Galims is 3x the average, but Offredo is only 1.3x the average... but the problem is that you not only loose his value, but you loose also the opportunity to gain points... staying on Offredo, if you choose him, you hope at least that he can double his points, so you loose the opportunity to have 600 points... and that's quite a lot...

That is the risk with taking expensive riders, and is part of the game/sport.

Update 15: Mellow Velo finally shows some weakness

With the cobbled classics out of the way it was expected that some changes would occour in the top 10, and even though only one of the Ardennes classics have been raced, a lot has happened already.

Two new teams enter the top ten: Kvinto and theyoungest who both have had great weeks and are also to be found among this weeks high scorers. However, the biggest scorer this week is TeoSheva who's now overtaken the second place, thanks to number 1 and 2 in Amstel Gold Race, Gasparatto and Vanendert.
This week we've also seen one of the pre-game favorites make a little bit of noise: The Hitch finds himself on both the high jumpers and high scorers list this week.

In the other end of the spectrum we find our leader, Mellow Velo, who after many good weeks now looks like he's starting to struggle with only 207 points this week. He's still leading by more than 200 points but with both Fleche Wallone and Liege-Bastogne-Liege coming up this week, a lot can happen. Furthermore has Mellow Velo suffered an additional setback as his second most expensive pick, Galimzyanov, has been tested positive for use of EPO. Jancouver, jraama and vladimir are also affected by this.
Another team who probably just wants to forget this week is Popchu. With only 52 points this week does he fall back 8 places and now finds himself in 12th position.

Top 10

1. (1) Mellow Velo - 6558

Offredo was a risky pick since there were already a lot of rumors... Dennis it's much worst...

There were rumours regarding Offredo? I didn't hear anything untill maybe one day after the deadline. But on the other hand, I don't really follow "doping" rumours or whatever it should be called.

On a different note: did anyone realise that we've already had more replies in this thread than in thread for the whole last season? At least I think so. I don't really know if any replies were deleted when they moved the thread to the new subforum, but I think they managed to restore them all.

+1

You could argue a lot of guys people picked are "risky", some will pay off, others won't. Three people have Ballan, who still has Mantova hanging over his head, but if he is allowed to continue racing he could end up being a very good pick. Or he might lose all his results....

First week won by me :D

I will try to gain one more position in the coming week ;)

You are welcome to it. I never thought I'd see out most of Spring.;)
The one really negative aspect of this game, for me, is that it leads to a compulsion to watch specific riders, rather than any given race as a whole.
The exact reason I've always tried to avoid having favourite teams or riders; objectivity goes out of the window.

When you are in the lead and being shot at from behind, the pressure of keeping score is hard to ignore.

I'd rather go back to being slightly anonymous and pressure free, other than for personal, team goals.:)

Gaining the 320 points you need is certainly on the cards, now my luck has run dry.;)

An enormous number of posts got dumped into the thread on the game that I had started (similar idea, but WT points system on WT races only)

Whoa, I actually moved up 3 places despite my perception of a 'bad' week. I guess everything seemed bad after Boonen-fest. Here's what I got going on right now:

Trentino
Phinney (think he can hold the jersey until the en - oh wait, I just looked at the profiles, nevermind)
Kreuziger (that's more like it)
Kashechkin (didn't finish last today!)
Di Luca (maybe at last something goes right for Il Killer?)
Felline
Brandle

Fleche
Van Garderen
Sicard
Moser
Henao
Costa
Kelderman

LBL
Same as above, minus Keldreman, plus Kreuziger and Breschel

I agree with you... anyway would be nice for me to lead the game for just one week, you did great until now to lead so many weeks!

But I know that I've just this week to overtaken you (if Vanendert helps me), than, at the Giro I will go back again because I don't have any single man for the GC
