Since we are talking to Riis, its interesting that he and his wife states that he was very close to a total break-down in the spring after Contador was banned and UCI wanted to strip the team of its WT license. He didnt really feel like getting up in the morning and had no energy to lead the team (might further explain the bad results of the team this year?)

well, you can hardly blame the man, the team is his life work and his passion, all the time, sweat, blood and tears he invested in so many years, just to see it trying being demolished by a corrupt, selfish, narcissistic arrogant pri ck like Patty boy, and witness half the team leave like rats, and on top deal with the AC mess, I think would bring anybody down.

But I know Riis, he is a fighter and there are light at the end of the tunnel, im sure he will come back up on top, and kick some azz in the next few years.

Without doubt, he stated some time ago that he didn't personally direct the races because his bad mood caused by UCI wanting to remove the license could affect the riders.
