Update #18: Rare Picks Come Good

(insgve was due to do the next few updates but seems he hasnt seen my reminders)

None of the top 5 scoring riders this week where selected more than 6 times, and of the top 20 only Swift (23 picks, 43 points) and Di Gregorio (23 picks, 30 points) were in double figures for times picked. Demare defends all but 25 of his points from 4 Days of Dunkirk scoring 245, and with his better showing in the Spring this year looks set for a profitable year for Nicosix and Somar13. These two teams head the weekly scores, Somar13 with 42 points from unique choice Bole, not enough to compete with Nicosix's haul from several riders Evansisthebest matches two young riders Herklotz (66 points, unique) and Senchal (73 points, 3 picks) and a few others for 3rd. The two teams with Kittel make up 4th and 5th on the weekly scoring.

This Week's Top Scorers

1. Nicosix 349
2. Somar13 303
3. EvansIsTheBest 216
4. coinneach 201
5. bicing 196

4 of the same names appear in the jumpers list, with martinaagard, one of only 6 teams with Michael Valgren Anderson who scored 115 points from his fine showing in 4 Days of Dunkirk, amking up the top 5.

This Week's High Jumpers

1. Nicosix (+22)
2. bicing (+15)
3. coinneach (+13)
3. Somar13 (+13)
5. martinaagard (+12)

Evansisthebest's absence from the high jumpers list is understandable considering his proximity to the top of the table, he does move up 2 spots into 5th though with lenissart jumping 3 places to take over from Ferminal in 10th place.

Top 10 Overall

Nice week from my team with some pretty rare riders performing well. However with no relevant GC guys in either California or the Giro, my team will probably start to fall down the ranking soon. I need to limit my losses in May/June and be less than 1000 points behind the leader by the start of the TDF to still have a shot at winning the title. Then it's up to Contador with the Tour + the Vuelta and Degenkolb with his usual late season magic to close down the gap.

After several weeks of dropping significantly in the rankings, I suppose a slight rebound is good news. If I want to dream of some kind of comeback, I suppose I can take heart in the fact that, given recent developments in the Giro, a top ten that includes Uran, Basso, Kiserlovski, Aru, Monfort, Hesjedal, and Cataldo is not entirely far-fetched.

Not a bad week so far: Wiggins, Phinney, Kiserlovski and Chaves doing some good things. But overall, my team isn't good enough to compete with the best. No Kwiatkowski or Contador or Quintana (or Gilbert) was a big mistake.

Well, no update yet this week, and I have very spotty internet access, so I probably won't see it until the weekend, but I'm interested to see how it goes this week. I had a totally anonymous Giro (and a wasted opportunity with LL Sanchez not hanging in for any overall at Castilla y Lyon), but my Cali was great - three stage wins (Dennis, Phinney, Chaves), 2nd, 3rd, 7th, 15th overall (Dennis, Craddock, Chaves, Olivier), several 2nd places and third places on stages (from the above plus van Poppel)... should be a good week. Unfortunately all my Giro eggs are in the basket of Aru and Hesjedal now that others on my team seem to be in poor form (Anacona, Battaglin) or crashed out (Brajkovic) or working for others (Boasson Hagen). We shall see how it goes in the long term.

I don't really care as I'm completely out of this game and I don't want to sound too negative, but it is sad that year after year the founder of this game always disappear after the spring classics. No update last week, no update this week. Do we have to wait until the next month when someone else takes over or until November when Hugo returns to claim his game again?

Maybe his life outside of the forum takes some time too? Sure it's perhaps not the best planning of who should do which updates, if his vacation(?) was known in advance, or it would have been preferable if some then switched, but it really isn't that big of a problem (the updates from after Romandie and until the Giro is over), and it's completely understandable imho.

I'm just grateful several dudes (and girls?) stepped up to secure the game after Hugo didn't have time to do all of it on his own.

if you were in the game maybe you would know that since the beginning of the year was clear that Hugo could not have the time to do the updateds and so we decided to dedicate one month to some of us in doing the game... this one is not the month of Hugo.

