Was it maybe Stetina not Talansky that amazed you in Lombardia;)

Yikes, losing Offredo would be a blow 2 days after the deadline!

lol, El P strongly reccomended I take Offredo, but after considering he is already 25 years old, and looking closely at the manner in which he achieved his results, I didnt take him.

Offredo's bound to get his, ticket to ride, punched.
That means a lot of folk will start the season at -295.
Glad he just missed out on my final selection.

This thread has been like a nuclear explosion this past 48hrs.
Had to go through it in several sittings.

We'll see. Rasmussen was believed to be a goner, and then it turned out the UCI screwed up and he was free to ride. Maybe waiving missed tests is a new thing.

Oh well. At least it's not as bad as Riccò last year. :\

i'm just curious: Offredo missed 3 tests in 18 month (like inrng says and the article i posted earlier) or the latest article on CN is correct saying 3 tests in 2011, and finally (as i'm not much into the Clinic stuff) does it make any difference in the case of possible suspension :D

Hello ...
CATTANEO Mattia 108

I have him too. Apparently he will not actually have a contract until he goes to Lampre as a stagiare in August. Sorry.

On the theory that later entries might include more of the "most picked" riders because of discussions on this thread, I plotted what I am calling Skibby's "rider commonality scores" (the points for each team based on the number of teams each of its riders was picked) against the order in which team entries were submitted. The latter comes from Hugo's list of submitted teams on page 1. The results:

JNQCs.jpg

So there is no obvious relationship. A couple of caveats on the data: (1) the order of entry is just rank order, so it does not take into account the actual amount of time that passed between entries. Presumably something like half of the entries occurred in the last couple of days before the deadline. (2) the order of entries does not take into account that some people edited their teams after the date of initial entry.

I'd like to see a graph showing how many teams had certain riders (say, Rafael Valls) before he was posted on here, and how many had him after that. ;)

yep, i klnew when I picked him (partly why i'm nervous about his chances to score well). I wanted some riders to follow in the u23 ranks. he can still do quite well points scoring wise, if he dominates in u23 and then emulates Battglin and Selig when he joins Lampre.

For the TT in the Olympics, I feel pretty good with the riders I have:

Gustav Larsson
Luis Leon Sanchez
Richie Porte
Michael Rogers
Dave Zabriskie
Frantisek Rabon
Adriano Malori

The last two might be that much of a factor, but every point counts.

I know I won't win with this team, but I only chose riders I like, except for Stefan Schumacher and Ran Margaliot (I don't have any idea who this guy is, but he costs 0 pts).

The two Spidertechs will surprise many.

The UCI waited till after our deadline ended on purpose!

I don't think having Offredo is my winning move, but I did invest in him because I believe 2012 will be a big year for him and he surely would have helped.

I was considering DZ but since USA has just one TT spot in Olympics it was too risky to take him and since I already had MiniPhinney and Talansky on my team there is a possibility that one of them may end up with the spot so my have some chance scoring some points there too.

Pretty much, my team (other than some obvious picks) was structured around TT and guys with fast finish but I may be missing on some GC contenders

Those with solid TT:

SANCHEZ GIL Luis Leon
PHINNEY Taylor
PORTE Richie
TALANSKY Andrew
LARSSON Gustav Erik
RABON Frantisek

Those with fast finish:

GALIMZYANOV Denis
BOONEN Tom
HAUSSLER Heinrich
SANCHEZ GIL Luis Leon
PHINNEY Taylor
GUARDINI Andrea
HOOGERLAND Johnny ??????
POZZATO Filippo
RENSHAW Mark
SOHRABI Mahdi
KLUGE Roger
NOVIKOV Nikita
CHICCHI Francesco
DAVIS Allan
CANTWELL Jonathan

The bigger reason I chose DZ was because he's my favorite rider. So he had priority over everybody else.

For the road race, my hopefuls will be:

Andre Greipel
Tom Boonen
Manuel Belletti
Daniel Oss
Allan Davis
Matti Breschel

I noticed that I'm somewhat lacking sprinting power in my team. Greipel's the only prolific guy. Boonen hasn't really showed much for the past couple of years except in G-W.
