Update #28 : The calm before the storm
With the GC of the Tour de France coming up in the next update, major changes will be in order. In stark contrast, this update is one of the least important of the year. In fact nine of the top 20 teams failed to score even a single point this week. This can be explained by the fact that there were only a couple of races going on and the only one that had any significant impact was of course the Tour de France. Alexander Kristoff has had a wonderful week with two stage wins and it's therefore no surprise to see the three team that picked him performing very well this week. Grimm pairs Kristoff with Sagan to earn the week's highest scorer award while Hugo87 and Yellow Knight, the two other people relying on Kristoff were second and fourth. Bicycle_Boy (third) and Eyeballs Out (fifth) alos feature in the top five due to a rare pick, namely Rafal Majka, exceeding expectations.

I'm toast. Contador coming back for the Vuelta might salvage something (although it looks unlikely), but yeah, that's it for 2014. VdB my only TdF finisher, and a disappointing one at that. Well, time to lick my wounds, hope for the best from the rest of the team for the rest of the season, and start making a team for next year.

Update #29 : The Tour doesn't climb to the Giro's height
The Giro, this year proved very successful with many popular picks performing extremely well. However, with many GC favorites crashing out of contention in France, everybody struggled to repeat the success of the Giro. auto de fé is the highest scorer this week. Despite Contador not finishing the race, with Pinot, König and Trofimov also featuring on his team he manages to score an impressive 1013 points, but that's not even half of what the top scorer managed in the Giro update. Eyeballs Out is the only other person to break the thousand points barrier thanks mainly to Majka and Pinot. Yoyokt, fourth highest scorer this week, also relies mainly on Pinot. Meanwhile, the two Péraud teams : *Falze* and PeterB complete the top five.

Still in the top 10, even though it feels like my team has been soft-pedalling since May. Contador's DNF was definitely my best result from the Tour.
Now it's transfer season, so time to start adding some names to the longlist for 2015.

It was surprise to me that we were only two teams picking Peraud. He showed a lot of potential in last year's TdF until he crashed out, and I recall some interviews with him over the winter in which he declared he wanted revenge this year.
I'm probably out of top10 after next update as I had only Vanendert with some result in San Sebastian, but if Vakoc keeps delivering in Poland, I may be back next week! (again only two teams with Vakoc - Petr, that is)

With most teams suffering a bit of a post-TDF hangover, Crevaison took advantage to top the High Scorer & High Mover charts this week. Lotto-Belisol teammates Gallopin and Vanendert's exploits in San Sebastian account for the majority of his points, but there were also significant contributions from Mondory, Turgot, and unique pick Duchesne. Gianni Meersman single-handedly scored more than most teams in this update, and one of only two people who picked him, olafjt, is the closest challenger to Crevasion this week.

Well, well..look at that! I guess I didn't expect this team to get much of a mention anywhere since I only picked riders who I'd actually want do well (to not disturb my preferences when watching the races ). And also since I based the team around french guys which would normally be a recipe for disaster..but maybe the tide is indeed turning for them.

Update #31: Danish Domination from martinaagard
There is quite a strong Danish feel to martinaagard's team so he was probably expecting to do well in the update after Post Danmark Rundt, but maybe not quite this well? His team features the race winner (Michael Valgren), 3rd and 4th overall (Boaro and Lutsenko - who both won stages as well), along with as Breschel, Quaade & Jørgensen for some minor stage/GC placings. And to top it all off, his team also contains Rafal Majka - the double stage winner and overall victor of Tour de Pologne. So it's no surprise that martinaagard leaves everybody trailing in his wake this week.
Leading the pack behind him is gustienordic, who's scoring was a bit more diverse. Along with good results in Poland and Denmark (and the Netherlands, because Guardini's points from stage 1 of the Eneco Tour are included in this update), gustienordic also benifited from Anacona's strong showing in Utah and a great RideLondon Classic where he picked up 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, thanks too Swift, Alaphillipe, and Gilbert respectively.
Martinaagard and gustienordic both feature strongly in the high movers chart as well, with only Eyeballs Out (the 3rd highest scoring team this week) able to seperate them.

When I signed up to do this set of updates I was expecting them to be fairly quiet, with the big late season moves waiting until the Vuelta. How wrong I was! Before I get to the overall rankings, I should give some credit to asdfgh101 for being the weeks top scorer and highest mover. There were a few riders who scored triple figures this week and asdfgh101 had four of them - Wellens, Thomas, Kruijswijk, & Brajkovic, who all helped to make up the only 800+ score of this update. The 2nd best team this week is vladimir, but in 3rd and 4th we have two of the overall contenders, Pentacycle & minessa.

It was an average week for many in the overall top 10, and the high scorers have really taken advantage of this. Minessa jumps five places to 2nd, but it is Pentacycle who steals the show this week - he is the first team to pass 10000 points for the year, and in the process increases his lead to over 500 points! It's also interesting to note that the points difference between 1st and 2nd is now bigger than the difference between 2nd and 11th.
Despite the action at the top of the rankings, there are no new names in the top 10 this week.

Thanks for the update. I was almost expecting my score to be good enough to be top scorer this week, so quite impressed that asdfgh101 could beat me with 86 points. Still nice to climb 27 places in one week
I also noticed that it's my most common picks that are underperforming. Out of my six riders with the worst % return so far five are picked by more than 60 teams So if they start scoring it would probably not help me that much. In contrast both my unique picks are well into profit!

That's 14 of my 33 riders. Obviously Contador is a big wild card, but I'm curious to see what Aru, Hesjedal, and VdB can do as well in their 2nd GTs of the year. Chaves should be interesting, he's seemed like a good GC threat that just is a little off here and there. But in a 6 day race, that's losing lots of places on a bad day; in a 21-day race, you can have a couple of bad days and still finish in the top 15 and get some points. Luis Leon and Coppel have been mysteries all season, and while we're at it, so has Rohan Dennis. Riding in support of 2 team leaders could either give him motivation to stay up there in the mountains without the pressure of a leader, or it could cause him to just sit up and chill. Anacona looked great in Utah, I could see him in a support role and still landing top 15. Lutsenko seems to be finally hitting stride, and the hilly sprint stages should suit him (well, at least on the podium behind Sagan and Degenkolb).
In short, the team is full of question marks, and if they all reach their ceiling I'll be in for a windfall, but if they all fall flat I'll be utterly disappointed. I could theoretically have like 7-8 riders in the top 15-20, but... we all know how those hopes turn out in CQ games.

Vuelta will be intresting. My team for the Vuelta is quite similar to skidmark's, with Aru, JvdB, Hesjedal, Chaves, Lulu.... but I'm missing Alberto, which might hurt depending on how well he's recovered.
Also, hopefully Monfort will do something. I thought he would be a good pick because he would get some chances to be a captain this year, but so far he isn't using those chances very well.
