I have two questions.
1. If the tdf and all the other aso races wont be a WT race next year would that have any impact on the points?
2. Can we take riders who were injured last season or parts of the last season? Sorry if that was already written somewhere, but I didnt find it.

It'll be up to the CQ guys. My guess is that they won't downgrade the points, and they already have some races in different classifications that the UCI does not use (WT gives equal weight to eg Paris-Nice and Tour Down Under, but CQ doesn't)

Hi i'm not authorised to use private message, maybe because i'm registered too recently.
how can i send my team?
thanks
This is what the FAQ offers for an explanation:
I cannot send private messages!
There are three reasons for this; you are not registered and/or not logged on, the board administrator has disabled private messaging for the entire board, or the board administrator has prevented you from sending messages. Contact a board administrator for more information.

However, elsewhere one of the moderators posted also this:

Hi brokebiker, before you can use the PM function you'll need to reach a certain amount of posts. To increase your post count maybe try and introduce yourself here and then engage a bit in discussion around the forums. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Cheers.
It is likely that this limitation was introduced after the recent refresh of the site and noone realised that FAQ needs to be updated. If it really applies, it may affect more new participants. Would you perhaps mind posting again twice and see if the limit for enabling PMs is 10 posts? If not, we need to raise this issue with admins or find some other solution (e.g. create a thread only for blank posts to raise one's post count ;) ).

So first run of the team comes in at 8157 with a borderline rider that will drop it into budget easily enough.
No doubt there will be another 20 variations to the team before I'm done

Was there any other changes to the comp from last year, was talk of having reserve riders or something. Was anything implemented or just the standard as per last year?

Hi, no changes from last year, I don't actually recall the reserve rider discussion, but for future years I'm of course open to hearing ideas, so if someone wants to lay it out, I'm all ears. The simplicity of the game is one of the main appeals to me, at least, so I'd be hesitant to introduce something like that, but I've always been conservative in fantasy sports games. I recognize that people could get bored throughout the year if their team isn't doing well, and I'm sure this has happened many times. But I'm hoping things like the green jersey and maybe this year's 'KoM' competition will help.

Hi everyone! I got back from my travels yesterday, which is why I've been absent from threads and PMs. A couple of things:

1. I foolishly left my old laptop at home, which had the only copies of some CQ files on it, so I haven't processed any teams yet, even the ones that were submitted awhile ago. But, I will start doing this as of the next day or so, after which you should receive a reply PM. As well, I will be updating the second post of the thread to show teams that have been confirmed.

2. As per discussion on the last page, I submitted my own provisional team to mc_mountain, who submitted his team and offered to be the 'witness' for my team. The delay in processing submitted teams was also because of this factor, as well as the fact that I didn't have the right file on hand.

3. There's little over a week to go! Remember to submit your team, and tell anyone you think would be interested in playing.

****NOTE: I wasn't aware that CN had changed their policies regarding PMs and post counts. This could be a problem for the game, as I know at least a few dozen teams are usually from user accounts who don't post much. If you wish to get your post count up, feel free to use this thread - maybe use it as an opportunity for some discussion, like to ask people about their strategies for picking riders or their favourite CQ surprises over the years. Another workaround, I believe, would be to sign up at velorooms.com, where I don't think there is any such restriction. I've asked there to see if that's the case, and will edit this post to confirm when I've found out. Hope it can work for everyone who wants to play!*****

In my view such a competition is maybe a bit unnecessary. The leaderboard for such a competition will inevitably be the same as the Green Jersey competition, minus the teams that are doing well overall. I don't think it will create more interest from players who don't already have something to cheer about. I'd wager that, after a few months, the top ten will be quite exactly like the green jersey, with the exception of, say, the top 20-30 teams in the overall.

I think the updates are large enough already. I think adding in a few funfacts and other such statistics (if they're apparent) will be a better way to make the updates even more interesting, although they're quite fine as they are. I'm very much in your camp regarding keeping the simplicity of the game intact. If there is a wish for an additional minor competition, maybe a "Best newcomer" would be better. Such a ranking doesn't necessarily have to be updated every week, to save space and work.

