Not even close... :D

In other news, Betancur is on his way to his first CQ points of the year.
What a game changer ;) :D

Meanwhile Marc Fournier seems to become a great pick. He still leads the Circuit de la Sarthe, has already 38 points in this race and only costed 8 points. Unfortunately for me Landa lost the lead in Pais Vasco and probably wont finish very high in the final gc. Still he could get a few points and also Stefan Denifl could win the mountain classification which would be great.

I've been rooting for Hardy at Sarthe. I'd completely forgotten I have Fournier :p

On a similar note, I've found myself cheering for a rider that I thought I had only to remember I dropped him at the last minute. I guess that happens when you have a large pre-selection and are swapping a bunch of guys out at the last minute

Considering the points for the mountain classification in PV which I will get tomorrow I made about 220 or even more points today. :D

Well, I lost Barguil in the overall today, too bad. But Craddock is looking great and is a good TTer... although the guys behind him are no slouches either (Kelderman, Costa, Spilak, Reichenbach)... I could see him doing anything from moving up a spot to falling to 12th. Vervaeke is in the thick of things too, but could end up anywhere in the 13-20 range. All in all pretty good from two young guys - I'm especially happy my reading of the progression of Craddock's talent last year seems to have been right.

Quite happy with how things are going. Sitting at 16th is better than expected. Sadly, I don't have any GC guys in Pais Vasco. Eliot Lietars 30 points from Sarthe might dampen the fall, though. Glad he already doubled his last year total of 30 points. Looking forward to the rest of his season.

How do you think about Cancellara's classics season from a CQ perspective. Apart from today he played an important role in the races but is it really reflected in the points he scored? I am doubting.

I notice that the popularity tab isn't populating correctly. I don't have Craddock. On the other hand, I have Fournier but the popularity tab doesn't reflect that. I can only assume there are other discrepancies.

Looking at the last 10 seasons, Cancellara has on average scored 325 points in the classics campaign. 411 on average if you look at the last 5 seasons. This year he produced 367 points, so I don't think you can really complain about that.

Update #13: Go with the Flo - Pistolero propels Slapshot to big score and LaFlorecita to top 10

While certainly a week of big races, it was merely a decent week for scoring, with the game's most popular rider winning Scheldeprijs but some of the least popular riders taking the top spots in Roubaix and Pais Vasco. Some combination of very rare picks and the high-scoring ultra-popular pick was a winning formula this week.

This Week's Top Scorers

Rank Team Points this week
1 Slapshot 807
2 LaFlorecita 777
3 archieboy 714
4 Kjellus 641
5 Londonpat 606

Previously quiet team Slapshot (zero times in the weekly top 15 thus far) explodes this week, getting 600 of their 800 points from 3 riders: Contador (2 teams), Stannard (8 teams) and Kittel. Hot on their heels is the other team with Contador, LaFlorecita (of course), with good supporting points from Rosa, Kittel and Craddock. Best of the rest is archieboy (ranked 133/144 teams in terms of overall popularity of riders picked), with Rosa/Stannard/Kittel but also rare pick Marc Fournier (3 teams), who thanks to a solo break in Sarthe ends up with far more points this week than his career total up until now.

This Week's High Movers

Rank Team Up/down
1 Kjellus (+24)
2 barmaher (+22)
2 RoudeLeiw (+22)
4 Londonpat (+16)
4 derrudi (+16)

Looking at the top scorers' sheet, teams 15-100 this week all got between 300-500 points, so it makes sense that the movement this week wasn't so dramatic - especially since the two Contador teams are at opposite ends of the table where it's more spread out and thus harder to move. But Kjellus (top 10 finisher last year) shows some signs of life, using points from Costa/Kittel/Vanmarcke (and fewer from other guys like Carlton Kirby's adopted son, Reichenbach) to move up 24 spots. barmaher and RoudeLeiw (who is one of the other teams with Fournier) are hot on Kjellus' heels.

Green Jersey Competition

Rank Team Total
1 Nicosix 100
2 tom_jelte 93
3 Pentacycle 90
4 LaFlorecita 87
4 ironted 87

LaFlorecita's big week moves her team into 4th place in this competition. The fact that it was a bit of a week for the rare picks meant that none of the most regular top scoring teams scored; in fact 5 of the top 15 for the week had not scored a single point this year yet! 113 teams have scored at least one point total. None of the rest of the top 15 overall moved around this week.

