Noticed that some people chose IVANOV and SASTRE even though they'd retired before the deadline. I remember that last year there were some opportunities to change teams as a result of circumstances. Couldn't remember if that was before/after the deadline though. Anyway, is there a chance these guys might be able to fix their teams? Can't imagine why they'd choose these guys in the first place!

I have him too. really nervous.

He says, he sent his whereabouts a few hours late in the first 2 instances and the team was at fault for his 3rd missed test as they had added a l race at the last minute. http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/offredo-informed-of-missed-doping-controls

Hopefully the UCI will find just reason in that!

UCI spokesperson Carpani claims he was informed that they have a solid case against Offredo. They don't expect problems like they had with A. Rasmussen.

That has to be done before the deadline. There are some special cases like for instance if you've chosen the same rider twice, you're allowed to substitute him.

A suspension for Offredo could be good for those who have Steve Chainel. Me, for example. :D

Anyone else now convinced Popchu is a UCI offical who ensured the delaying of this coming out until after the CQ deadline to best take advantage of his/her insider knowledge?

hush! if i were you, i'd lie low 'cause right after accusing and obviously DSQing Popchu for being 'a UCI offical who ensured the delaying of this coming out until after the CQ deadline to best take advantage of his/her insider knowledge' we gonna investigate the case of yours (and others 75% of entrants who don't have Offredo) for being in criminal conspiracy with him, so you better watch out :p

i decided that vanmarcke will rule the offredo races, and he was even cheaper,
so i'm not in suspicion.

but what i wanted to say, not one player has thomas dekker?
if this is true i should take a self punishing avatar for not having the.. äh.. balls?
yes, he was expensive. but it would have made an extreme exciting season to have him as unique pick..

i want to know why tank has froome.
provocation?
he will go stronger and stronger and you know that for years?
just had a crazy moment? please explain :D

Offredo isnt out yet.

It reminds me of Cunego who in about June seemed guaranteed to be out, people were even begining to take away his points when counting their scores.

Yet when I checked at the end, Cunego and all of his 1175 points were still there.

Being involved in a slow moving Italian investigation is a little different to missing 3 tests. He's gone.

Here's my original post regarding the basis of picking my team.

I seem to have a team. I'm not going to win this, but it'll give me some guys to cheer for. I chose quite a few riders that I particularly like, but I'm certainly not picking all my favourites. I'm aiming for at least mid-table respectability.

Having joined the forum only a few months ago, I hadn't heard of the CQ game until recently and I didn't have the time to apply the full power of my geekiness to the selection procedure this time round. I know Froome is a very risky pick, but for this year that's partly the point. I haven't really got a clue on how he will go this year, but since he picked up a lot of points in a short time (OK there were pretty easy pickings in the Vuelta and the Tour de Giant Panda) I thought he might be worth a gamble.

The stats say that my initial prediction of mid-table looks very reasonable, although I did pick Offredo :(

Froome is a reasonable pick considering his lack of racing last year, OK he has a lot of Vuelta points to defend and also Beijing but not too much else other than some minor placings.

He was very close to making my team but I thought I would put the kiss of death on him if I picked the guy.

He was. With Froome I was so uncertain that I flipped a coin, so I gambled him away ;)

Lost a lot of favourite riders in the process (Roy, Madrazo, Txurruka, Gesink..),
plus 'half of Sky' because of the Track Olympics, so I have to get used to my team.

Regretting a bit that I didn't manage to include more young riders (Demare, Waeytens).
At least I have no Shack rider.

Most excited about Shpilevski - he's in only one other team and was expensive cause of his typical end of season winning streak, i'm curious what he's capable of. And certainly about Pinot as he is my most expensive rider.

Geraint was left out for that reason :(

I have Deignan, but I had to apply for a TUE on the basis that he's Celtic

I had him on my original shortlist, but then he got about 50 points in Henain and I only got back to choosing a team shortly before the deadline, so I dropped him (perhaps unfortunately).

I was thinking about Pinot, but picked Taaramae in the end (not sure why, they're both riders I like).

That depends if he will stay at the level he showed in the Vuelta or if he is more like a Hesjedal who couldn't really live up to the form he showed in the 2010 Tour.

I know Offredo missed 3 tests but still, it's a bit harsh to give him a ban.

No, you have to have a rule like that and it's probably a bit too lenient as it is since it's already exploited to get around getting caught but that's not something I can get into on this subforum.