Just my 2c. :)

Damn, I really struggle this year. A few days ago I was down to 51 potential riders. Now after finally been able to cut a few I am back at 52  11 riders have now been marked green which means they are 100 % certain. At least five of these I am sure will be in the top 10 most popular riders. Currently I have no riders over 650 points in my provisonal 33, but I am still considering Nibali. If he can pull off a Giro/Vuelta double 1496 is still cheap...
Well; I will take one more day to try to calculate the team with the highest potential and submit my team tomorrow :p

I just submitted my team. I hope to do better than this year although I again left out some obvious riders I simply don't like. This game makes me cheer for riders simply because I chose them but I still cheer for riders I like and don't have in my team. I do hope the latter ones aren't too often picked my others. ;)

A Giro/Vuelta double is highly unlikely, as Nibali is expected to ride the Giro (FTW) and Tour (to prepare for Rio.) His teammate Lopez also more or less confirmed that Nibali isn't scheduled to contest the Vuelta at this point .

Giro + Rio can be good as well though :p
Yeah, but like he said he'll just have to drop everyone and then solo to finish line... And that's still only 400 points. 240 or less if he fails to do so. He could maybe still be a good or even great pick, though I'm a bit concerned about the likely Giro - Tour double, especially if he can't contain himself in the latter GT.

There's also the question of Landa. If he's at the same level as the 2015 Giro it will already be tough to beat him.

Cool, I hear ya, thanks for the feedback. I haven't had time to simulate a KoM kinda comp for this year, so I'm going in a bit blind, but yeah I'm going to try it. The updates are fairly long, so maybe I can split it or something, or maybe have the top 5 total every week (I had the top 10 as I was trying to focus on the GJ comp this year). It's not super hard to do, so I'll try it and see. I did like the points competition this year, although I haven't really heard much focused feedback on it, so I'm not sure if my perception is alone. Either way, I'll put some thought into something like 'best newcomer' or other things when I get some time at the start of the game... still time for some tweaks in the first few weeks when little is happening.

Ok that makes things easy. Or as easy as picking a team gets anyway.
I think the reserve rider discussion was for season ending injuries or something, I think it was just people putting ideas out rather than any specific plans. Just wanted to make sure before I submitted my team.

How is the KOM going to work?
And as feedback I enjoyed the green jersey comp, towards the later end of the season I thought I might have got a few points but missed out. But it gave me something to check, rather than seeing if I dropped out of the top 100 or not ;)

Okay, I'm caught up with team entries! If you're one of the 30 teams that's entered already, you should have received a confirmation message from me, and if your team is over the limit and needs to make a change, I've let you know as well. Please check the second post in this thread for a list of confirmed teams.

Also, re: the last post asking about a 'KoM' competition, it would be quite similar to the 'Green Jersey' competition, but rewarding the teams that leapt the most spots (ie. climbed the highest) every week. This would tend to give more points to teams that were lower down in the standings, as teams in the top 10 for example have nowhere to move up to. So in theory, at least, it would be more oriented towards teams that weren't in the overall than the Green Jersey competition. I'll do a standalone post about it sometime soon to get some ideas going - since all teams start equal, it doesn't need to be in place until the second update of the season, so there's a bit of time.

Team submitted:
Average age: 26,4
Most picked countries: Germany, Belgium and France with 4 riders each
Three riders aged 35 or over
Nine riders aged 23 or younger
No team with more than two riders
No riders over 700 points (so no Nibali :p )
No riders from UK or SKY
I think this is a very strong team. But I also liked my 2015 team and I finished outside top 100 this year

What's the green jersey comp? I haven't played in a couple of years and I don't see a description of it in this thread.
Green Jersey: each week, the top 15 scorers that week score points for the Green jersey competition, with 45 points for best scorer and 2 for 15th. Obviously, the person with most points leads the competition. So in this competition, it is not as important to be consistent. If you have a few great weeks, and many terrible weeks, you can still score highly in this classification.
