Now if vivianni could win today that would just be great

Was hoping Viviani and Adam Yates could get my team some relatively unique points this week. But both had their second crash of the season :(

Am just hoping Lars Boom has got all his out the way in time for PR on Sunday! Also have, in no particular order

Tanner Putt
Ian Stannard
Dam Mclay

Man, how did I miss posting the top 10 overall? Yeesh. Sorry guys.

In other news, I'm about to head out to the wilderness of western canada to do a summer of work as I do every year. I have intermittent internet access, but not enough to guarantee updates every Monday. I've really enjoyed doing the updates this year, but it seems practical to get somone(s) to fill in while I'm gone. Here are the updates that will take place while I'm gone:

April 27th
May 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th
June 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th
July 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th
August 3rd, 10th

I could be back in regular internet land as early as July 13th, but might as well delegate just to make sure they're all accounted for. If a few people want to take on 4-5 updates each, that would be great, or if more people want to do them and do 2-3 each, that's cool too. I know some folks did it last year. Who is interested? Call out a few weeks and they're yours (maybe cross-check the velorooms thread too to see who's interested). Once they're full I'll post a schedule on the first page of the thread for people to check and make sure of their dates. I can forward the helpful instructions mc_mountain drew up last year for making the posts, as well. Sound good?

I'm not particularly great with excel, but given the amount of other helpful users here, I'm sure that won't be a huge problem, so I'm up for doing some updates. Not quite sure yet when I'll prefer to do them though.

Thanks Netserk. If anyone else wants to do updates please let me know, maybe I'll do the call-out again on next update if people don't read every comment in the thread.

As far as the game goes - Purito!! What a performance this week. 2 stages (plus CQ points for the equivalent of a third stage for the mountains jersey), 2nd on a stage, and the overall. This is a very good sign for those of us who spent heavy on him, and a good sign for the Ardennes to come. Definitely nice to have 2nd and 5th as well (and so great to see Henao back at full capacity), although those are points that most people are getting too - but at least they stop other riders from gaining points from those spots. Now all I need is for a real good Sagan performance to make it a happy weekend for me.

Minor points this week so far besides Henao who is on pretty much everyone's team :p

I've already identified my mistake. - not enough Katusha riders.

Identified mine since the early weeks of the season: Porte was a pick not to be missed and he would've made this game interesting to follow for me. Pity I didnt realize this. Battling my way up with Quintana and Rodriguez though, just to see where I would be at the end of the season with Porte over Betancur.

Quite a decent week due to Purito mainly. Think many with him will have done a lot better though.
Like to think I would volunteer for an update as Ive been following the game quite closely but my laptop is broke. Doin this from a smartphone.

Tomasz Marczynski 43

Sarthe
Bakelants 40

Schelderprijs - Big fat zero

Paris roubaix
Roelandts - 22
Kung - 5

Pais Vasco
Rodriguez - 424
Sergio henao - 297 I make it
Chaves - 18
Conti, warbasse, Craddock, Weening - 5 each

Which makes a total of 901. Will easily be beaten. Nevertheless, Hooray

Pais Vasco

Purito 424
SL Henao 296
S Yates 147
Atapuma 23
Weening 5
Vervaeke 5
Betancur 5
Conti 5

Rio Grande do Sul Not yet on CQ
Chiarello 20
Gaspar 2

Sheldeprijs
Trentin 48

Paris-Roubaix
Trentin 5

Sarthe

Belvedere
R. Power 7

For a total of 995.
Turned now into profit Henao, Atapuma (was even before PV)
Below expectations: Froome, Fatancur, Gesink, Conti, Vervaeke...

Slow week ahead: Waiting for Castilla y Leon and Amstel Gold Race

Cobbled classics sucked big time with Sagan underperforming due to mechanical problems and other issues. Also Senechal did not live up to my expectations. Only thing positive Gougeard into profit after yesterday's Paris-Roubaix.

Update #14: Expensive picks pay off as lead changes hands yet again

At the start of the season when teams were revealed, there was some discussion around how the somewhat popular expensive picks would perform - the four most notable being Quintana, Froome, Rodriguez and Sagan. This week, the expensive picks were definitely the ones to get, with lots of points in Pais Vasco (and to a lesser extent, Paris-Roubaix) snatched up by expensive picks. For the week, vladimir comes out on top with 1171 points, over a third of his current total for the year! This was Pais Vasco driven, as he had both Rodriguez and Quintana, as well as the much more popular Yates and Henao. Stage points from Felline and 30 Roubaix points from Senechal is enough for the win. Second place NairoQ also had both his namesake and Purito, and grabs a comfortable 1152 points. Ten teams broke the 1000 mark this week.

This week's top scorers

Rank Team Points this week
1 vladimir 1171
2 NairoQ 1152
3 Ruvu75 1136
4 Kjellus 1123
5 the_sceptic 1058

The high movers list sees 21 teams moving up 20 places or more, and the top 5 is very similar, with Ruvu75 and NairoQ the top 2 there.

2 NairoQ (+41)
2 the asian (+41)
4 the_sceptic (+38)
5 MADRAZO (+37)
5 merengues (+37)

The points competition has a new leader! Kjellus was in second place last week, a mere 3 points out of first, and scores 26 points for the 4th place on the week, putting their team up to 108 points in the competition, the first team to break triple digits.

Green Jersey Competition

7 jeroenk 69
9 EvansIsTheBest 67
10 search 67

The top 10 overall has a lot of shakeup behind the remarkably stable podium. The same 3 teams have been on the podium the last few weeks, and while greenedge has carved out a niche in 3rd place, the top two spots are flip-flopping back and forth all the time. PeterB's impressive 9th place on the week is slightly better than Geraint Too Fast's impressive 17th place on the week, and so PeterB takes top spot back after giving it up last week. The top 10 sees 2 new entries - the previously mentioned Kjellus pops up 10 spots to 4th place overall, while skidmark continues his (okay, my - I never know whether to use first or third person perspective here) jumping in and out of the top 10, this time moving up 7 to 6th overall. Will10 and derrudi fall out of the top 10.

Top 10 overall

1 (+1) PeterB 5580
2 (-1) Geraint Too Fast 5556
3 (-) greenedge 5340

Note: I mentioned in the thread earlier this week that I'll be away from regular internet access from April 27th (two weeks from now) until likely early August, so I'm trying to find people to do updates in the meantime. I have seen a few responses and will follow up by PM with those people very soon, but if you are interested, let me know!

Hey, look at this :) After an abysmal start I actually won a week. Since I beleive I was the first to suggest a "green jersey" competition I think that will be my target this year. Also since I'm still way outside top 100 in the main competition of course. Still need a few more weeks like the last :p

Thanks for the update!

I guess Styby saved my A$$ so still in the top 30

... and hoping to stay there until the start of the Giro ... then the real decline will come as I have no GC contenders and Sagan is still underperforming and not showing anything that would suggest that he can at least break even
