Just ticking over with a few points every day. Lamperti, Bernal and Quintana today. None of whom are game changers, being so popular. But ticking over is good. The fact that I'm in with a squeak of scoring 1,000 points in January is pretty amazing.

I need a big Van Wilder day tonmorrow.

Viviani already with 80+ points, but he's going for the Olympics. Wonder if many of us will regret not picking him anyway.

With Girmay, Martinez and Magnier quite popular we should have players among us, who have won every race today! I also nearly did that, but have Lamperti instead of Magnier..

Enjoy the evening for everyone who has the perfect CQ day today..
I counted 7 players that swept the three races today (adamski101, del1962, escartin, EITB, Object, manafana and triley36). Escartin also has Dainese and Magnier so yeah they are probably as close to a perfect day as anyone is going to be this year.

I was going to mention that it was a good day but I see that has already been mentioned! :D

happy to see that ultra -rare pick Dainese has made a good start to the season.

It's annoying. I knew Magnier was a reputable talent but he barely got a few top10's all season long in u-23 so I didn't think he was quite ready to score big in 2024 and then bang: he comes and wins his first race as a pro. Where do such stories come from?

Had the first half of his season ruined by mono last year. Also think you're underselling his August/September campaign, which was seriously impressive.

I'm not underselling anything because I was not trying to sell it. Just stated the fact that he had only a few top10's last year, so results-wise it's a really big jump in a short time to winning races at a pro level.

this was more DS type of win than rider himself, teamword and brain of DS was instrumental in this win

Hidden in those results are a couple of very impressive performances. He absolutely destroyed a lot of the other top talents in the uphill sprint from the peloton behind the breakaway riders in the U23 European championship. Some of the others commented that they had no chance to hang with him.

He was in and among my team all through the process, and now I definitely regret not keeping him. If I had 34 spots he would have been in, and also if I had been able to resist going for a unique pick in Loockx. Faure Prost and Loockx better outscore him over the course of the season now, or else I'll be angry at myself!

I'm also not loving the fact that Hayter is doing the Giro (or Catalunya). That's a lot of race days with potentially very little pay-off. But there's hopefully enough other random stuff he can do that provides more points. Maybe Girmay will turn out the superior pick.

At least now that the full Ineos Giro team seems to have been announced (one too many according to PCS), it indicates that Sheffield won't be doing it (was rumoured recently). That's good, as it means he can maybe finally win his 'home' race, the Tour of Norway, and that he will not waste race days slaving for Thomas. If he does the Tour, which I guess is likely now, it's OK because there aren't many other options in July, and he can then be good for the Olympics.

It's a bit fun updating the spreadsheet after each race this early in the season. I was up to 12th after the first Mallorca race Surf Coast and Colombian ITT but then dropped down to 22nd after yesterdays sprinters bonanza but today I'm back up to 11th.

Easily amused this early in the season. I bet the novelty wears off soon enough.

Woohoo! Number -9 With a bullet - mostly through Onley and Del Toro points. But 5 precious ports boosting me into the top 10 from a unique pick - Derek Gee, who impressed me last year at the Giro.
This is not doubt my high water mark. But it's always a fun season.

Heads up for Skidmark. Michael Valgren is now called only VALGREN HUNDAHL Michael on CQrankings rather than VALGREN HUNDAHL (ANDERSEN) Michael. And since he scored his first points today it would impact next weeks spreadsheet.

It did take them 3.5 years to change it, but @Armchair cyclist was still right when he assumed the old name would only be a temporary thing.

Because the spreadsheet dropped the 23 points of Michael Valgren since CQ now has him (temporarily, surely) as VALGREN HUNDAHL (ANDERSEN) Michael . Nine other teams will be similarly affected.

More tick over points from Van Wilder. I'm hoping he has gone to Majorca a little undercooked.
Hopes for Lamperti tomorrow .... with Plapp and Fretin my big hopes for points in Oz.

Vlasov already at 136 points. I basically picked Mas instead of him so I hope this doesn't continue.

The situation with Valgren shows why, imho, a lot of the confusion with Danish names could be avoided if CQ just referred to riders by their most commonly used name.

Anyway, for Marseille tomorrow, I got Cort.

Such an unexpected number 1 placing in the first update! Onley , Del Torro Plapp and Grmay were my best scorers but also had some other guys like Syritsa , Oldani , Storer and Canal.

This week my main guys were Grmay and Van Eetvelt , both with wins 1.1 races, Not sure if that is enough to keep my first place but I am hopeful.

Tomorrow I have a lot of guys competing including Grmay and Plapp in Cadel race , Leknessund and Brenner in GPCM , Hodeg in Palma and the Bernal/ Quintana duo in Colombia.

Syritsa was literally my last drop. Had to swap someone out because my total was too high and his number fit the bill.
I do like him this year. Also like Van Eetvelt and Leknessund

A better result from Fretin today and I might have got close to you but, as it is, I think you will still be leading .... unless someone scored mega points at the Cadel race this morning (which is possible). We have both picked up points on a more or less daily basis ... and to have in excess of 1000 pts by the end of January is pretty amazing. I don't anticipate being so highin the rankings for long, so I will enjoy it for now.

Pithie picked 2 times. Tesfatsion picked 0 times. Zimmermann picked 0 times.
Strong picked 3 times. Narvaez picked 1 time.

Thats the top 5 and the rest of the top 10 was pretty anonymous as well, I say without checking.

I only got minor points from Ryan, Plapp, Girmay, Mihkels and Tarling.

Today is largely hoping for Lamperti. Herzog in Palma too but expect nothing from him. Bernal and Quintana in Colombia.
Bad news with Onley crashing out in the Cadel race. Hope the injury isn't too bad.

I feel like I'm going to fall very low in the standings soon. Apart from Del Toro in TdU and Plapp at Australian nationals, no major results so far.
