Man I am seriously worried about this team. So many free riders on the market and Saxo is dropping its cheaper riders but doesn't seem to be stocking up. Now they are letting two DS's go as well, according to velonation.com. It seems like they are desperate to cut any excess spending. If they continue this way they will be stretched thin next year

This year they had one of the strongest teams for GTs and Contador just missed that little bit to be competitive.

Indeed right now it would be their best chance to add a few more good riders.

The best riders stayed, they just need 6 or 7 more domestiques, wait till December and signed the best left on a base salary. Or extend with guys on the team. No big deal.
Not to mention that they are among the teams who are already sure to be WT next season.

Could still use a secondary sponsor though.

I guess all the top riders still had contracts though so there wasn't really a question of them staying or leaving... but how many contract extensions have there been? It seems like Karsten Kroon is the only one right now, and I recall you saying Boaro is all but a done deal?

Kroon, Kump and Juul Jensen have extended their contracts. Valgren has been signed. Lund, Cantwell, Noval, Pires, Christensen and Aaen are leaving.

Boaro already has a contract for 2014 and 2015 with Saxo.

The uncertain ones are: Nicki, Paulinho, Zaugg, Duggan, Tosatto and Miyazawa.

All according to feltet.dk

Also it is very likely Jesper Hansen will ride for Saxo in 2014. It has not yet been confirmed though.

Thx, Nets - should be interesting to see who will renew out of the ones whose fate is yet unknown

It doesn't make sense, Saxo Bank putting more money just to have Riis selling one month later.

But if Tinkoff gets the team than Alberto chances at tour goes bye bye. I don't think he will be able to give 100% with the idiot at helm.

So both Tinkov and Google have announced press conference in London on monday. So it does seem as if Tinkov is taking over

At the same time, though, Danish media reports that Google is gonna sponsor the team.

So is it both a sale to Tinkov and a new sponsor?

Doubt it is Google taking over. Everyone knows them, they have absolutely no gains in cycling or any other sport for that matter ( wchich is why the dont bother sponsoring any sports ). Would be surprising to say the least.

Every one knows Red Bull. Why do they spend unreal amount of Money on F1? Not all sponsorships are about awareness, but also about creating some special platforms for big key accounts etc.

But yes it would be surprising indeed.

Yes, that is very true. However Red Bull sponsors extreme events - something associated with their brand of drinks.

Google - there is absolutely no connection to cycling whatsoever. Plus the fact Google does not sponsor any sport events.

We'll see, if it comes true, it is a great news in my opinion for cycling, but its rather unlikely.

But that might be something that they decided they wanted to change.

But anyways, what I also find a bit weird is that if they are indeed considering to sponsor sport, why on earth choose a dodgy team with Tikov as owner and Riis as DS. Why not the Alonso-project?
