De La Parte turns out to be a very utile transfer, a good performance as lieutenant for Gorka in P-N, followed by a good Pais Vasco.

Yeah, Parte performing surprisingly well, I had a hard time wrapping my head around that signing. Surely will ride a GT, which one, I dno, but probably not the TdF.

For the Ardennes: Bala, Erviti, Sutherland, Dani Moreno, Rojas, Soler, Jesus Herrada and one and only Carlos Betancur! Didn't expect Betancur in the lineup, I guess Unzue and Bala still believe in him. Good lineup but I was expecting Gorka or Castro, or both. I guess they're doing Il Giro with Nairo.

Strong team. Is it normal that you pick one team for all 3 races? But yes, I also thought Gorka would find his way into the squad. I've said it before, but Im intrigued to see Soler here, I think he potentially could have A. Schleck potential for Liege.

I have no clues about the Giro and TdF-teams, I don't even wanna try to predict anything apart from Erviti in TdF.

Isn't he way too diesel for that?

He is a diesel and more of an endurance climber I think, but not to the point he can't break away in a long and selective race such as Liege. Andy wasn't super explosive himself but obviously had incredible talent for hilly one day racing (not saying Soler will be that good). Maybe Im dreaming, but won't surprise me if he he finds himself in the finale closing attacks down for Don Ale.

I find it funny how Betancur gets an Ardennes spot ahead of Carapaz whose last result is 2nd in Artigianato. Oh well. Carapaz will ride Romandie instead.

Betancur is looking leaner on his Instagram. Time to fire up the hype train :D

I think you mean tripe train, Benatti's going to be Carlos' mondongo hustler.

It's official he will ride Romandie? Not very common to do the first WT race after a 1 and a half month of rest. At least I hope he goes for the tridente (Asturias, Madrid and Castilla y Leon).

Nope, just saw it on PCS. No guaranties obviously..

daValtos: Im almost certain he will ride the Giro. And I guess we can throw Betancur on that Giro squad after this performance.

I actually think Valverde himself looked very strong in Amstel and superior in Fleché Wallone, but his team could be a problem for Liege.

They haven't been at their 100% best. He could end up as very isolated in Liege.

There are some rumours that Bernal would join Movistar in August, like Carapaz last year.

I'm not sure he if could (join like Carapaz). Bernal has been a pro since the beginning of last year, I'm almost sure that he can't be a trainee.

They will probably pay Savio an amount as compensation for breach of contract, like Bahrein did with Izagirre ;)

More like Rohan Dennis to BMC. There is an August 1st-15th window for such transfers.

The team looked fine, controlled a big part of the race and in the finale they let other teams do the job. Maybe Erviti is a bit below his standard, but Betancur surprised, Sutherland and Herrada did their job at the front (centered on Valverde), Rojas in super condition, even Moreno completed his job at the end. I didn't have high hopes of Soler as he discovers these races for the first time.

Don't forget they also have lost two important riders in Visconti and I.Izagirre.

Betancur surprised today, didn't expect that from him. He could be very useful in Liege. And Dani Moreno, well that was the first time in a while that I saw Dani is useful and played his part. He usually rides his own race, until he drops out of contention. Rojas is good too. They will be fine for Liege. Erviti, Sutherland and Soler to do the tempo, Herrada to cover breakaways. Then on La Redoute and RAF, Betancur takes over, watching for dangerous moves, and in the finale Dani to help as much as he can. Critical point might be right after Roche aux Faucons, where it's false flat, dangerous moves always happen there. Bala, Dani and Bananito must be alert there.

I hyped Soler ahead of Liege, now he has been used has a workhorse early on.. I hope they let Erviti and Sutherland do the dirty job early on and try to save Soler, but he probably isn't in Catalunya shape at all.

Somehow Betancur seems to be more useful when he's riding with Valverde, he seems to be motivated when he's riding as a domestique for Valverde.

Movistar's Ardennes team is lacking a bit to me but it'll matter more in LBL than it did today.

Yeah, maybe it has something to do with him respecting Valverde a bunch, they are also very much the same kind of riders (imagine Betancur with Valverde's seriousness). Or just a coincidence, I dno. He shouldn't have any problem working for Quintana as well if Movistar chooses to go that route, I guess it will depend on how he goes en L-B-L and even then, he had a pretty poor Giro last year.
