My team came in with 25 riders scoring exactly 7,500 points. 1 Australian, 1 Austrian, 3 Belgians, 2 Colombians, 2 Danes, 3 Frenchmen, 2 Germans, 1 Brit, 1 Italian, 1 Mexican, 2 Dutch, 1 Norwegian, 1 Spaniard, and, either showing my home team prejudice or betraying my green status as far as this game goes, 4 Americans. (I make that 14 nations across 4 continents.)

All but two of them ride for WorldTour teams, with the odd men out being on Burgos-BH and Team Total Direct Energy.

Good luck to all of us!
If you only have 25 riders, you can find 0 point riders to add if you want to. Might as well and try to get lucky.

Just under a day until the submission deadline and I'm on 70 entries... if I don't have a flood of them tomorrow, we will likely continue our slightly downward trend in terms of participation. But a good dozen or so newcomers so far, so we have some turnover, for sure.

Reminder that there is still a 24 hour period between the submission deadline and publication deadline, so hold off two more days before revealing your teams. Thanks all who've submitted so far!

Team sent. Just realised while typing out the names in CQ format that there are huge question marks about the majority of my picks. Those iliac arteries, viruses and painful knees are so sketchy...

15 different nationalities with the Italians and French (as usual for me) being the most represented.
22 different teams represented. 20 riders from the WT, 13 riders from PCT. One PCT team has 3 guys on my team.
Average age 26.5 on the 1st of January.
2018 score for my team is 19422 points, which is really high for the CQ game. In comparison, my 2017 team had just 11853 points from the 2015 season.

I believe I will do significantly better than last year.

I'm much more elitist. 28 riders from the WorldTour, 4 PCT and one Continental.

I also have 15 different nationalities but only 18 teams represented.

26 riders from the protour. Four PROF riders, two CONT and one wildcard without a confirmed team. Twenty different teams.
Average age is only 24 yrs (yikes!).
15 nationalities. Five Colombians, four from USA, France and Germany.
For some reason I have five riders from Team Sunweb. Maybe goes to show what a terrible season the team had last year.

Submitted my team.

Last season was a nightmare.

Hoping for a better performance with a different strategy this time around.

14 different nationalities represented. 33 riders for 7500 points.

5 each from Italy and GB, 4 from France.

I had 14 Sunweb riders on my 160 rider long list.

Team also sent in now, 33 riders at 7498 points. Have had my team almost finished for a long time compared to other years, despite many good options in all priceranges this year, but ofcourse the last 2-3 places were still quite difficult to select in the end and some sacrifices had to be made to fit the puzzle. I guess my team is fairly conservative, but overall I am satisfied with it. I have France topping the country-list with 6 riders.

Last year I did surprisingly well with a team that mostly consisted of favorites and riders I thought would be interesting to cheer for. This year I decided on a similar approach, I only have a couple of picks I don't particularly care for. I had to sacrifice one rather expensive rider I am really keen on which I hope I won't regret. Crucially I left out another rider whom I suspect will be one of, if not the most popular pick. Take a guess.

My average age is a bit higher than last year at 25.5. I have 3 riders in the 30+ category and a shocking number of 29-year-olds. Italy is best represented nation as always for me but France is right on its heels. I have 3 riders above 500 points and 8 between 250 and 500. Like DJ Sprtsch I also have 5 Sunwebs on my team.

Points distribution:

500+: 4

After a really-not-so-good season last year, I can happily announce that I never felt less confident in a team than this years (Seems to be a trend the last few years...). This year is mostly wishful thinking combined with I'd-rather-have-this-guy-than-that-one-over-there. I'm sure I missed obvious ones and picked guys I completely overrate instead.

Looking forward to the season and how it'll all unfold.

My team's in.
This looks like the very opposite of last year, when I had a really hard time finding 33 riders I liked. There were at least 40 riders i absolutely wanted to include, so I had to make some sacrifices in the end. I'll talk about these riders when teams are revealed.

Overall I have a very young team (haven't done the math yet, but looks like the youngest of my short career in this game), with no less than 6 neo-pros. And I had to talk myself out of selecting a couple more.

My strategy hasn't changed much from last year. I still went for riders who can win big, with a couple aggressive picks in the higher price range.

just checked and my stats are:

Most popular team: Sunweb (4) (with 3 other teams having 3 riders)
Most popular country: Netherlands (5) (with GBR and ITA right behind)
Team split: WT - 23, PCT - 10

1000+: 1
500-999: 2
400-499: 1
300-399: 4
200-299: 4
100-199: 4
0-99: 17

that is definitely a points distribution that I have not had before...

Ok some stats:

17 teams represented: 9 are World Tour, (If I remember correctly) the rest are Pro Conti with 2 riders on development teams for 1 each World Tour and Pro Conti teams.

1000+: 1
500-999: 4
400-499: 0
300-399: 3
200-299: 1
100-100: 5
0-99: 19
Of those 19 that includes 4 zero point riders, 1 of whom I have some real hope for. There are a few other under 100 pt riders whom are first year WT riders whom I have some real hope for.

I have no idea how good the team is going to be, but it should at the very least be an interesting and entertaining team.

edited to add: Average age of my team is 25.5

After much deliberation, team submitted. As ever there a few I wish I could have found space for and a few I have doubts over. Sure as ever that I have missed some obvious picks.

Some stats

21 teams
15 nationalities
26.5 Average age

1000+: 1
500+: 3
300 to 499: 5
100 to 299: 7
under 100: 17

Is the deadline 1200 tonight (GMT)?! In approximately 5.5 hours?

I thought it was tomorrow :openmouth:

EDIT - just checked and answered my own question. At least I have to get a move on now :)

no its tonight, and then a day delay to allow for submission corrections.

On another note i had 4 obvious ag2r but had remove on as it seemed crazy to go with four. Noticeable list of cheap WT riders this yr

My team was, I believe, the first to be submitted.

The recipe for failure is:
26 WT
6 Pro Conti
1 Cont

21 different teams, with 4 each from SUN and ALM, and 3 from Ineos

13 Nationalities, 3 continents
6 Italians, 5 French

8 aged 30+ (I probably overuse drop since last year as a criterion for selection), 14 who are 26-29 (mainly 29), and 11 25 or under. (I notice that CQ age seems to be age at the end of the year; eg everyone with a 1990 birth year is listed as 30, although only one in 73 has had their 30th birthday)

700 pts +: 1
400-699: 5
200-399: 7
100-199: 9
50-99: 5
0-49: 6
