and this post confirms the former. you're a sick puppy. that is an insane way to live life.

my life, my real life outside these pages, is not influenced by Team Sky nor Froome. when I close the forum and twitter, this "sick" thing as you call it, ends and the life goes on. if you say I'm sick, well I'm as sick as the obsessed haters that now have disappeared after Sky doesn't win anymore

yes, now that they suck and win nothing the "haters" have predictably moved on. now it's just you obsessing over posts from 8 years ago.

the obsessed people were hiding behind the "antidoping" shield, while it was nothing other than pure vitriol and obsession. Team Sky, the Team Sky that was putting cycling "in danger" would ship minutes nowadays, they'd be minutes behind- were are the antidopers who were so vocal back then? they don't care about doping and watts anymore?

the only person obsessed is you. people watched Sky turn crap riders into Tour de France winners and correctly called BS on their performances. they did the same thing to anyone else who was obviously doping during that same era (everyone here knew immediately Santambrogio was doping in 2013 and guess what? he got popped). also, you know there's a 9,000 reply UAE/Pogacar thread in this forum, right? and a 2k reply Vingegaard thread as well as another 2,000 reply Jumbo/Visma thread? it looks like dopers are still being called out right on this very forum.

"Some people were constantly calling out these EPO pioneers back in 1991 but by 1995 when EPO had become pretty much universal and climbing times were off the charts those same people had lost their fire, this is somehow an incomprehensible mystery but vindicates my decision to become a shill for those EPO pioneers back in 1991"

Granted, the analogy is far from perfect. Message boards were on the rise in 1995 compared to 1991, for starters

Must have been slow motors then. @pastronef ’s comment is right IMO. Contrary to prevailing opinions climbing times in the Sky era were pedestrian compared to the Armstrong era and since 2020.

eg Geraint Thomas was timed at 41 minutes on the Alpe when he won in 2018. Pogi & Vingo took 38 minutes in 2022. And based upon PdB in last years Tour Marco’s record on the Alpe looks shaky if Pog and Vingo attacked that now.
yeah, but you know who else did it in 38 minutes in 2022? An elderly Geraint Thomas.

The biggest thing about Sky was all the BS they were floating about the reasons they were winning. I really don't hear teams like UAE or Visma trying to pass along "marginal gains" ***.

Bringing their own pillows, heated overshorts for transfers, hand sanitized stations, portable rice cookers ... etc, etc, etc. LOL

I think Wiggo said it best after he retired.

“People made a lot of that, but it’s not about the pillows, is it? It’s about *** training harder than everyone else. A lot of it is just ***. If you take the pillows away, did we win? Yeah. It’s all a bit of rubbish, isn’t it?”

Of course what he really probably wanted to say is "It's really all about who had the best dope, and Sky had the most money to spend on both doctors and dope. That is how we turned a bunch of donkeys into Tour de France winners."

Visma have tried positive PR especially 2022-2023; with their riders having better sleep and nutrition, tastier meals, better recon on stages, no paint on bikes to decrease weight, not eating fiber to have an empty colon and decrease weight, don’t drink alcohol like other teams to decrease inflammation and grogginess, equipment changes and they’re still playing around with it to get better, and their training regimen. After Vingegaard’s crash and Pogacar’s domination they didn’t care as much, and UAE just don’t give a F.

Mark Padun rides away from the GC group (with no Vingegaard or Pogacar) and wins on La Plagne at the Dauphine (6.1 w/kg): The Clinic explodes

Thymen Arensman rides away from the GC group containing Vingegaard and Pogacar and wins a Tour de France stage on La Plagne (6.3 w/kg): crickets chirp

do you remember when -cycling was in danger- when Mark Padun dared win some Dauphine stages?

Padun won by beating guys all pepped up for the Tour, Arensmann has won by beating GC guys who are not threatened by him on GC. Apples and oranges I think, and I watched Padun's two glorious days.

Arensman went fast as hell up that climb, he did better numbers than Padun. the GC chase was pretty fast too, they shredded everyone outside the top 3.

Well, everyone has been doing way higher numbers in the last 2-3 years or so compared to 2021. At this point, 6.3 w/kg for 45 mins has become a fringe top 10 GC level if everyone is fresh

Arensmen has become a very weird rider. His form doesn't make sense. He can be winning hard mountain stages in the 3rd week, but then the following year drop out of 50-man groups when at his big season goal.