Polka Dot Jersey Competition

Rank Team Points
1 tom_jelte 49
2 RoudeLeiw 44
3 LosBrolin 42
4 ironted 39
5 al_pacino 38

A little bit more noise being made here - 4 of the top 10 overall were teams that scored this week, although RoudeLeiw was the only one in the top 5. Their team moves decisively into 2nd place, although still behind tom-jelte's recent run of success up the table. LaFlorecita, vladimir and Kjellus all moved up in the top 10, without cracking the top 5.

Top 10 Overall

Rank Up/down Team Points
1 (-) Nicosix 5770
2 (-) Falze 5477
3 (+11) LaFlorecita 5409
4 (-1) jeroenk 5291
5 (+1) Geraint Too Fast 5236
6 (+1) skidmark 5234
7 (+2) Ferminal 5157
8 (-4) Hugo Koblet 5120
9 (+3) fauniera 5116
10 (-) greenedge 5115

The big story of the week, though, is LaFlorecita's rocketing up the charts to 3rd overall, which I believe is her highest ranking in all her participations in this game. This isn't just an Alberto-centered team, as she's got Dan Martin/Gerrans/Vichot/Betancur/Valgren for the Ardennes. Elsewhere in the top 10, Nicosix stays solid on top while Falze closes the gap a bit with a top 10 on the week, but holds steady at 2 overall. Flo and fauniera jump into the top 10, while 3 teams drop out (as there was a tie for 10th last week) - will10, the asian, and the Kittel-less former leader Pentacycle.

God, I'm terrible at this. I put in so many hours into this it's insane. I was adding riders to my list all season long trying to optimize, but I'm in the bottom half.

Hmm, it seems like your whole team is entered incorrectly. I think that's probably an entry error rather than anything else - not sure how that would have happened, as I copy and pasted every team individually. Well that's too bad - didn't mean to give you false bad news!

I dunno, I think you've got a smart team. Meintjes is a bit of a gamble, but he's young and good (meaning he probably won't score much lower than last year as a floor) and he's just had something wrong with him so far this year (it could be a disorder called 'riding for Lampre'). Chavanel got sick and was in poor health for the last 4 cobbled races where he should have scored a bunch. Van Asbroeck didn't prove he could repeat his 2014 at WT level, but he's fast and good and could make it up later in the year. Guys like Talansky and Meersman looked smart to me before the season (I have them both) and they have just not been there this year. So yeah, I think you've had a lot of picks turn out unlucky so far. After Meintjes and Talasnky have ridden a GT you might be in a very different situation.

Meintjes almost rode back to back GT's with a stage race in between at age 23, so MTN/DDD are to blame as well. Next year he could be in many teams.

Some more places lost. Hopefully I'll be back with a vengeance in a couple of weeks.

My Ardennes team is quite formidable:
D.Martin
Kreuziger
Jungels
Barguil
Gerrans
Betancur (?)
Valgren
Navarro
Vanendert

There has to be some points there.

Well, I believe I had Felline in the first couple of years. Of course I lost faith before last year's edition :D

Same here regarding JVDB.
Other one of mine is Barry Markus. I always expect a few 1.1 podiums from him, but even such an easy profit seems far away with his current form. Wippert as well, he does decent at Cannondale but his old program suited his style much better in terms of points. I have the feeling he could have gone full Shpilevsky/Serebryakov at Drapac this year... :p

I think my team for the Ardennes could be pretty good with Rosa and Kwiat who both seem to be in a good shape but are rather rare picks + Dan Martin. On the other hand I don't have Gerrans which might destroy my next two weeks even if my riders make good points.

Yeah, Felline was mine the first two years as well. No wait - Romain Sicard the first THREE years, if I remember correctly. Sometimes you've got a feeling. I'm sure there are others that are more common that I've fallen prey to, like Andy Schleck, Moreno Moser and Matt Goss. I've had Talansky three times I think, but this is the first time he's been disappointing.
