For those that are curious, the optimal team in 2025 would have scored 27,573 points, beating Salvarani by a mere 10,000 points. Among those guys, Pidcock, Kubis, Malucelli, Covi, Larsen, Salby, Exteberria and Loland are all unique picks. Nobody saw Scaroni, Prodhomme, Lopez, Johannessen, Blikra, Gilmore and Omrzel having that kind of year.

I got 2 of the 8 unique best ROI picks (Kubis and Loland), and yet finished 73rd overall, which demonstrates how disasterous the rest of my picks must have been.
Thanks Skidmark for running this. See you next season.

Not really following rider news that close (injuries etc) I am now hesitant about one of his former teammates.
Who has also vastly underperformed this year.
Could be a coincidence of course.

Is it January yet? Can't wait to see peoples teams. I've got a first draft of my team but I also have 20+ riders that could easily fit into a team as well so it will be very interesting to see what direction people go this year.

Why are riders still scoring points FFS. I had Merhawi Kudus in one of my drafts for next season and he just more than doubled his cost putting me over the limit on that draft.

The real question is why CQ are not using the same season cutoff as the UCI, otherwise Kudus would be in profit for the 2026 season now.

(yes, I know they've always gone by calendar year, but afaik the UCI used to do so too so it's not like they've always done things differently)

Fair to say that was a mixed season.

The good:
1538 points scored by zero point picks
Obvious highs Seixas, A W Philipsen, Onley, Romeo, Bittner. Bisiaux.

But the young sprinters/1 day hopefuls, Bittner aside, were awful.

Blackmore was pretty awful ... but he had to be picked on my strict Avenir winner rules (even though he was too expensive).
Lenny was underwhelming really, I expected more. Max Poole unlucky.

But the likes of Krijnsen, Penhoet, Mihkels ... absolute pants.

Roll on January. I think I'd better start with a cleen sheet this year.

A late thanks to Skidmark and congrats to the winners, as I went into hiding due to my abysmal team this year. Looking forward to a new chance though:)
Went back and revisited my last second changes (I seem to always change 3-5 riders the last day) to see if it paid off - here's the result:
Vingegaard, Louvel, Brunel & Schelling IN: 2957 points in 2025
Vine, Gall, Riccitello & Poole OUT: 2935 point in 2025

So a major gain of 22 points due to the changes I made, didn't really make a difference after all.
I guess I would've had a lot more to cheer for if I stayed with the original four, though. I'll probably forget about that little conclusion when I have second thoughts the day before the 2026 deadline:oops::D
