Update #8: Eyeballs Out Balls Out

It was a bit of a sparser week in the CQ game, with of course Strade Bianche as the main attraction. As a result, scores were modest, and the teams already at the top had some good weeks, locking down their position atop the standings.

This Week's Top Scorers

RankTeamPoints this week
1Eyeballs Out362
2jsem94359
2Squire359
4Rufs353
5vladimir344

It was a close one at the top, but Eyeballs Out eked out a win. Of course, the biggest contributor to their team was the most popular rider in the game, with Paul Seixas getting 132 points for 2nd place at Strade Bianche, raising the bar for his 73 owners. Eyeballs Out had notable contributions as well from Andreas Kron (52 points, 38 teams), Mauri Vansevenant (48, 22) and Jordan Labrosse (40, 5), while also pulling in between 12-28 points from four other riders.

The other spots on the podium came from a tie this week, although Squire and jsem94 had some difference in riders. Each had Seixas/Kron, but whereas Squire's team score was largely helped by unique pick Santiago Buitrago (130 points) and rare pick Morgado (40, 5), jsem94 had Tiberi (66, 16), Lamperti (56, 25) as well as Vansevenant.

This Week's High Movers

2Qazaqstan(+9)
2vladimir(+9)
2Bicycle_Boy(+9)
5Eyeballs Out(+8)
5laarsland(+8)
5Laurens147(+8)

A different set of names here, as some of the top scorers were already quite high up in the overall and therefore didn't have much room to move. yoyokt is the only team to move up double digits this week, with a lineup including Seixas/Lamperti/Vansevenant as well as Simone Gualdi (40, 8). Qazaqstan, vladimir and Bicycle Boy all tie for 2nd in the ranking with similar lineups save for Bicycle Boy's unique pick Gianni Vermeersch scoring 83.

Last week's co-leader slow climber takes sole possession of the lead after scoring 20 points this week, while Rufs leapfrogs into 2nd after scoring another 26 this week. The remainder of the top 5 doesn't score this week and Eyeballs Out's weekly win has their team only a few points out in 6th.

8(+2)Nyssinator2534
9(-)Shakes2501

Rufs and slow climber finished 4th and 6th on the week, with 353 and 343 points respectively, so they solidify their places atop the standings by over 200 points. Further down, jsem94 leapfrogs a bunch of teams after 2nd on the week, and Shakes manages to hold down a spot in the top 10 despite not having Seixas. No moves in and out of the top 10 this week.

A classic early spring week is going on this week, with the overlapping Paris-Nice and Tirenno-Adriatico, and lots of riders in action.

Surprised to see me at 11th when my only rare scorer being Tiberi, and riders with big importance (Nys, De Grosso and Blackmore) hasn't races yet or just started doing wheelies.
Widar sick, Tamineaux injury and my usual buy-low sprinter strategy also as usual not paying off (when will I ever learn?) making me wonder "what if", but I guess most of us are in that boat.

So not that high in the general overall classification, but at least I am leading the competition with most riders into profit.

7 riders already. Not bad for this time of the year!

Does someone know what’s up with Arvid de Kleijn?
Didn't start at Alula due to newborn child. Then dissapeared. I guess maybe the team shut him down. It's laughable for professional sportsmen to be out for 3 month due to newborn child.

Alright, what do I have to look forward to this week?

Paris-Nice

Carlos Rodriguez
Dani Martinez
Axel Zingle

Well, the two GC guys are well-enough placed after two stages, I suppose we'll see, Martinez is a bit of a bigger difference maker being on fewer than half the teams. Zingle seems to be treading water and maybe needs a bit more time to get back in the flow of the peloton.

Tirenno-Adriatico

Benoit Cosnefroy
Mattia Gaffuri
Alan Hatherly
Andreas Kron
Lennert Van Eetvelt
Kevin Vermaerke

Good lord, the TT yesterday was abysmal. Of course it's good to get unique pick Hatherly in the top 10, but aside from Cosnefroy finishing in the 30s, my other 4 riders were all between spots 88-133 lol. Well I dunno, maybe Hatherly can hang in the gravel stage and the 'hills not mountains' route will favour him, or someone like Cosnefroy and Kron can hang on some of the stages and take their chances.
