Shout out to Anacona, he has killed himself on every mountain stage. Great he is back at the level he should be riding at

Tomorrow it will be do or die for Nairo and the team. Hopefully Amador ( who seems totally cooked) and Gorka can play an important role one last time. Gorka finished in the grupetto today, saving energy for tomorrow.

Horrible Dauphine by Moreno, but yet Unzue will give him a spot . Sutterlin on the other hand has shown that he is ready to grab a spot.

Have you seen the picture with Jasha and Valv? They cute :D

But, he most prob will. Movistar can be both hit and miss in the mountains this year in the Tour, I really look forward to who they select... they have a lot of talent that probably isn't ready yet, Fernandez who is kinda kit and miss, Ion out, Anacona, Izagirre and Amador Giro, Castro valuable and always. The big wildcard is Soler and potentially, dare I say, Betancur. Chances are both will ride Vuelta I guess.

This is my guess on a TdF-roster, climber to rouleur:

Quintana
Valverde
Moreno
Fernandez
Castro
Jesus Herrada
Olivera
Bennati
Erviti

Betancur did a decent TT yesterday and today he finished within the top 20, so it looks like he has some ambitions in Suisse. But i agree with you, its better to keep him fresh for the Vuelta.

Do you think they will take Moreno? for what purpose?
And why Fernandez? he has been scheduled for La Vuelta.

They need some strong guys in the mountains apart from Nairo and Bala, so the candidates are Moreno, Fernandez, Soler and Betancur. I think 2 of those 4 will be at the Tour

Yes, I think that too and Unzue is usually pretty protective of younger riders, Soler haven't ridden a GT yet and I doubt he will gamble to Betancur, he is pretty conservative and Moreno can be reasonably (not more than that, lol).
I consider the allrounders Castro, Oliveria and Herrada 100%.
I would like to see Jasha, Erviti and Bennati are too good and experienced. But I have noticed how Bala really seems to like Jasha and he is also very, very strong, he will be a shoe-in in the Vuelta and will likely get the chance next year in TdF if he continues this progress. Guy is a really hard and loyal worker.

Well, they're going to need at least some climbing helpers for the lead duo, and with de la Parte and Anacona just having done the Giro, and it not seeming too likely that Unzué would throw Soler or Carapaz in there for their first GTs at Le Tour, Rubén and Dani probably make the most sense. FWIW I think Jasha still has a shot at being one of the rouleurs, maybe in place of Oliveira; the Tour starts in Germany, he's a good short TT rider and Valverde likes him. Erviti and Bennati are the likely road captains so not sure if I'd want Moreno too personally, it makes for a very old squad (Valverde 37, Bennati 36, Moreno 35, Erviti 33), but unless they think Winner or Andrey are good to go again, not sure how much choice they have.

Now Imagine Betancur lighting it up in Suisse. Do you really gamble that he continues this form or do you just pick him, go all-in and just screw it all? :D I certainly know what I would do.

Good point on Jasha btw.

I think they will bring Betancur to the Tour. Remember the three-pronged attack, guys.

But seriously, they should take him if he goes well in Tour de Suisse.

I would not gamble with Betancur. Too risky ATM.

They could go back and get one of the Giro helpers instead of Moreno.

Not risky at all if he goes well this week, IMO, considering the alternatives.

Movistar is not overly strong at the moment. They may need him.

If he goes well this week, the real risk would be to assume that he will stilk be fit come the Vuelta. Better to capitulate on his period of good form (if it indeed is there).

Movistar pre-selection for the Tour de France: Nairo Quintana, Alejandro Valverde, Andrey Amador, Daniele Bennati, Carlos Betancur, Jonathan Castroviejo, Alex Dowsett, Imanol Erviti, Rubén Fernández, Jesús Herrada, Dani Moreno, Nelson Oliveira, José Joaquín Rojas and Jasha Sütterlin.

How do you even take 5 names off that list? That's a pretty hard choice and no doubt there will be some disappointed riders.

I guess a lot will depend on how the guys at Suisse go : Casto, Dowsett, Betancur & Oliveira.

I guess that Quintana, Valverde, Bennati, Castro, Erviti and Herrada are a given.

So we have to take out 3 names from Amador, Betancur, Dowsett, Fernandez, Moreno, Oliveira, Rojas and Sütterlin.

No Soler, so he will ride the Vuelta. That probably also means he will ride a race such as Burgos. That enchases Bentacur's chances a bit, but chances are he will still ride the Vuelta á España (I hope he won't).

There is no way that they take Dowsett. No TTT and they already have their helpers for the flat.

I am not sure how strong that team would be in the mountains. Maybe Amador can help on descents. But there is so much you can do. Fernandez is young. Betancur unknown. Moreno is underperforming. And is has been like that for a while. So probably Rojas and I am not sure about the other 2.

Amador is much more of a rouleur than a climber anyways outside of the Giro, I would be surprised if he would be selected.

Valverde, Quintana, Fernandez, Castro, Benna and Eviti should be 100%. Jesus Herrada close to 100%. Then you have two spots where Moreno and Oliveira are the favourites, but wouldn't be surprised to see Betancur, Jasha or Rojas.

Amador and Rojas haven't raced since the Giro (as Bennati) possibly with the purpose of doing the double. For example, Anacona immediately returned to Colombia after the Giro taking some time off. A good Fernandez could be 100% sure, but currently he is far from good so i would keep him for the Vuelta.

I think Quintana, Valverde, Erviti and Castroviejo are 100%, Jesus Herrada and Dani Moreno are close to 100%. They need one more roleur (Bennati 80%, Sutterlin 20%), one all rounder (Oliveira, Amador or Rojas, most probably Oliveira) and one more climber (Fernandez 70%, Betancur 30%). So I think it will be Nairo, Bala, Erviti, Castro, Dani, Herrada, Oliveira, Bennati and Fernandez.
