Very :(

@Skidmark: Gerrans still had a great year last year, podiumed in the Ardennes, won stages at TDU, Vasco and Catalunya i think. Then he wore the yellow jersey at the TDF/ won two stages. Sure it wasn't good CQ wise, but his yellow jersey is just as good as his MSR. Also he crashed in the Vuelta, which stopped him from having a good total of points from the end of the year.

Not a very good start so far. A lot of riders I purposely left out (argh Gerrans) are doing all too well. And what is this renaissance of form in Cadel? If he goes and podiums a GT I will have misjudged him completely.

Great start of the year for me! Gerrans won TDU and Quintana won in San Luis. Some of my riders were pretty dispaointing though(Danny Van Poppel, Phinney) but I'm pretty happy with this start.

Now Gerrans got to do the double in Herald Sun Tour and Uran,Poels or Pozzato to get some results in Dubai. I actually wonder what kind of stages this 2 tours will have.
Is Dubai Tour only for sprinters or we will see a hill somewhere?

Do you value holding the yellow jersey for a few days as highly as winning a monument?

I don't know. Personally I think I would ( :p ) and the way that Gerrans claimed the yellow jersey in the 100th TDF was quite impressive. He may have also hungered for a race like LBL more than MSR (just my impression). I'm sure he would like to be identified as wearing/ winning both though.

TDU should be downgraded to 2.1. This is not a world tour race when you dont have world class riders participating. Looking at CQ website for top 20 riders from 2013 only 2 were participating and out of the TOP100 maybe 10 so the field was very weak and other than few Australian riders no world class rider really give a crap about this race.

San Luis is harder race with better field and fraction of the points will be awarded and no KOM, POINTS classification either. 379 points for one rider from this race if pure bull-crap.

Sorry my OZ friends, I know you love your riders and your race but this is just my OPINION.

Edit: Just to add: we all know they made it a WT race just to make it mandatory for all the WT teams to participate otherwise no WT team other than OGE would show up for this early race so far away.

Don't worry Jancouver, I doubt your riders not performing at Tour Down Under is going to sink you for the entire game. ;)

On the topic of you don't have world class riders participating though, IMO I would definitely consider Gerrans, Porte, Evans, Ulissi, hell even Gesink and Thomas, as world class riders (or at the very least close to/just below world class).

And when you compare that field fighting for GC at TDU to the current field fighting for GC at San Luis, TDU comes out on top with a higher class of guys. Only world class guys fighting for GC at San Luis is Quintana, and maybe Atapuma, Arrendondo, and Pozzovivo.

Actually 14 of the cyclists who finished the TDU in 2013 made the top-100 of that year, which I'd argue is not too bad.

Additionally there were also the following riders who participated. Cyclists that had shown enough in the previous year(s) to be considered part of a 'strong field':

*Thomas De Gendt: 3rd Giro d'Italia 2012
*Maxim Iglinskiy: won LBL 2012 (might be the same case as Zaugg though)

And cyclists that did not make the top-100 but had a good year regardless:

*Giovanni Visconti: won 2 stages in the Giro later that year

Not the best field, but for an early season opener it was pretty strong in my opinion. Of course, it is nothing compared to a race like Paris-Nice.

Paris-Nice in 2013: 27 cyclists out of the 2013 Top-100 finished it.

I agree with Jancouver, there are way too many points available at the TDU. 369 points?? Not cool.

By the way, I got 42 points from the San Luis GC and 10 from TDU GC and I have, I think, a total of 2 riders racing in the next 5 races, so I am kinda ****ed off :D

My killer take from the TDU:

Dennis: 5
Van Poppel: 5
Goss: 5
Ewan: 5

Total - 20. I think that's actually maybe the worst score from any WT event (stage race or one-day) that I've ever had in this game.

On the positive note, Phil Gaimon scored 124 in San Luis so I'm pretty happy with this pick. He was cheap at 28 points so even if he doesnt score another point this year I would be OK with his 340% profit.

BTW I wasnt complaining about the TDU just because I dont have Gerrans and if you look at one of my posts from BEFORE the race even started, I was already voicing my displeasure with this race being WT.

TDU is a joke in terms of the points available versus the number of top riders in good form.

But we all knew that going in and that there were soft points available for Aussie riders.

It's sad because it looks like Porte and Quintana will again have great seasons and i had them for two years:(

I failed in San Luis but at least i had Gerrans for the TDU.

A lot of peple here are jumping to conclusions on how the season will develop based on a couple of Mickey Mouse races...
I am probably almost rock bottom after last week, in addition Appolonio got injured, but I still have full confidence that my riders will do well once the real racing starts in a months time:D

Well, CQ download isn't there yet, so no update quite yet. I'm gonna take a wild stab in the dark and say that Wizard of Oz is gonna be on top again, but with so many riders in play (albeit many that didn't score points) there should be some interesting subplots.