He is referring to skidmark, I think, but it's not exactly clear.

Is there a way to see the teams or stats regarding the most picked riders etc.?

If you can handle a spreadsheet yes, the spreadsheet shows their popularity and you could edit their 2014 scores to zero points,

also of you are desperate to see how the week has gone and can handle a spreadsheet it is not that difficult to do it yourself, no spoilers though:)

Thats what I meant. While I do appreciate his work to get this game going, like it or not, year after year, he is not around after Classics so I'm not sure why he volunteered to run the updates this month or at all.

That is just a fact and not some attempt to start some kind of dispute. Over the years I have wasted enough of my time to make this game better so I I dont want to sound like some ungrateful a-hole.

I'm afraid its not a fact. As teo pointed out Hugo is not doing the updates this month. Hugo did the updates he was due to do, bar the first one, which he warned me in good time he couldnt do. there was an update last week that I did, just late. ingsve was in a position to do the update on Monday but the download from CQ was not available til Tuesday by which time he had been called away. ingsve will hopefully be doing the latest update shortly.

despite your efforts to try not to be negative your posts are coming across as very negative, which is a shame, as I know you have invested lots of time in the game.

If you open the spreadsheet link here, you can see all the teams. click on the team name in the ranking and it takes you to the team. there are various tabs in the spreadsheet 'Popularity' etc which give you access to the stats, that Netserk pointed out also appears in the thread. have a play around with them to see what you can find out. you can also see how popular a rider is on any team in column on the right.

After your strong debut(?) showing in the Giro game, hope to see you in this game and the youth game next year.

Who else than Mr. mc_mountain himself would take a stab at me. Have you been drinking again? :p

BTW I didn't know it wasn't Hugo's turn nor I noticed the last week's update. I thought Hugo was the one assigned for May, or wasn't he? I'm not around every day so perhaps thats why I'm out of the picture ...

perhaps you would like to include an apology to hugo then?

Update #19: Wiggins pays off

First of all I want to point out that the updates during my weeks in charge here might be a bit unreliable in time. When I agreed to help out with the updates back in November it was impossible to know how other things might interfere with the updates. Last week I was away on business until friday which is why mc_mountain steppen in to do the update. This week I have had some problem with the spreadsheet since I don't have Office and Libreoffice for some reason doesn't like the spreadsheet when you try to do the updates.

As for this weeks results it seems that Wiggins and the Tour of California results are the main factor for changes.

This Week's Top Scorers

1. Hilltopfinisher 685
2. Armchair cyclist 665
3. GP Blanco 661
4. Bellsax 649
5. Manafana 631

This Week's High Jumpers

1. Armchair Cyclist (+30)
1. GP Blanco (+30)
3. hilltopfinisher (+25)
3. Bellsax (+25)
5. Jakob747 (+23)

Both the top scorers and top movers are mostly the same teams and the common denominator is Bradley Wiggins who is starting to pay off a little for those who still believed in the guy. Rohan Dennis is also among the top scorers of the week and a combo a Wiggins and Dennis was good this week and some even added Evans or Craddock to the mix.

Top 10 Overall

1, (-) freshman 6255
2, (-) Pentacycle 6180
3, (+3) knallertjeblaf 5822
4, (-) rywann 5801
5, (-2) Geraint Too Fast 5777
6, (+2) Ruvu75 5694
7, (-2) EvansIsTheBest 5687
8, (+3) Ferminal 5668
9, (-2) Martin 5655
10, (-) lenissart 5649

In the top 10 knallertjeblaf moves up to the top 3 by being one of only two teams in the top 10 to have Evans. Ferminal is the other and having Evans along with Dennis moves the team into the top 10 this week.

Read the first couple of pages in the thread, I'm certain it has been covered ;)

edit: Ok I'm nice and found it for you, but really you should make a (little) effort to find it yourself before you ask others for help. Imho.

Thank you Nets.

I looked before I asked, I am not lazy. I stopped a few pages before that.

I also thought the spreadsheet only had the CQ riders values so there was no point downloading it.
