Things are looking better today, after my high hopes for Fleche ended with only 5 pointers. Evenpoel, Higuita and Hirschi all top 10 in LBL; and Arensman and Pinot seems like pretty decent picks after Tour of the Alps. And maybe even good old Froome might score his first points in Romandie next week;)

Only an okay week, I guess. Higuita and Martinez being the main point scorers for my team. Some other riders scored as well in the races last week but I think it will be a midtable type of week in the update. Maybe enough to stay in roughly the same position overall. Maybe a couple of places down.

New week and new possibilities.

Romandie
Thibaut Pinot
Bob Jungels
Sergio Higuita
Antonio Tiberi
Gregor Mühlberger
Amund Grøndahl Jansen
Jakob Fuglsang
Andreas Leknessund
Juan Ayuso

Best case scenario Pinot, Fuglsang and Higuita gets in the top 10 of the GC.

With the prologue and an ITT it could be a decent chance that Tiberi and Leknessund could score some GC-points. They are both good at riding against the clock, but maybe not the best climbers. Maybe enough to get a decent result here unless Stage 4 will be too tough for them. We will see.

I've had a couple riders underperform due to circumstances outside their control so Vermeersch and Gonzalez have been the only ones that have been straight up bad. Looking forward to see if he can get anything going here especially since Movistar have no big name leader blocking his way.

Update #15: Go with the Flo

The spring classics, as they are traditionally thought of, came to an end this week with QuickStep finally winning at Liege-Bastogne-Liege and Remco finally (for those who have heaped incredible expectations on a 22-year-old) won a really big race. As we take a breath and turn towards Grand Tour season, the story in the CQ game so far has been a back and forth battle between two teams that have a comfortable lead on the rest of the field. And fittingly, this week continued that narrative.

Some big scores this week, with the Tour of the Alps and the latter two Ardennes offering a few opportunities. LaFlorecita lands on top, clearing 900 points. Of course, her team was one of the 35 that had Remco and his 285 points on the week, and also one of the 33 teams that picked the Ineos slot machine that keeps on spitting out money, Dani Martinez (211 more points this week). And why not 112 more from Higuita (30 teams), 80 from Attila Valter (10 teams) and 75 from Marc Hirschi (35 teams) for good measure?

Armchair Cyclist lands in 2nd for the week just 19 points back, with the same 4 highest scorers as Flo and Pinot instead of Hirschi. Last year's winner Object shows up in third with 886 points with Evenepoel/Martinez leading the way, and further support from Arensman (92 points, 13 teams) and a few other riders lower down. And in fourth... well, we will get to that.

ray10 pulled away from EITB last week with the weekly win, then EITB pulls back this week with a 4th place finish and 26 points that come with it. Nobody else is even close, and none of the rest of the top 5 score this week.

9(+2)NielsB5510
10(-6)laarsland5485

The two top teams have been trading blows, and as mentioned at the top of this update, that trend continued this week. EITB gained over 200 points on ray10, who finished 21st on the week but such is the level at this rarefied air that EITB now once again has a decent sized lead. Squire holds serve in third, and there's some jockeying down below, most notably with Object rocketing into the top 10 at the expense of Lortnoc.

This week sees the Tour of Romandie and Eschborn Frankfurt as the two WT level races, as well as Vuelta a Asturias as a 2.1 race.

This week also marks the end of April, and I will be relinquishing update duties for May and June as my work takes me into less reliable internet. Jumbo Visma Fan will be taking over for May - thanks for that! I'll still be kicking around on the thread, and hoping that by the time I'm back in action my team is worth a mention on an update. Hope springs eternal...

I went back and checked and I'm more than 300 points off my pace in 2012 (that year I was third after Liège). Still can't compete with Boonen's clean sweep of the cobbles classics. Somehow the top teams that year were into profit after Romandie. I don't think we'll get there this time around, maybe by the end of the Giro.

Good day! Sosa winning, and this means he passed his 2021 score today with some margin. Sam Bennett suddenly seems a reasonable pick, and with Kristoff third he also went into "green" numbers today. Froome and Grøndahl Jansen even scored their first points of the season!

Okayish week, I think.
For the Giro my hopes probably rest on the Bora team (Buchmann, Kämna, Hindley) and Ciccone. I don't expect much from that GT and can only hope the other teams don't run away from me.

