Update #5: The Wizard's spell is still in full effect

The wizard of oz again, but perhaps for the last time, takes full advantage of his all Australian team. Gaining points for riders even less common in the game than Gerrans, ensures he pads his lead even further. Rare gems such as Simon Clarke (139 points this week, on 10 teams), Wurf (90 pts, unique), and Haas (82 pts, 4 teams), making the difference. Gerrans' (43) start to the season perhaps hampered by the cancellation of the queen stage of the Herald Sun Tour, but he sits at 1 point in profit before he even sets foot in Europe.

Also waiting for his first chance to score points in an European race, is Taylor Phinney (153 pts, 56 teams), winning the inaugural Tour of Dubai, with fine display in the ITT and with enough hints in the following stages to suggest he can score points in more than just the races against the clock, will he be able to defend/improve upon the points haul of last spring (3rd GC in Qatar, 9th in MSR)? Another popular choice Coppel (90 pts, 56 teams), took full advantage of a race that could have been designed for him, but does being eclipsed by young Ludvigsson (130 pts, 2 teams) suggest he will find points harder to come as the season progresses?

As well as Wurf there were other unique riders scoring well this week Cummings (90 points - Manafana), Haig - (71 points - Geraint Too Fast), as well as some other rarer picks as already mentioned Ludviggson and Haas, there are also Kittel (105 pts, 2 teams), Degenkolb (91 pts, 6 teams), Modolo (80 pts, 5 teams). Young riders too are well represented in the top points scorers of the week, Meintjes (75 pts, 2 teams), Hansen (71 pts, 13 teams) and Haig (71 pts, unique).

Shalgo puts together points from Phinney, S Clarke, Coppel and Taarame for second behind the wizard, *Falze* (Phinney, Coppel and Hansen), just some guy (Phinney, Clarke x2 and Gerrans) and WonderLance (Phinney, Ludviggson and Hansen) make up the top 5 scorers this week

This Week's Top Scorers

1. wizard_of_oz 520
2. shalgo 450
3. *Falze* 393
4. just some guy 392
5. WonderLance 381

This Week's High Movers

1. shalgo (+70)
2. Manafana (+65)
3. sublimit (+59)
3. Tuarts (+59)

Thanks for the update mc_mt
This must be the fastest update ever!

... and moving up 29 spots (mostly because of Phinney and Coppel) make this update even sweeter :D

Nice, fast update!

Despite not picking Phinney I managed to go up 2 spots. Top 50 now. :p

Meh, just wait until Voeckler is back in buisiness, I'll move up in the rankings like Froome on Ventoux. ;)

COquard scoring his first points ! Yey!

Yes, very promising! Especially as he beat sprinters of the quality of Degenkolb and Bouhanni so looks like he will be able to mix it at the top level this season.

Only two of us picked him..... :)

Well down to CQ getting their update out quickly - was a surprise as there was plenty of racing/results yesterday. Was lucky I spotted it had been released else I wouldnt have had a chance to put the update together til later on today.

Yeah and moving up always feels good (looks like I've spent the last couple of updates earning the right to hopefully make some big jumps forward!)

Looks like an interesting week ahead as well and it will fall to last year's runner up Geraint Too Fast to tell is all about it.

I think this is my first time ever in the top movers or scorers for the week. If Coppel had only gone four seconds faster in the TT, I would have had all three GC winners.

Also nice to see my unique pick from last year, Groenewegen, come so close to the win in Mallorca. Maybe I should have picked him again--I didn't because his team had a hard time getting invitations last year. (For example, he had podiumed at the Munsterland Giro in 2012, but his team didn't get invited back last year: https://twitter.com/GroenewegenD/status/385671790070333440.)

Good week fot me, with
- Phiney and Guardini in Dubai
- Coppel, Colbrelli and Feillu in France
- Matthews in Majorca
- Gerrans in HST

And next week could be cood too, with Bonnen, swift, matthews, LLS, the Yates brothers, and some others for sure :)

I realy hope it will be enough to stand conforably in the top10

Like I said, 5th place with these good results !
And it's not finish, with Swift, Boone, Matthews or EBH today ;)

Well, I'm up 22 spots, 287 for the week, not too bad. This week hasn't been so hot yet other than Boonen (but that's hardly and advantage), with my other 3 riders in Qatar getting caught behind, and fairly invisible representation in Mallorca (looks like Boasson Hagen led out Swift, although he got his first handful of points so okay). Got some hope tomorrow with the 'mountain' Mallorca race, with Lulu obviously in form and maybe someone like Aru or VdB can do well, depending on form, but who knows in the early season races.

Phinney and Lulu highlight my Tour Med team, with Danny van Poppel maybe up for a stage or two. But this week should be leaner than last. Contador season debut on the horizon!

Thanks to one rider in one race I already have only 10 points less then I got for the whole of last week. Aaaah.....CQ.

Up 6 places this week which is perfect since at 34th, I'm the last I can see without having to scroll down :p

Boonen is starting to clean up in Qatar as usual but today's best scorer for my team was actually Trentin. I thought he would have been picked by more than 6 teams but I don't mind having rare picks performing well.

The wizard_of_oz's team is doing great at the moment but it will obviously become harder when racing shifts away from Australia. It will probably beat the biggest total for the post-PN update though, which was Mellow Velo in 2012 with 2836 points.

I had Trentin on my team in 2012 and 2013. I got tired of waiting for him to make a breakthrough, but he is a good rider who has had some bad luck (such as his broken bone last year, crashing when in the chase group at the finish of Milan-San Remo 2012). I am surprised that only 6 people picked him.
