Still a bummer that Dennis and Matthews didn't go. Neither of them could have done anything about Slagter though.

BTW have the guys at CQ become cynical about cycling? All the results are listed as provisional now.

They always are listed as that. If you scroll down home page to the bottom you see a list of Recently updated races. Those races are now updated from provisional status. Was always like that past few years.

Anyway, Slagter almost in profit. Teams having him will be very happy. Thomas should have been no brainer before the season. He could well do 800 / 1000 season if the cobbles go well for him, as well as stage week races such as Eneco, Qatar.

Well, some happy surprises on the last stage of the TDU as the small time differences and bonuses move Thomas up to 3rd, Kelderman up to 6th, and Rojas up to 14th. With Bobridge's points that probably gives me something around 400 from Australia.

Nice to see Warren Barguil picking up 20 points in his first race as a full pro, too. Nothing from San Luis, though.

Up next:

Sicard and Barguil in Etoile de Besseges

Appollonio, Guardini, Trentin, Van Kiersbulck and Thomas in Qatar

Pinot, Hushovd, Schleck, Dekker, Sicard, Lofkvist and Rebellin in Tour Med

Taking bets on who drops out of that one first, Schleck or Hushovd.

Slagter and Thomas with a great TDU. 648 points sounds like a good start into the season. Hope it's not only downhill from here.

Man, I regret not having picked Elissonde now. Had him last year but decided against him this year, which I think will come back and hunt me now.

By my calculations I should have something like 628 points this week. I guess that should be considered fairly good for not having Slagter.

Among the highlights are Ben Hermans with 118 points which makes for a good start at cost 288. Rafael Valls has pretty much made up his cost already with 46 points at a cost of 47. Kenny Ellisode is almost halfway there with 40 out of 91. And halfway there is almost also Anthony Roux with 36 points at cost 80.

I reckon i picked up 438 from the TDU (thanks mainly to Thomas and Izagirre). Roux got a few points today and it looks like Serry might pickup a point or four in San Luis.

Same here. At least, Barguil showed promising signs of form in his first pro race and Roux seems to be back at his 2011 level but I certainly won't be in the 600-700 points range for the week like some others. Besseges should be better hopefully.

We are still in the early kilometres. A few guys looking to form the early break, long way to go ;)

(I would say that as I will be firmly mid-field after the next update :D)

Yeah, I think I may be the biggest scorer this week (not sure though), although I didn't score anything at San Luis or Marseille, but I have 744 points in TDU. Nevertheless, I have neither Gilbert nor Cancellara, so if I'm even still somewhere remotely near the top by the time the classics come, I'll be caught and dropped quite simply during the classics. :p

if he finishes he will earn you 110 points

by my quick calculations I think I have scored 795 points this week. would have been a nice 800 if it not for Schleck DNF. Some good bonus points with Barguil and De Clercq scoring nicely today.

Matthews could have won the stage into Stirling- that would have stopped Slagter a bit. It still doesn't mean i think Matthews could have won the overall but he could have been in the top 5- with time bonuses assisting/ if he finished in the same group as Slagter off Corkscrew.

I thought I might be yoyo-ing off the back of the peloton but I think I got about 430 or so points so I might just be slipping through the group but still in contact

Thomas gives me my first good points. But it's not enough to make me competitive this early.

Update 3: DnthasldHoff and adamski101 destroy the competition!

So. Finally the game really got under way this week, as a total of 4334 points were handed out. Most of those of course were won in Australia. A lot of teams were probably happy mid week when it looked as though Geraint Thomas would win the general classification, but instead young Tom Jelte Slagter ran away with the overall, which made 9 teams very happy.

Among those were DnthasldHoff who earned 815 points and is this week's top scorer. Not only did he have Slagter and Thomas in his team, he also earned points from Kelderman, Rojas and Elissonde among others. adamski101 was a close second, scoring 798 points from Slagter, Thomas, Kelderman and De Clercq among others.

This week's top scorers:

1. DnthasldHoff - 815
2. adamski101 - 798
3. Maaaaaaaarten - 744
4. AAC1983 - 693
5. HelgeBlendet - 671

Because of the many points he scored, it's not very surprising that DnthasldHoff also is this week's high jumper. With an incredible 113 places leap up the ranks, I even think he has set a new record for the highest jump ever. HelgeBlendet was close, though, taking a massive 104 places jump.

This week's high jumpers:

1. DnthasldHoff +113
2. HelgeBlendet +104
3. nobilis +75
4. Kjellus +67
5. Falze +65

As adamski101 was already very well positioned sitting in 13th place before this week, his massive points harvest puts him in the leader's jersey as he overtakes current leader Akubra who's pushed down to a 10th place.
DnthasldHoff hadn't scored a single point before this week, but his amazing performance puts him directly up to 4th place.
AAC1983 continues his steady performances and moves up 1 place, now occupying the 2nd place. Former winner ingsve is also an early force to be reckoned with as he moves up 4 places to a 5th. Defending champion skidmark is also doing well, sitting in 11th place.

Top 10

1. (13) adamski101 - 960
2. (3) AAC1983 - 923
3. (50 Maaaaaaaarten - 838
4. (117) DnthasldHoff - 815
5. (9) ingsve - 798
6. (42) theyoungest - 756
7. (111) HelgeBlendet - 680
8. (2) King Of The Worlds - 671
9. (55) Skibby the bush kangaroo - 661
10. (1) Akubra - 658

There seems to be something wrong, but you should be able to "reload" the page when it comes up with an error.

Oh great, missed some "leaders points" by Slagter and Thomas. Top 5 of the week and sitting in 7th position feels great.

Bessèges
Bole
Coquard
Sicard
Bardet

2 "sprinters", 2 for the "GC" doesn't sound too bad, but I fear I won't be among the top-scorers...