Not the best outcome in Romandie but still some points. Higuita stage-win, Ayuso 4th and it was good to see Pinot getting better and better. Minor points from the rest I had in the race.

Edet followed up his 3rd place in Turkey with being 3rd overall in Asturias, so he is turning into a good pick.

This week.

4 Jours de Dunkerque / Grand Prix des Hauts de France
Oliver Naesen
Gerben Thijssen

For the old Naesen it would be a good oppurtunity here to even try and go for the GC. I hope he shows up. Thijssen could maybe score some points in a sprint.

Giro
MAL
Emanuel Buchmann
Jai Hindley
Lennard Kämna
Carl Fredrik Hagen
Tom Dumoulin
Giulio Ciccone

Not many riders and no sprinter for me here... I will have to hope the wins get spread around a bit. Hindley will probably start with trying to ride for the GC together with Kelderman for Bora, I guess. Kämna will stage-hunt and with Buchmann... I am keeping expectations low. Maybe Hagen could Meintjes his way into some GC-points? He has not showed much this season yet. Dumoulin, Mal and Ciccone are probably the best chances for some points. Im assuming Mal has a free role here.

Edit: One less rider with the withdrawal of CFH. Maybe not that surprising since he has not showed much this season. He will be at Tour de Hongrie instead it seems like, that is starting on the 11th of May. Might be a better chance to score some points.

Ayuso, Plapp, and Fortunato might finally see me get some good points for once.
This week:
4 Jours Dunkerque:
Oliver Naesen

Just hoping for GC with him.

Giro D Italia
Lorenzo Fortunato
Matthias Skjelmose Jensen
Thomas De Gendt
Lawson Craddock
Jai Hindley
Lennard Kamna
Tom Dumoulin

My climber and GC lead team in general means my team for the Giro is full of those types. Hoping Kamna can take a stage and one or two of my GC guys can surprise.

Ayuso, Higuita and Pinot (now into profit) brought in a decent haul. Baroncini and Quinn did stuff too. Popular picks like Sosa and Bennett that I passed on had a great week so I think I'll lose some ground in this update.

4 jours de Dunkerque
Rooting for a Cofidis 1-2.
ZINGLE Axel
TOUMIRE Hugo

Giro d'Italia
Some good climbers but they are here on domestique duties so I'll root for lots and lots of bunch sprints instead.

Update #16- Dennis, Ayuso, and Bennett come in clutch for Nakazar as Evan Is The Best maintains the lead

Introducing me, Jumbo Visma Fan, as your update writer for the month of May. This week saw Vlasov win Romandie, Sosa and Yates shining in Asturias, and Sam Bennett returning to form in Frankfurt.

Week 16 Standings
Nakazar wins the week, taking advantage of 226 points from Rohan Dennis,180 from Sam Bennett, and 157 from Juan Ayuso in Romandie and Frankfurt. The latter two are popular picks, so those points from Dennis, picked only by 5 other owners, came in clutch for the weekly win. Elsewhere, comodoro scored his points through Vlasov, an unique pick contributing 381 points, with Ayuso and Ivan Sosa's GC and stage victory Asturias nets him 137 points to volt him into second place this week.

Green Jersey Overall

2Evan is the Best182
3Nazakar133
4Lortnoc123
5comodoro113

Still a massive lead for our two leaders, but Nazakar moves into third with his successful week along with comodoro moving into 5th, but the race is still going to be among the top two unless something drastic happens.

9Kazistuta5349+96084

Only change in the top five is Nakazar, with his aforementioned big points week vaulting him up to fifth. In the bottom half, Lortnoc, triley36, and Kazistuta are the big movers, especially those latter two, each moving up nine spots, with triley36 having the same top three as Nazkazar, while Kazistuta used Bennett and Ayuso in combination with Sosa to catapult his way to the top ten.

Next week on the schedule, we start the Giro D'Italia, one of the three Grand Tours! A lot of popular picks are lining up here, could be a fun one for the CQ game, while in minor races, 4 Jours De Dunkerque starts tomorrow after six stages, with some interesting points to be picked up.

Let me know if there is anything wrong with the spreadsheet through PM or on this thread, I'm almost positive along the way I messed things up, but for now, have a good day!
